Easiest/Easy Jdrama
I'm surprised this question hasn't been asked before (or at least it seems that way after searching). I'm wondering what an easy Jdrama to start with is? As a beginner in Japanese they're all gonna be pretty difficult so I've been searching for a place on this forum where Jdramas are categorised in order of difficulty. Over in the Chinese forums they have categorised many dramas by order of difficulty and it was extremely useful when I was learning Chinese. At the very least I would like some recommendations with what to start with.

Easy J-Drama
I thought Innocent Love was easy to understand. It stars Horikita Maki. I downloaded the Japanese subtitles to watch with the drama and it made it even easier. The vocab is simple and the grammar is not hard. Hope this helps, Ganbare!

A show I use to watch in Japan about 3 sisters & a cat,
Ok guys.. here I go. Well I use to live in Japan until 2 years ago. At one time I had a roomate that was Japanese. He would watch this tv show on dvd. It was about these 3 sisters & they had a cat. Not sure if the show was made in 80 or 90's,but it was a comedy. Do any of you have any ideas about this shows name?

Does anyone know the name of this Drama?
Hey guys
Recently I managed to copy a bunch of old Dramas off an old worn out hard drive, and I noticed that there was a drama missing by for the life of me I've no idea what it was called.
The only things I remember about it are as follows:
Episode 1 appears to begin with someone walking on the beach, I believe its a woman and a child, the shows name had something to do with sand or time or something along these lines. I'm not sure if I remember correctly but it may have also involved someone losing their memory.
These are the only things about the drama I can remember, its pretty vague and honestly I can't even remember the year, probably 2007-9 possibly but even then I'm unsure about that.
If anyone recognises any of the text then please let me know, I remember being really excited to watch the drama and then having to stop downloading it about 2 episodes in because I was going abroad for quite a while.
Thanks guys.

Could the drama be "Last Friends" from 2008? The opening scene shows a pregnant Nagasawa Manami walking on a fishing pier. Ueno Juri and Eita are also in it.
edit added - Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku with Matsujun and Takeuchi Yuko also opens with a woman walking on a beach.
It COULD be last friends, but I'm sure there was a child walking too, I'll checkout last friends (something I've been meaning to check out anyway) soon then. Hopefully the torrents are still alive.
[Edit]
By the way, thankyou for moving the post, I didn't notice this topic, my appologies.
Yes! Thankyou, I just watched the first 5 minutes on youtube and thats the drama I was after, thankyou so much. I knew last friends seemed a bit odd, I've never seen that drama but everytime I read about it I think 'it sounds pretty depressing honestly..'.Vicka wrote:@squall789
Maybe Sunadokei (2007)?
This drama is also probably just as depressing in parts. I'm pretty much complete with my regaining of old Jdramas I never got to finish, next up is finishing Watashitachi no Kyoukasho which I also stopped for a while because it was really depressing and had no subs at the time.
Once again, thankyou.

Does anyone know who plays the "evil" main girl that lies about her friend being molested in Kuro no Onna Kyoushi episode 3?
I thought she was really great and cute and would love to see something more she's been in. This is how I noticed another of my favoite j-acresses Shida Mirai through a guest role on an episode of BOSS where I thought she was amazing. Can't find this girl on any cast lists though.

Yappari Neko ga Suki premiered in late 1988 as a “situation comedy” on Fuji TV.

Need help finding drama!
Hey all,
There is a drama I watched a few years ago which I want to watch again but I forgot the title. I am quite sure it is a japanese tv series.
Basically, it is about a girl who was born to a rich family but ended up getting switched for another girl who was born to a poor single mother. she grows up to be nice and pretty and develops a crush for a guy in her high school that turned out to be her biological brother. she finds out at some point who her actual family is and her real parents oppose the relationship between both of them. Also, at one point she gets cancer but can't be cured. Her brother and her run away to this house where she dies. The brother is a painter/artist i think.
That is all i can remember.
I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me with this.
Thanks!

I'm looking for the J-Drama in which a girl and a boy who are childhood friends, kill each others abusive parents, so that their murders won't be connected to either of them. They grow up, but a detective doesn't let the case go. I think it's adapted from a novel. It's actually a quite good drama but I forgot it's name. Could you help me with it please?
Edit: I found it. It's Byakuyako.

Friend found a mystery series at a local Goodwill store!!!!
Does anyone know what on earth this series is and if there are subs for it?

There are four DVDs and it appears to be in chinese with possibly japanese subtitles.
The action appears to be very slapstick humor oriented from what I can tell.
He ended up getting it for $2 but it was in four plastic stapled together CD envelopes and the silkscreening on the tops of the discs is professionally done so these are not DVD-R copies.

Do you happen to have the title written on the discs?aliensporebomb wrote:Seriously? Nobody knows what this is?
Possibly written at the page you got the image from.
Googling it might help.

The disc labels are in chinese, the only english is a copyright protection notice and the DVD logo.
That sure looks like the same cast. Interesting. EIGHTY episodes?!?!?! Well, it's worth a look to see if there are subs somewhere. Thanks for the help everyone!

