It appears to be a port 7979 issue, which is what the announce tracker is using at D-Addicts. By default, your router and Windows firewall should be allowing this port for all outgoing traffic from your PC.

Just for grins, see if you can go to this site:

http://jem.d-addicts.com:6969/

I'm curious to see whether or not 6969 is an issue. That's the most common announce tracker port in BitTorrent. If you receive the same page cannot be displayed error on that link, your ISP may be blocking all common tracker ports (7979, 6969, etc.)

@angeizahoy
It doesn't look good if you can't even access the tracker pages. Maybe you can try testing with a torrent from the scarywater tracker that the anime groups use. Go to a.scarywater.net and try using one of those torrents. Scarywater uses port 443 and I rarely have problems using that tracker unless it is experiencing serious difficulties.

At this point I don't think it's your PC. I'd call your ISP and have the technician there test those web sites. It appears that they're port filtering. This is become more and more common by the day.

Just a quick explanation of the Windows firewall. It only protects your PC from incoming traffic that's initiated from the outside (examples: Remote Desktop, NetBIOS, etc.) All traffic you initiate is considered outgoing traffic. So the firewall wouldn't affect any web-based ports like 80, 443, and even 6969, 7979, etc. BitTorrent ports are considered incoming, so that's why you open the firewall to those ports. Therefore, your focus should right now be on ports 6969 and 7979, and that's what you should be asking your ISP about.

A work-around would be to use the e-mail torrent file delivery service topic:

*** TORRENT FILE DELIVERY SERVICE ***
http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_13254.htm

Ask for whatever torrents you want. Someone will e-mail you the torrent files via e-mail attachments. And then you can BT. If your current BT ports are not working, you may want to change them to a non-standard range. Read the FAQs on how to change these ports and also configure your Windows firewall with the new port changes.

I'm assuming that is the tracker announce, we don't have any server that begins with 173 whatever torrent that is, is not a d-addicts torrent.

What the *uck? NO! WHAT TORRENT IS IT????? I'm not asking what application or protocol you're using. LOL, this reminds me of a question I asked a user years ago.... "What mode are you running in?" "Duuuuuuuuuh, I'm running in mode."

First, see if this problem occurs on other torrents on the D-Addicts tracker.

did you change anything with your download client or firewall or router? sounds to me like a problem with "tweaking my bittorrent client" <-- that's in support or faq-section.
Hope that helps! :-)

I am a new user to this website and am glad to have found this website as I am an avid fan of korean dramas. I have been able to download some of the dramas that are available. However, I would also like to contribute by seeding dramas that I have been able to download. How am I able to do that? Currently, while I am downloading an episode vide u-torrent and once it is 100% completed I would keep it on till the ratio reaches above 1. Is it correct? If I were to come across seeding request and I do have those episodes or dramas, how do I respond to those request. Please assist.

thanks

if you're using utorrent then to seed a file again you just download the .torrent file and it when it loads in utorrent it will ask you where you want to save the file, just browse to your completed file and it should start seeding.

Few possiblities:

1. Your proxy settings may not be configured correctly on your end. Use the following link to troubleshoot:
http://www.d-addicts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1831

2. The torrents you're downloading may either be out-of-date, i.e. they're not being tracked on D-Addicts.

ok, so i did these things..

1) Go to http://d-addicts.net:7979 and post what you see. You should see a BNBT torrent listing.

did that, the page gives me a list of torrents

2) Go to http://d-addicts.net and post what you see. You should see a "Move along, nothing to see here." message.

yup

3) Do a tracert to d-addicts.net and 217.172.47.150 and post your findings here. I mentioned how to use tracert a few posts ago.

did that too

4) Are you by chance running any sort of firewall or anonymous software that might contain a blacklist or banlist of some sort?

my firewall's off

one of my other torrents not from d-addicts works fine, but slow.. it all happened after bittorent updated automatically updated itself..

but here's what i get from the return of the condor heroes 1998:

Try downloading something else.... Anything other than Condor Heroes. Googling around, it appears that a misconfigured torrent may all of a sudden cause the unauthorized symptom for a certain flavor/version of BT client. It could have been triggered via the BT client upgrade. You may want to install a totally different BT client to further isolate the problem. Already we know that:

1. It is not a routing issue. You can get to the tracker's page fine via http.

2. It isn't a port/firewall issue. You can access port 7979 via http.

What make/version of the BT client are you currently using?

