I watched the first half of the thing... hilarious. And the producers must have been on meth or something. Seriously. In case you don't speak English, here's an explanation of the first scene:
My (English-speaking-only) friend really wants someone to pick up this project, but as far as I know, no group has claimed it yet. (It is a brand new show, after all.) Correct me if I am wrong, so I can direct her to the fansub group.

You can do one of several things:
1.) Approach fansub groups and offer them your services, and see if any fansub group would like to pick up the project.
2.) Start your own fansub group by making a post on in the fansubbing forum, and see if you can get a timer (I'm assuming that you would translate). For soft subs, you basically only need a translator and a timer. If you want to be more perfectionist, you can get editors, QCs, and/or encoders for hardsubs.
3.) You can do it yourself. Learn to time. Some of the subtitling programs are very intuitive and easy to learn.

***Decided to re-post my own review from another forum I read.***
So far, the shows this year started out all right. Summer x Summer got my interest but then it just started to get annoying. I really had a blast with My Lucky Star, but it started to lose a little steam IMHO once it got to the later episodes. And Corner with Love is starting to get repetitive. Recently, I saw that 18 Jin Bu Jin's been getting a lot of views on YouTube. I didn't really want to start watching a new drama series when I hadn't finished watching the others, but curiosity got the best of me.
I was a bit hesitant at first because I thought it would be some gimmicky show that uses potty humor and American Pie-like jokes to attention whore itself. After seeing the first episode, I didn't realize how wrong I would be. The first three episodes blew me away in how much heart the characters showed, backed up by a touching soundtrack/score. By the fifth episode, the show actually keeps its awesome momentum (the last part of the fifth episode staked its claim as one of my favorite scenes in a Taiwanese drama). I'm not usually impressed by a Taiwanese drama series, but I now stand corrected.
What's there not to love about the show? The main character is a innocent guy that you want to root for as he deals with his peers through his year year in high school. His ensemble of guy friends are kooky in their own right with personalities that surprisingly mesh. The girls are a great counter to the guys and deal with them in their own clever methods. The main character's dad is an awesome addition to the cast that ranks up there to the dad from American Pie, while special guests Faye and Hei Ren add their own charm to an already charming show.
In all, 18JBJ is not just a great Taiwanese drama. It's a great show period. The humor doesn't try to be blatant like SxS, the acting isn't overly dramatic like in CWL, and the plot doesn't seem forced like in MLS. 18JBJ doesn't rely on overhyped star power or an overplayed pop soundtrack to drive the series. It doesn't have that. What it does rely on is excellent scriptwriting and great character chemistry to drive the series.
The only crime this show suffers is that it doesn't get the same attention as this year's other dramas. Don't get me wrong though. Those shows are good even in any other year, but 18JBJ is definitely a keeper that more Taiwanese high school dramas should follow.
Thanks SUBlimes for subbing this series!

Yeah! Propaganda!
Oh, does anyone know where I can get the shirt that Zhao Zhi JIe (I don't know his real name) is wearing? I think it's hilarious!

Oh my gawd, is no one watching this show? All my friends in Taiwan are raving about this show and it hardly gets much mention here. I so sad long time...
Anyway, who's finished seeing episode 5? The last scene really was amazing. I admit it, I teared up. And what's up with the dudes digging Pei Pei? I think Hao Zi's better looking. She's like a hawt version of Ella. That's right, I said it! Take that, gender ambiguous-commeting ethidda! (Hmm...the tearing up part doesn't help my case though)

I totally agree that Ah Jie is cute... like a little brother. Gah! No girl would date Ah Jie for long, though, because it would be tiring to deal with his insecurities... but maybe having a girl friend would fix that.
Ah Bi: definitely the best of the quartet.
The other two aren't really worth much.
Of the girls, I think that Pei Pei is the prettiest. She always has her hair done so nicely, and she's never crass or violent (overtly) like Hao Zi. Although, she does have the stereotypical evil underhanded femail plotting. :

Ah, another great episode in Episode 6. Some thoughts about Xiao Xin so far in this series:
Episode 1: Gawd, what an ass.
Episode 2: Gawd, what an ass.
Episode 3: Gawd, what an ass.
Episode 4: Gawd, what an ass.
Episode 5: Gawd, what an ass.
Episode 6: Gawd, what an a...eh, never mind.
I prefer the Ah Bi-Hao Zi arc, but the Xiao Xin-Pei Pei arc is a lot funnier. And it's good to see a hint of compassionate Pei Pei finally. Oh, and no post about a Xiao Xin-Pei Pei arc is complete without a Xiao Xin-Pei Pei pic.

OMG. This is officially my new favourite Taiwanese idol drama. Thanks so much to Sublimes (or should I say Submarines ;) ) for picking it up! Hilariously peculiar and self-aware (the "Aren't we doing an idol drama for teenagers?" line killed me), I hope it continues to be as funny.
So how about this boyband it seems to be plugging, EaStyle? I guess if Hana Kimi got me into Fahrenheit, something might happen here as well... Theme song is supercatchy.
*off to hang out in the AsianFanatics thread for this drama*

this show is beyond cute. i'm loving the ah bi/hao zi relationship although it sort of depresses me. it's sad how stuff like that happens :/ and xiao xing is starting to piss me off... except i feel bad for him at times (since i do have a heart )
and all the girls in this show are cute. i'm so sick of whiny girls like rainie or barbie. sorry if you guys are fans...

