WAAAHHH!! Is that it? I GET the fact that maybe the writers wanted to leave it at that but...AHHH! No confessing?! No hugging, kissing?! Anything?! Is it just going to leave it open ended?!
And it's not a good time but...what did the fairy tell Rei if she told him anything?
i admit im pretty disappointed with the ending... hope there is more to it... are we to expect more? Like a part 2?
this ending sounds like Kurosagi ending...... this is not an ending.... I wanted too a romantic ending..... can't wait to know if we will get a season 2..... or a movie ?
Oh, writers are .......... playing with our nerves....
By the way, thank you so much Graymouse for spoiling.... you saved my day.... now, waiting for the raw and for subs from Lunargen.....
Ja mata, minna san.... More than 100 pages, what a hit Prodai !!!!
I just finished watching the last episode, how annoying she runs outside he turns and poop that's it. Wow did that ever say please watch the movie or please watch season 2 or what. I mean yeah I am happy that she ran after him, but just show her saying I love you too and then they can run and hug and everyone is happy. really wtf!!!!!!!
I was happy with the ending. I was surprised when I saw something pop-up after the credits... but, it was deifinitely an ending befitting a Japanese drama. I've been watching these things for 13years... These types of endings make me nostalgic.
as have I but I was truely expecting a much better ending then that. Its obvious that they are going to get together but there is sooooo much storyline that is missing. Oh well....
Wow can't believe all of that was pre- ceremony!!!
Whats up with Jdrama endings!!!
OK peeps everyones HW tomorrow is to write the best alternate ending you can think of!!! Whosever one is the most satisfying I'll just go off and dream about ;)
Also should we start a poll one whethere there will be
a Part 2, a special or a movie ...
Thanks to all of you in Japan -- typing like maniacs -- I felt like i was watching it with you even though its almost 3:30 am here ;)

Thank you so much Graymouse and cykeichan and anyone else who was helping with the summaries.
And now I shall rant about the ending (and I haven't even SEEN the episode yet D:)
WTF?! IT WAS TOTALLY KUROSAGI ALL OVER AGAIN! But this time I REALLY don't understand it! Kurosagi...maybe because it was also based around swindling but ProDai was entirely based around Ken's love for Rei and now they have this retarded non-romantic ending!?
Wasn't this like...Pi's first real drama where he actually gets the leading girl or something?! No kiss or any hint of the romance he spent 10 episodes working so hard to get?! POOR KEN-ZOU!
On a more political point, I understand maybe the writers wanted to leave the ending open for the viewers to imagine. There prolly won't be a second season (I mean, what have they got the build on?) I REALLY REALLY HOPE THEY HAVE A SPECIAL THOUGH. Just to wrap things up if anything!
ARGH!
...maybe the YamaPi fangirls launched a last minute petition or something. DX HIDOI!
Yeah probally both their agencies wanted a soft ending like that so the two wouldn't really be connected ...
as far as fangirl (and fanboys?) heard they get pretty vicious if provoked. Wouldn't want MN to get ambushed ...
Well in my head I am adding on a scene of my own -- hmmm maybe something like the end of long vacation -- they're dressed right just running away but happily.
OK I actually think Tada is cool -- kinda reminds me of the Fiance in Orange Days.

Well, even though the ending wasn't entirely satisfactory, I guess it's a fitting ending since it's pretty obvious what will happen.
Yay for Tada~ This was probably some last-minute attempt to redeem his character but ah well. ;; <3
Not really a spoiler in the first section...but big spoiler in next section...
And seriously, what is it with YamaPi and his inability to have an on-screen kiss with the leading female? *Episode Five didn't really count...*
The *ceremony was before the wedding is akin to like, 'It was all a dream". Kind of still peeved about that
It's 11:27pm now. Thank you all you wonderful people in Japan typing like maniacs while watching this, you've made me feel like I was watching the episode right alongside you. x3 <333
Thank you and much love from here in Sydney <3

