Alfredo, I just watched ep 7 with your subs. Good job. If Priscilla can find the time to fill in the missing dialgoue that would be great. I noticed your credit for minor translations...I guess you speak Korean. A 55 episode drama is quite an undertaking...I can relate since I'm working on Only You with Seirin. It takes me so long. I can only speak for myself in this regard ...but I do tend to agonize over words, phrases and punctuation, trying to achieve perfection...I'm sure Priscilla could vouche for that... so when you said you hoped to do one a day I was impressed...skeptical, but impressed! I look forward to more...I do love this drama.alfredo wrote:True, episode 1-6 is too brief. and Prinscilla said could do them. and yes i'm going to try my best. i want to see what it's like to sub a whole series. i know it's long to i want to be the first to do that much alone.
alfredo wrote:Here is episode 10.
This will be the last for sometime due to the fact that I've aggravated an old back injury. as a result of this speed subtitling (4 days straight).
hope you're not appointed as i promised subs but circumstance prevents.
alfredo wrote:This is the subtitle for episode seven and eight. I will continue to make the remaining subtitles.
alfredo wrote:no there are no subs for ep. 1-6 yet due to no translation.
note it might take quite sometime for it to be done. I'll do it after I finish ep. 55. so that's a long time, provided the translation is done.
I'm hoping .... but no one seems to know or care. I keep asking Yesasia, but it is not a big deal to them. They are quite non-commital. Somehow I think the fans care more than SBS, but them one day they will most likely release it. Maybe some of our Korean friends can pose the question to SBS.chitato_80 wrote:I am really hoping that SBS will release the official DVD boxset with English subs.... what do you guys think of that possibility ?
I'd say go with the Hodoli, an excellent quality avi, especially with the later episodes, and if needed adjust the subs.Sny wrote:Got the same question too.. Which version works best for the subs? I'm planning to download the torrent, but too many versions out there.. please.. if anybody knows the answer.. I trully appreciate it.

lorac wrote:I too have been absorbed with Seo Dong Yo, working on the DVD sub rips. It is quite interesting the different interpertations. Case in point. Episode 5, Jang's first appearance after 10 years, the DVD subs have him saying:
Yes, 10 years
It's time to forgive him.
Priscilla's translation is:
Yes, it’s 10 years already!
It’s about time for them
to forgive me.
Quite a difference, right? Priscilla's is more correct. Episode 5 is very revealing. I'm loving every minute... hour... of it.
The dialogue is the first scene with Jo Hyun Jae as Jang. His name appears in Korean as Seo Dong, but the Princess is the only one who calls him that. It is an important scene as it is ten years later and sets the mood of what follows. Priscilla's translation is correct. Jang's comment is not to forgive "him" meaning Mokrasu, but comment that it's about time Haneulchae accept him. The scenes that follows defines the dialogue.I don't have ep5 to check what you pointed out, but it seems that those 2 sentences wouldn't be said by the same person... so depends on who said it... if it is Jang, the Priscilla's would fit.
Yesasia's reply follows:wetworks wrote:Hi,
Yesasia's website says that for volumes 2 and 3, the image will be widescreen (like it was broadcasted on tv):...............Anybody knows if it is true? If so, what were they thinking, releasing 1/3 of the series pan and scan and the rest in widescreen format
The subtitles are not ready to release. I've only done a first draft and there are still several things I need to address. Namely, the translations that are sorta literal but don't make sense. For those I need to consult with a Korean. Also, my collaborator has not looked at the files. She and I strive to correct the poor grammar and misuse of the English language and to make it as perfect as possible, and she is also an excellent timer. We are the same team that brought you Only You... was it worth the wait for those subs?Would you mind sharing the ones you've completed with us here ?

lorac wrote:I have not even had time to watch the latest Jumong...that's my sacrifice, but Seo Dong Yo is worth it!
As much as I like Jumong, it is not the obsession that Seo Dong Yo was/is. Although after reading some of the synopsis I had better watch the last 4 episodes. Only 16 out of 43 episode subtitles have been released so you might have a wait! I wouldn't bother waiting, just read the synopsis and watch without subs.Hehe Jumong is also next on my list.. but I'm going to wait until they finished subbing the whole series... I'm afraid I'm gonna be as obsessed as I am with SDY.. I can't have another obsession on top of my daily work now..