i'm usually use BitTorrent 4.22.1

i also have azureus 2.5.0.0 and the i tried the torrent for Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion which works, but it downloads at less than 1KB/s

i'm also dling The Big Lebowski (from isohunt) in BitTorrent and that's the only torrent that's doing any downloading, the other d-addicts torrents can't connect

it seems that something happened when BitTorrent updated, but i have no clue as to exactly what happened, and everytime i use azureus, the speeds are less than 1KB/s

I have no idea how to use Azureus. As for download speeds, the tracker should never have an affect because the only transmission between the client and the tracker is tiny pieces of data that tells the client where the other nodes in the swarm are. Indirectly it may be the D-Addicts tracker, but more accurately performance is directly affected by the other members of the swarm. I've found that users of D-Addicts tend to be bandwidth-challenged, while other trackers have users with better bandwidth. It may be linked to the type of videos (ex: anime and DVD movies tend to draw more tech savvy people, while live dramas draw the less tech savvy people, or people who live in areas that have lousy bandwidth.) So no one can claim that "my download speeds on D-Addicts are lousy because I get great speeds on other tracker, therefore D-Addicts is the problem." You're not saying this, but I had to mention it in case other people, based on the symptoms, draw this type of a conclusion.

Really odd issue, maybe nothing but figured I should post it.

I've been uploading and downloading from the site for ages with no problem, but recently moved and have a new ISP.

I am getting the following error in Bitcomet. I also get a similar tracker connection error in plain old vanilla BT

Tracker connection error : 3

My ports are open
I can surf to the d-addict.net addresses with no issues and get both the list of torrents and the move along message
I can upload and download from other trackers without getting this error message
I am uploading and downloading from the tracker albeit it slowly (but that's an ISP issue on my end, I'm very aware of it).
I am seeding the latest episode of Ai no Apron (2006-08-02) which is where I saw the message originally, verified that it's happening with other d-addicts torrents.

I think it's a latency issue. The tracker says it can't connect but then does, so it's probably just a spurious error. But I'm not seeing this with other trackers, which is why I'm posting.

Thanks in advance for any ideas

Query

Post by robertc173 » Oct 4th, '06, 06:59

Hi,

Just wonder if anyone could answer me. These past few days, I notice that my downloads have been very slow, maybe 1 or 2 kbs on a whole, some would remain at 0 eventhough theere are many seeds. I used to get about 50 or 60 kbs.

I understand d-addicts was down for a day or so, but prior to that it has been very slow for downloads. I am sorry of the answer is posted somewhere, I just wonder if this is due to the mirror and that everything is not normal yet ?

Thank you for sharing !

Sad to say but i'm having the same prob too. I used to be able to d/load at acceptable speed but these few days most of my torrents are just 'Connecting' 0/0 (seed/peer). However, one or two torrents are able to d/load at 20+kb/s.

Anyone can enlighten me on how/what/why ?

thanks a bunch

Which torrent file were you trying to d/l? Most likely the torrent only have 3 other people sharing/downloading the file.

However, have no problem downloading from other trackers. This is really strange....

It's going to take me awhile just to download the frigging program. Apparently bitcomet.com is being hammered. And their mirror sites still show as 0.80.

I've installed 0.81 just now. Unfortunately, it is working out great for me. What I do on every release is install it into a new folder (ex: c:\program files\BitComet 0.81 instead of the default path). So I suspect there may be some sort of a bug in the installer when installing on top of a previous install, such as 0.7x. That's what I would try next - install 0.81 into a brand-new folder, and then re-download the torrent file from the D-Addicts tracker. This is the best suggestion I can dish out for now.

As of this post, Asia is showing only 57-percent Internet uptime within the entire region. Breaking that down, Singapore is a slug at 404ms, with a packet loss rate of 37-percent. China is even worse: 327ms with 62-percent packet loss. No wonder I couldn't even download BitComet (it is stored in China.)

One idea... Would you happen to have any firewall software installed on your laptop? Most firewall software, such as ZoneAlarm or Symantec Internet Security, will set rules for certain programs, such as BitComet. Most company-owned computers are equipped with security software like firewalls. However, the rules may not work after upgrading the software. This is because the CRC check on the newer version is different from the earlier version. Once the upgrade is complete, the rule set must be updated so that the new version is recognized. The purpose for the CRC check is so that any virus or trojan horse that embed itself into an application will change the binary form of the application, thereby changing the CRC checksum.