Darn Johnny. HE WAS THE MASTERMIND BEHIND ALL THIS
I find it a darn shame YamaPi's never allowed to be "rumoured" about with anyone. First it was Horikita Maki and now it's Masami; they've both been in several dramas with Pi and all as the person "paired" with Pi and no relationship on-screen whatsoever. *sigh* Pi's fame is too great...poor thing will probably have to keep going with JE until he's really old.
Haha, I just remembered something else with the final scene between Tada and Rei. After he let her run off to find/talk to Ken, he sat down, opened his other hand (which had a cufflink in it too) and said something to the effect of, "What the hell am I doing?/Why the hell am I doing this?"
I guess he's a good guy at heart. He seemed clueless earlier in the series, but by the end it turns out all he wants is to let a person be truly be happy with the one she loves. Good one, guy! I hope you become the fiance of "the girl I have always loved" in the future!
I never think of Tada as a bad guy.. and I'm not wrong, see ?!! lol Now that he let her go already, the rest is up to them... about the ending, it's quite common for jdorama nowadayz which I dun't like at all... I still prefer a CLASSIC "happy ever after ending", man.. why dun't the scripters understand me ?!
for Tada, he deserves someone better, I mean someone who only has him in heart I hope he will in his next drama
*peace*

I'll do my write up of the episode from what I remember.
Ken takes her to the school they are talking about the past blagh blagh blagh, Tada wants to take a picture but Rei is gone. Eventually they all come back and Eri arrives with the ring, she doesn't tell her anything about it she just puts it in her hand and walks away. Then Ken sees the camera and decides to just take a picture of himself to send him back. Rei sees the flash from him coming back to the present. Now it is before the speech, and Ken gives a great speech saying that he really loves Rei, they are both crying. He then goes to the chapel and cries. Rei beats herself up over the past as she watches the slide show and starts crying again. Ken leaves, its the same cabby from the first episode. Then Tada gives her the chance to fix her problem if she picks which hand he is holding a cuff-link but he put one in each. So she runs after yelling kenzou but he can't hear her. Ken tells the driver to just take him anywhere. Later Rei is at the chapel the fairy appears and tells her to go to Kenzou. The end credits come up and next we see Ken pushing the cab, we hear Kenzou, he turns and then it whites out that's the end, and we all get angry.
The romantic parts came during Ken's wedding speach; the romanticism was there when Rei thought about how Ken was always the one by her side--how, regardless of how happy she was with the situation, she would never admit it... how she came the the realization that she was the one who "Gave up."
Hugging and kissing really have no places in Japanese dramas, especially one as pure as this one; it's not just Japanese.
Unless you're watching smut, you won't even see more than the typical "dead fish" closed-mouth lip-peck; nothing more than un-puckered lips being pressed up against one another.
That's just the nature of these things. It's those culture differences we have to embrace when we watch.

Yeah, I kind of knew Tada would let Rei go...that's also a little disappointing 'cos his character was a little bland and suddenly we're supposed to believe he's the noble one...and Ken-zou didn't even do much...

Hmm...you make a fair argument. I'm pretty sure all the romance/feelings were in his speech (though I salute the writers for not making him confess in his speech, that would've been unacceptable) and I understand why the writers chose to end it that way.
Though I still believe a special is in order- maybe showing Rei and Ken's wedding or something. It just feels like it's wrapped up but there's just a little corner showing or a loose ribbon or something

You know I never thought I would see a decent kiss in an asian drama -- especially ones with younger actors untill I saw the kiss from the kdrama Princess Hours/ Goong -- I think they were both 1st time leads too.
Now that was a good 1st kiss.

On a total side note -- my friend is getting married and we were just talking last night about what makes a kiss that billion people are watching look good? Has there ever been a good Jdrama kiss?
Where people can actually choose the ending they want and delete Tada from the one they don't want. HAHA
BUT STILL!!!!!!
I can't believe the scriptwriters did this!
After all the good writing and attention to details and blah blah, I can't believe they wrap it up in a open ending.
They suck.
I demand a sequel! They can call it Kekkon Daisakusen and show Ken and Rei's quarrels as a married couple while showing Tada's turn at proposal daisakusen with his childhood friend.
If not, I demand a Proposal Daisakusen special! And they had better show as Ken and Rei's wedding!