I love the show. And as a girl, I like the girls much better in this show, too. Especially Pei Pei... I wonder if that says something about the kind of girl I am...loosc wrote:this show is beyond cute. i'm loving the ah bi/hao zi relationship although it sort of depresses me. it's sad how stuff like that happens :/ and xiao xing is starting to piss me off... except i feel bad for him at times (since i do have a heart )

Hao Zi is my favorite character because she''s the most realistic. You Jia is annoying, Pei Pei is pretty but we all have to wait until episode 6 for her to show any personality. Qiao, she's too perfect in the sense that, she's shown as a character without flaw which makes her blah.
I don't understand why people aren't obsessed with this show, when I saw the first episode forever ago, I had a feeling that it would be big, I'm kind of disappointed in the lack of attention its received out of Taiwan.

After having watched the preview for ep7 for more than 4 times, I have to say I'm quite anxious for it. Ah Jie is just too cute... And of Hao Zi is an absolutely loveable character (and Ah Bi, too, from what was shown in the episode). Hopefully, it won't let me down.

yup definantly Hao Zi and Ah Bi are my favourite characters!! there sooo cute together..i kinda find Ah Jie and Qiao's relationship a bit annoying. especially Qiao when she says she doesn't know if Ah Jie likes her or not...but i'm only up to episode 5 so maybe things will get better for them 2.

I agree, I loved episode 7, but I think that even better than the comedy in the episode, is that THEY ARE SO CUTE~~~!!!! (Yes, that deserved all caps and multiple exclamation marks.) *squeal* I didn't think that Ah Jie could be so cute, considering... well... he's a wimp when it comes to dating. But dang, I love him now. And Ah Bi, too, of course, can't forget him. I can't believe that Hao Zi pulled such a girly thing in the end though... that is the oldest trick in the book of flirtation... (she was just missing the beach).XiaoPauli wrote:Oh gawd, I think I broke a rib from laughing too long. Darn you, Episode 7!

i don't know where you can find .avi files of this drama but if you donwload the Storm Codec pack then you would be able to watch virtually any file on your computer because it includes Media Player Classic which opens up an array of files. The link is:asionk wrote:Any idea where i can download or online streaming this serial? I tried all the website u guys posted, but the file is in rm. I don't know why my laptop can't play rm file although i've installed real player. So any avi or other file would be good. no subtitle is ok for me.

Hope that helps!

I've been rewatching the four subtitled episodes and god, does anybody have the feeling this drama is ENORMOUSLY UNDERAPPRECIATED?
I have been trying to get people into this because it's just hilarious, observant (the teenage issues of these kids are so recognizable) and sooo cute with the different romantic pairings.
The stars are all newbies of course but they really make me love the characters..
And the ending - which I haven't seen yet - was good, too, right, according to the opinion of you who are lucky enough to know Mandarin?
SUBmarine jia you!!

i'm tyring out this drama b/c it's apparently really good and unerrated. i can't find all the episodes on streaming htough. i'm not sure if i'm willing to take up precious harddrive space for this yet.
question though, the premise seems a lot like japanese drama stand up!!!. for those who know this one, is it like it?

阿本的 t-shirt ftw!
Just posting to say I've been catching up with this drama (just finished ep 6, going to watch 7 in a moment) and wanting to thank the subbing team (ethidda, Pauli etc!) for continuing with it. I'll have to try to pimp this one out to make sure more people watch it so your efforts pay off.
How did the drama fare in Taiwan, btw? I'm pretty sure I read it was a hit but I can't be too sure. Anyway, as cheesy and cracky as the drama can be, I like how it has some very genuine messages to tell its teenage viewers.

Nope... I always wondered why she was in the title... lolHyun wrote:Hey guys, i'm only at episode 7 now since I need the subs, but I noticed that Faye's character (the counselor) has disappeared. I was wondering, for those of you who have seen the entire series, does she ever come back?
I'm a huge F.I.R. fan so I was just curious.

hehe just started watching this nearly two days ago its really turning out to be pretty good, even though I do get annoyed sometimes when the guys act like asses namely Xiao Xin =P but I guess he has a heart too after seeing episode 6 ahh the little messages at the end of the eps are actually touching..when I first read about them I'd thought they'd be like that wannbe msn crap they people put on their names to sound cool=__= but it isn't!
I'm wondering also why this drama isn't getting that much attention, I just started watching this cause Xia Xun form Brown Sugar Machiatto was in it so I thought I'd have a go, lmao good choice yeah/
but seriously it kinda dissapoints me that a lot of my favourite dramas for the season aren't getting noticed, this includes BSM T__T..hmm maybe its the lack of the major idols like S.H.E, Fahrenheit,Mike He, Rainie and yeah so on...TKA's the prob only drama I watch thats well known...
P.S I just adore the theme song for 18 Jin bu Jin its so catchy! everytime I go out of my room to eat, or dinner I start singing sha lalalala