Good evening, everyone.
Having grown up in the country, I'm somewhat of a nature-boy or even a country bumpkin. I have a strong bond to all creatures big and small, and my heart opens up when I'm surrounded by greenery.
I really like Japanese dramas.
But a lot of them only depict city life and I'm starting to get fed up of all those concrete jungle salaryman tales.
Therefore I'd like to find shows similar to "Kita no kuni kara", where nature plays a bigger role and may sometimes even seem a leading character and where (at least some) people not only relate to each other but also have a connection to Mother Nature.
But every drama that is set in the Japanese countryside (and is not of historical nature) is welcome. I'm interested in woods, mountains, rural areas, villages, coasts, the sea and so on.
Thank you!

@lo0O0ol: Check drama wiki for
Minna Mukashi wa Kodomo Datta
small village drama. City kids are 'imported' to save a school. They learn about nature and friendship. lovely nice drama.
Ushi ni Negai wo
agriculture students at training. too much clichee, but nice.
Ruri no Shima
placed on a small island. One of my favorite dama, I like the slow pace of it.
Hanayome wa Yakudoshi!
few farming scenes, funny.

Searching for a japanese drama series
Hi!
I found a very good Japanese drama in the old days and want to watch whole of it, because i just watch 1 episode of it.
Everything I remember:
A guy in a school (college or university) see a girl on the roof and thinks she'll jump. He run up to the roof and try to make her not to jump.
And she says she wasn't thinking of jumping. She was just looking out of the landscape.
This happened in the first episode, after he talk about the story he has about her. He standed in a roof when he started talking about the story about her.
What i Know, the main character, the girl, have some type of sickness, think it was cancer.
Hope this will help find this series i thought i wouldn't like (i wasn't in for any sad drama then) but i want to try again.
And sorry if i post this in the wrong section. Was trying to find the right place and found this section most suitable.

I get Saikou no Rikon in 404p RAW version and I found Nakuna, Hara-chan from an other site.
Is somebody interested to create a torrent for this drama?
I'll send you the links via Rapidshare.
I do not want to create a torrent myself, because my connection is very slow (I'm uploading & downloading with less than 50 KB / sec).
Thank you.

Japanese subs?
Is it true that we can no longer get Japanese subs? I really rely on Japanese subs because, particularly for the historical dramas, there are often specific words I don't understand. By seeing the kanji, it is easy to either understand the meaning directly or I can easily look the work up using jisho.org.
Really worried about this!
Thanks, Susan

Japanese Subs
Can't remember where I saw it but someone on one of the site said that because someone was selling the Japanese subs, they are no longer available generally. That being said, it seems like they are still available for many dramas. Certainly hope it's not true.

What is the name of this series?
It is about a Japanese woman who went into a bus and saw a black man acting all rude. Later she becomes a Japanese language teacher who, like, becomes a mentor to them.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I remember watching the first couple of episodes of this drama ages ago. It wasn't Pure or Daisuki!!.
The drama was about a young woman with a mental disability. She lives with a younger brother and a mother. The brother is a high schooler and very overprotective. At one point the mother tries to get her daughter a job at some kind of factory. There is a man (I think he recently lost his girlfriend/wife) who isn't very nice, but he befriends the young woman and seems to be the only one that can really keep her calm.(I think he was at teacher?) This drama probably aired during the late 1990s/early 2000s. Again, I know for certain that it isn't Pure. I want to say the brother was played by someone who was rather popular at the time.
This is driving me mad, so any help. . .?

Looked up the list of dramas he've been in at DramaWiki
http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Funakoshi_Eiichiro
Then, judging by the pictures it looks like it's an older drama.
Guessing Hotel Woman (1991)
It would be a little easier if you would happen to know the year, or the original title.

woman using online dating website to try & find suitable
this has never happened to me before but i was watching this j-drama but have now forgotten it's name (closed the firefox tab).. arrrgh
Drama is about a unmarried woman (think maybe mid 30s or late 30s max) and she faces pressure to find a suitable partner and get married. She is a manager at some company (not sure what they sell), but she is well experienced at her company and can handle complaints well.
Her mom is planning to get re-married to another man and they met on an online dating website. She starts going on that website and messaging and then later meeting these men. One guy she meets is compatible iwth her but she later finds out he lied about his income (he actually makes a lot of money but put down in his profile as someone who earns very little). That didn't work out. Next she meets a guy who makes and operates a tofu shop, his personality is fairly innocent. That's as far as I got.
Unfortunately, as far as the main actress and actors they're not popular or very well know (or I could have googled their works and tried to narrow down from there).
I think the drama came out in the last 12months... I already tried searching through wiki list of j-dramas for last few season and no luck...
Please help if you know. Thanks!

I'm trying to remember the name of this, but I unfortunately can't remember much about it.
It has to do with a young Japanese widow who married a Westerner, maybe American or Canadian. He died recently and she has to do... something. Maybe just move on with her life/come to terms with it?
The drama was somewhere around 2007-2009. Maybe a year before or after.
Thanks. I'm wracking my brain trying to think of more... But then again, I doubt there are many dramas about young Japanese widows whose Western husband died recently so maybe someone might remember it.
edit: I found it! It's Kaze ni Maiagaru Vinyl Sheet