Good night everyone <3
Graymouse, do you mind if I friend you?
Yeah, sure I don't mind if you friend me. I recorded all 11 episodes on my HDD.
I DID really enjoy Ken's speech. It even made me tear up a bit! I and my friend were a bit shocked that he was saying this stuff there at the party in front of everyone, but I guess he had to say something at SOME point!
Also, it was during the speech where I realized that they weren't married yet. Not sure if it was just a Japanese nuance or not, but when Ken said, "Demo, kyou Rei wa Tada-san to kekkonSHIMASU" (or something along those lines) and not "SHIMASHITA" I knew something was up.
Actually, for those who haven't seen the episode yet, the more I think about it, if you haven't actually seen and heard Ken's speech, you can't judge the drama's ending in full. Sure, the ending was kinda "blah", but that scene did do a lot to help the story along and shove it towards an ending in a short amount of time. Probably more transpired and was affected in those 3 or 4 minutes of Ken's speech and then Rei's reflections upon his words and the slide show pictures than in all the previous 10 episodes combined.

If you're talking the most genuine and "passionate" kiss (like...one that looked like a kiss instead of cheek-bumping) I have to say MatsuJun's kissing in Kimi wa Petto was just...whoa. And he's a JE boy too
@Graymouse: Ooh, I so wish ProDai would air here...I could record it on my HDD too. D8

Perhaps I missed something....I though Ken did confess in his speech. He said that he loved Rei and still does but respects that she is married to Tada.

You are f***in right about Jun matsumoto kiss.... Pi is so a shame boy ? or it is what JE wants we think about him (because when he dances, he is not shame at all......... so hot) ?
It must be something extremely touching, if not they wouldn't all cry. AWWW!
I'm still in denial about the ending and I keep thinking there must be some special coming up or something. There has to be!!! Or dvd! Anything is fine! I just want to see Ken and Rei's wedding. And I wasn't even a fan of Yamapi or Nagasawa Masami in the beginning. This is weird.
Anyway for those people who are hoping to watch the Chinese raw streaming video tonight, there will not be any.
But people who read Chinese subs, I think competition is high between the 2 subbing groups tonight, Chinese subs MAY come out at record time. HEHE YAY!
well, it took me over an hour to some what get over this ending.
Ken was backed up in a corner and had no way out. I am glad that he got out what he wanted to say after all those years. It was a very emotional ending.

As far as the speech I am going with whatever you thought!!! <- sorry I wasn't thinking ab9ut the speech at all -- I think when I was cutting out part of the quote I didnt get all of it. sorry for the ocnfusion.
I think we were talking about prodais lack of kissing I think we diveged off into kissing (or lack of kissing) in jdramas and JE boys in general.
BTW I am going to have to dust off my KWPetto and look for the kiss.

Watch "Long Vacation" starring Kimtaku and Yamaguchi Tomoko. That one definitely had good kissing scenes in it. The difference between that and Proposal Daisakusen is not the age of the characters (that is about the same?) but the aspect of the characters' lives-- they are all at some stage where they are looking for fulfillment or acceptance of their situation in life. Proposal Daisakusen, in contrast, is about realizing and appreciating the wonderful people you already have around you, imho. So the endings would be slightly different....
But I think all those of us who speak any Japanese at all should go make a racket on the feedback boards for a special. That's how they usually come about. :D
Bye bye eveyone -- need to go to sleep it is now 4:16 AM and I need to get up to go to work soon (today is definetely a Starbucks Day). Ill drop by later especially after I finish the marathon catch up session I have planned and the finale's subs are released
Again guys thanks for the live blog and for everyones thoughts. Hope I see you guys in the next round of jdrama dqs/ obsessions.

@ No moon -- feel free to include me in the racket ;)

....after the slideshow Rei was crying and Tada looked over asked if she is ok and Rei said she was. After the reception Tada and rei walked into the next room. Tada asked the wedding helper if she would excuse them. Tada looks at Rei and says "you have that same look on your face just like the one you had on your 20th birthday. So, Lets make a deal". *tada takes of his cuffling and puts it behind his back and twirls it around and puts his fist in front of him* If you find the cuffling you should go and solve that problem that you have. Rei of course chases Ken and catches up to him just as he gets in his cab and drives off. Rei yells at the top of her lungs Kenzo! She misses him by a few seconds. (when Rei runs off we see another cut scene of Tada. Holding the one cuffling in his hand he looks at it then he opens his other hand......there was two. He pulled another off when he had his hand behind his back! )She goes and sits in the church on the front pew and reflects on Ken. Shows the inscription on the ring. The fairy shows up and talks to Rei. They talk for a minute and the fairy tells Rei that they just have bad timing...or something like that. and Rei runs out the church door and a white light shows and then it cuts to Ken in the cab leaving......credits...rolll.........Ken is pushing the cab.......and Ken hears a familiar voice. "Kenzo" He looks up and sees a white light and smiles
This particular scene tells a lot about both characters.
You know Tada was testing her. She had Ken in her heart all along. If she didn't she would have never played that game or better yet wouldn't have left Tada standing there. Rei didn't know what she wanted until she lost it. Just like the fairy siad in episode 1. You don't know what you got until its gone.

