i thought this was going to be a kbs production. any ways i think LDG looks a little to old to be shin but i really like your wish list. but for the girl i would like to see the girl from MISA but i dout that will happen . oh well. i hope i realy dose get made cuz this project has been in limbo for ever now. it was going to air on kbs when choon hyan was airing but they couldn't get use of the place from the gov. so it was put on limbo. well i guess MBC will take a crack at it.

Someone told me this and I began to read it...it's very cool, it would make an awesome drama. Does anyone have anymore information on it?

"goong" means palace, which is the title of the manhwa (korean manga)

The story is about a girl who marries to the crown-prince of Korea (if Korea has a gov't system like Japan/England) and their marriage complication etc...

I'm quite satisfied with the manhwa as it is. I hope the drama would invoke the same emotions I went through while reading it. Kya~~ I'm so excited too!
But wait a minute, is that Shin?? That's not the way I picture him He better do a good job on portraying Shin, or else...well, let's not judge...I'm just gonna wait and see
On the other hand, I heard good reviews about the actress playing Chae Gyeong, and she looks as cute as the drawings on the manhwa minus the super huge eyes.

ah the manhwa is still ongoing...it's licensed by ice-kunion (if i'm not mistaken) so korean-mahwa (scanlator of goong) has decided to stop scanlating it at v08 (again if i'm not mistaken)...u can get the scanlation of v01 to latest releases at mangarebels or other sites provided at korean-manhwa official link

I dont understand your problems with the main cast but recasting would be a little difficult since this starts in 2weeks

Ii'm not really disapointed with the cast, it's not that bad, and until i haven't seen the acting, i won't judge...But i'm so happy they made it into a drama as i'm really fond of the manhwa x3

main main lead isn't all shin in looks compared to manga..but it's hard to find good lookers in real life...lol...

They're not that young. If the dates I've read are right, the guy playing Yul is 25 going 26 years old(older than LDG by a few months). Joo Ji Hoon(Shin) is 23 years old. Yoon Eun Hye(Chae Gyung) is 21 years old.
And their characters are playing high school kids. But for most of them, Goong would be their debut drama, and we haven't seen them act on other older roles like LDG or Won Bin, so they wouldn't look as awkward to be seen playing younger roles.
As long as they put on a school uniform and add those Asian faces to go with, we get high schoolers....royal high school kids, for that matter.

On second thought, I thought Kim Jung Hoon(Yul) looked the youngest among the bunch(18~19), and I was surprised to find out he is that old(25)...

Oh gosh, Shin is totally NOT what I imagined he would be! And he's not HOT! Okay, he looks hot in the picture hinako442003 posted in the first page, but based on the other ones I find the actor playing Yul hotter than him. Buuut, if he turns out to be one fine actor, it'll definitely be alright with me. Can't wait to see this subbed!

EDIT: Actually, I wouldn't have minded LDG playing Shin, since I can see him pulling off the 'hot prince' thing. But I have to agree that it would be a bit hard to comfortably imagine him as a highschool student because of his former 'police investigator' and 'company manager' roles.

Cant wait for Goong.
and I think LDG is charming enough to play Shin a lil old but a wonderful actor non the less.

I love the manhwa so I'm really happy but I'm trying not to think too much about it because I still have to wait for someone to upload each episode and for someone to sub it.

As for the cast, well, they are not as beautiful as expected but as long as they are really good at acting, I won't mind about it.

What do you guys think of the first episode?

Im really looking forward of watching this drama.

I watched the first ep and liked it. There are a few changes in the drama but if you read the manhwa then you can still understand what is happening without knowing any Korean.
If you like Yoon Eun Hye then you'll definitely like this drama. If you don't like her it's still worth watching it!

Yay a new drama to watch sweet =)

Watched the first ep this morning w/ really LQ raw, but I liked it, so far. Sometimes I wish the characters would just turn into their deformed selves like they do in the manhwa, but the drama still had the right amount of humor and, god forbid, drama in it. They did put in a couple of things which I really liked in the first chapter (or 2) of the manhwa, mostly some of the more amusing stuff, at least I thought.

I was watching the previews for episode 2 and it seems like that ep will be even better. XDD

it's looking gooooooood =D it's not exactly like the manhwa, but i didn't expect it to be anyways =) the hanbok, music and setting looked great =) looking forward to episode two! it's great how we get two episodes of this goodness per week! <3