One way to determine whether or not it is firewall-related would be to disable the firewall software.

I have reinstalled version 0.70 and it can't work too. Got another error message though i.e. Can't Connect Tracker (10060) Waiting 80s to retry. However, have managed to download using u-torrent last evening and speed was considerably good.

Well, it finally happened to my computer, too. It took about 24 hours or so for 0.81 to fail. I didn't do the due diligence of figuring out what was causing the error 3 connection problem seeing I was in a rush, trying to do an initial seed of a torrent I just posted earlier. So whatever was the cause - all the evidence is gone.

But I did figure out what is needed to be done in order to downgrade back to BitComet 0.79 and have it functional once again. Simply, you first uninstall 0.81. Next, you MUST delete the c:\Program Files\BitComet folder. The many configuration files in that folder is not downward compatible with earlier versions of BitComet. Optionally, I ran regedit and deleted all keys and values containing the word "BitComet", but based on the findings of the searches I really don't think this would have an effect on BitComet not to work. I then installed 0.79, and I'm back to functional status. I think the key here is to delete the BitComet folder after uninstalling. Whatever defect settings 0.81 left behind, 0.79 probably would've picked those settings right up.

Hope this helps!

i have another experience since wat i need is enable both tracker and DHT with BitComet :D

Just clean up all version currently installed in PC but dont forget backing up all the torrent ( if you r in middle downloading some file) :)

then install 0.81 version, then open the torrents that you are downling b4, then give it the rite place you save b4 to let it continuing downling files... After that, shut down the Bitcomet 0.81, then install 0.70 in to the same dir with the 0.81 dir to ovewrite it :) and JUST RUN IT!!! :D
Now i'm using BitComet 0.70 with both tracker and DHT always connected :D

It's work with me like that so you guys who still in trouble, just test it out ... it's around 60-70kb/s at the rush hours :D pretty good with my country (VN) which still affected by Earthquake in Taiwan...

After uninstalling BitComet (any version), did you delete the BitComet folder from Program Files? I think this step is a must. BitComet does not install files anywhere else.

With your web browser, see if you can connect to this site:

http://d-addicts.net:7979

Are you able to see a torrent listing?

I can see the torrent listing. Able to download as the download speed is about 30 kb/s though the tracker connection error still states 3 and at certain time it state 0. Glad i am connected again as i have always been downloading using bit comet.

Thanks once again for the assistance.

Yeah, the tracker is getting HAMMERED!!!! Having JTV move all their torrents to the tracker in a matter of hours is probably adding to the timeout problem. Even I see those errors, but still you should at least be able to stay connected with your peers in the swarm.

Can't download anymore >_<

Post by Tsana » Jan 8th, '07, 08:14

I'm sorry if this is all explained somewhere, but I've been trying all yesterday and also today, but I just can't get it to work!
The thing is that I installed uTorrent on Saturday and downloaded the new Hana yori Dango ep. I didn't really do anything except the usual installation. At first it was really slow but then I got a pretty good speed, around 50-60kB/s, so I downloadd the file fairly fast. The whole time the orange little stop-sign thing to the right of "DHT:xxx nodes" on the bottom of the page.
The next day when I turned on my comp. and tried to download another file (also had lots of seeds and lots of peers) I suddenly get no connection at all! I had 0.1kB/s for five minuites yesterday but that was it. So I tried the port-forwarding thing. I went through the guide and I forwarded port 47224 (this was in uTorrent from the beginning so I figured it was the best... I really have no clue about all of this!). Then the orange triangle stop-sign turned into a red round one instead and I got a little speed for my torrents... but 5 min. later it was back to zero again.
Now that I started my comp. today the orange triangle stop-sign is back, so I guess my port isn't forwarded afterall. I tried going into the router prog. and change it to 7979 instead (I read somewhere that it's the tracker's port... is it?), but it didn't change anything.
I really don't know what to do.... And I want to be able to download again by Saturday 'cause I'm dying to see the next HYD ep!!!
Oh... and it usually says "tracker status offline (timed out)" ... but even on the few occasions that it says "working" it doesn't give the torrents any speed at all!
Does anyone know what's happening? Should I try setting it to another port again?
Onegaishimasu!!