Can someone post a Japanese translation requesting for a special? In particular requesting for a Ken and Rei wedding. We don't want the scriptwriters getting it wrong and putting Tada and Rei together again. HAHA
if you want hot/passionate kiss scenes just watch one of kimura takuya's romance dramas. the man knows how to kiss! they're not good just for a je person but for jdramas in general.
well, he can't really be considered a je boy but more like a je man. maybe je is going for a chaste image for yamapi in dramas? the only kiss i know of is his kiss with his gf in the drama stand up. but it was really bad and he just stood there pressing his lips on hers. i don't know how the directors passed that as a "hot" kiss. but it seems like the younger je boys aren't doing any kissing scenes. kame had some in tatta hitotsu no koi but from what i saw they were pecks. it is funny though htat these boys do ero-dances when they perform but they can't have a hot kiss scene.
well, now that the series is complete, i'll just wait for all the subs to be done and then watch it all at one go. so many hours of yamapi in a row!
Yep! That was Mikio! I've never seen him in any dramas besides ProDai, but I wasn't looking for him either. He was also in a Volvic bottled water CM during SMAPxSMAP.

Another jdrama with good kisses was Pride. (although the leads were definitely older)

I've been reading this thread for a while now even though I haven't made any comments and I want to thank everybody for the very insightful discussion that there has been about this series. And I especially want to thank Graymouse and kev and everybody else who made live comments while the final episode was airing!
okay and the only thing i read so far is that graymouse is disgusted. T.T
so i wont read any spoilers and just watch it when I DL it T.T
I can't believe you oversleep! LOL, just like the begining of the series!
I have got over my shock and have mellowed out considerable compaired to 4 hours ago. I am begining to understand why things happened the way they did. I don't agree with the ending but nonetheless.....an ending was what we got. When all the dust has settled I would love to discuss the series with everyone!
Well, it was one heck of a ride I will tell you that much! I am really intrested in know what was said during the "turning" point of the storyline. Looking forward to your subs and please please don't try and rush them because there is a lot of dialog in this one. (not saying that you have been rushing the subs because you have done an outstanding job thus far! Thank you for your hard work throughout this series.)Sorry for my play by play action wasn't the best in the world. Whenever the raw gets uploaded please watch it even if you don't know a lick of Japanese because you can get what is going on just by watching it and its true a picture can say 1000 words!

I LIED. i just spent the last 10 minutes reading through your spoiler. i got pissed pissed with the ep, but then, they're just summaries heehee it may sound abrupt or f-ed up on text, but we don't know how the screenplay and acting went on. so maybe i am yet to be satisfied hehehe. and don't worry! even if i release fast, I don't rush a job hehehe. I always make sure that my subs are the best i could make them heeheehee.
but my god, as of now, i feel like they've put in enough matter (of lack thereof) for a special! (oh no. more subbing. T.T )

@graymouse - hahah i forgot to say thank you! heehee and you're still awake ne~
and where the h is joeboy?! yuhoooooo!! joeboy!! labas na!
Yeah, its almost 2am and got to go to work by 8am. LOL, I just got so worked up over this episode. Oh btw, the acting was beautiful. From Rei, to Ken, to Tada, to Eri and the rest of the gang. (very very very emotional scenes in this one. I think Masami cried a river in this one) I believe the acting was awsome throughout the series. Great cast!

Prodai Chinese subs may be out in record time today/tomorrow morning. Well mainly because there is such fierce competition between the 2 subbing groups. 1 group released it at 4or 5 am last week? So I am betting the other group will try to beat it this week. HAHA
So many spoilers! I'm going crazy! I started reading them, but the I managed to stop before anything really happened.
And then I saw all the WTFs and and so I decided it was best to stay away
so now I'm all
