in recent ranking in one of entertaiment magazinesarabian wrote:They are two..
Yamapi & kame..
1- Takuya Kimura came first again.
and
2- Jun matsumoto
kame and yamapi are still kohais (juniors) and they still got long way to get to their sempais state. in japanese entertaiment and specially between Johnny boys the ranking between kohais and sempais is respected dearly. these two are cute enough for me and i watch all their dramas but they are not in their top form yet like takuya. the matter of cutness is something else.

YAMASHITA TOMOHISA.
It's a hard question because there's differing views between groups. As a younger JE fan, it's most likely Yamapi, Kame, or Jin. For the older types it's Kimura Takuya hands down (even though he doesn't technically qualify since he's 35) because all his dramas are pretty much hits and SMAP is still really popular with the older crowd. Second would most likely be Jun because he's pretty experienced in the acting catagory and not to mention Arashi has their fair share of fangirls (not that I'm saying Arashi is for old people, but I'm just pointing out that they've been around longer than say NEWS or KT).
Personally, I think Yamapi is the most popular .

Hmm...
I personally am a fan of Kame, but I pretty much know that he doesn't rank that high on the popularity scale since he's still very new compared to the other JE idols. YamaPi has a larger fan base and I admit he's got the looks and the acting skills (he really shone in Nobuta wo Produce and Kurosagi)... But like many has mentioned here, Kame and YamaPi are both from
the later generation and have still got a lot to learn from their seniors.
Kimura Takuya is a veteran actor and it's no wonder that stats say that he's the most popular... I practically grew up watching his dramas! (though I can't remember most of them now... what was that one that he played a dedicated pianist??)
And also Takizawa Hideaki... He's a cutie and a good actor... But he's been MIA for quite some time already...
Anyway this thread is talking abt the younger ppl...
So my conclusion is MatsuJun! (Though I've never watched his dramas and don't really like him that much personally. ... Sorry MatsuJun fans! )

I'm not Namida Iro but I'll answer for her if she doesn't mind .. it's YAMAPI in his latest drama, Proposal Daisakusen! It was in the first episode where he was running late for Rei's wedding. Goshh I'm such a fangirl.. I remember down to the very scene !! Oh and I love the gifs Namida Iro! Pi is sooo smexy !Squall_Ryuji wrote:Well, I only like yamapi in Nobuta wo produce, and may be kurosagi also...
By the way, Namida Iro, the 2nd photo in your signature is so funny, what movie is it from ?
Between 18 and 25, I'm going to go with Matsumoto Jun. Yamapi certainly has his fair share of dramas, and is a very popular idol, but I think as an actor, Matsujun is more popular. He's starred in more hit dramas than Yamapi: Gokusen, Kimi wa Petto, HYD1, HYD2 and Bambino versus Yamapi's Nobuta wo Produce, Kurosagi and Proposal Daisakusen. As for overall popularity, in terms of being a singer and such? That's a bit harder to say.

takky, nino, & jun are really good actors. YAMAPI and kame's dramas are good and popular, but their acting's not that WOW material.. i see yamapi improving a lot thoguh hehehee can't wait for kurosagi!!!
i wish oguri shun was in je =[ he's SUCH a good actor!!! and is friends w/ alot of je guys..
jin hasn't been in enough dramas in my opinion... and isn't especially great either.. just good looking
oh and for lil je boys.. Yamada Ryousuke is super cute his acting could be a lil better though, but still he's just a kid haha, go watch out for him!
srry for the off-topic-ness...

Matsumoto Jun ---- HANDS DOWN. (feet down too)
His acting is way more professional than his singing career (sadly) but I still love him to death. His talent of acting practically has surprised me from the beginning and now it's like a drug that I need cuz damn, that boy can act his butt off :]
second choice goes to.....KAME! <3 he's improving at light-speed :]

Matsumoto Jun = very good, very convincing, very versatile.
As a second, I think that Kamenashi Kazuya is the one to look out for. There is still room for a lot of improvement, but the boy has a lot of potential.
And as for Yamapi, he doesn't have a lot of facial expressions now, does he? (I'm gonna get bricked by yamapi fangirls, but oh well..) I still enjoy his dramas though, but they are nowhere near mindblowing.

Ofcours Pi!! Yamapi!!!
Anyway.. you can see the variety of his roles... starting with IWGP, then Stand Up, Nobuta, Sore Wa, Dragon Zakura, Kurosagi, ProDai.. and then Movies... Shounen wa tori ni natta.. Byakkotai... where he managed to act as a samurai (wow) and now.. he's doing a film 'Kurosagi' ... and I have a feeling that that's gonna be HUGE!!!
pluss.. He's the best looking JE!!!
I think he's the best looking actor in the world
And.. WOW.. I didn't know Nino was in 'Letters from Iwo Jima' wow, wow, wow!
haha that's great ;)

Well I think the Kimura Takuya is a very good actor but since his kinda old you don't see many gals going kyaaaaa over him in this forum
Kimura Takuya and Nagase are by far the better JE actors
In terms of popularity then its Yamapi. Yamapi is a decent actor loved his role as Akira in Nobuta but I think Jun is the better actor out of all the younger Johnny's

the most popular JE actor of all time has to be Kimura Takuya and SMAP members.
but for the young actors under 25, I have mixed feelings about this because the answere could be either Takki or MatsuJun or Ryo or YamaPi/Kame (Shuji to Akira) depending on the timeline chronologically when their dramas were popular.
Takizawa Hideaki because of "Majo no Joukon" and his growing status after that drama.
then, with "Kimi no Petto", Jun's popularity rose but of course he was already well-known then as member of Arashi. And......of course...along goes "HanaDan" and BAM! MatsuJun's popularity skyrocketed!
"1 Liter of Tears" managed to show the spotlight on Ryo as an actor with his role as "Asou Haruto".
but in more recent years, Pi-chan and Kame have been garnering a lot fans especially with "Nobuta no Produce" which in turn had newer fans turn to Pi's older dramas and look forward to his newer ones + the "Kurosagi" movie. I think with "NwP", a lot of the fans end up doing/saying silly things that Pi's and Kame's characters did/say in the drama which managed to maintain how special their characters were: "Akira SHOCK!", "flapping arms while running down the stairs" <~ *ahem*, "bye-bye-cycle", etc. Or the "gunshot finger pose and 'BANG!'" from "Kurosagi"~ Also, Pi might have been coined popular in the late 90's with "IWGP" but unknown to his newer fans until after they discovered him in "NwP"~ Me? it was "Stand Up" where Pi caught my eye. but "NwP" had a lot to do with my Pi-chan fandom.
though, for some of the older members of D-A, some might agree that Nino and Sho are the more popular actors before "NwP" was a hit. "Stand Up" (with Nino and Pi) and "Kisarazu Cat's Eye" (Junichi and Sho) were pretty popular dramas~
Then there are the other JE rising stars: Jin, Toma, and even Koki!....and recently, Junno! ROFLMAO~
In terms of Big Screen: the members of Arashi with their "Pikanchi Life" prequel and sequel + Sho's "Kisarazu's Nihon Series" Movie SP~
nowadays, I can vouch for the next big stars of JE: Yamada Ryosuke and Fujigaya Taisuke~ or maybe I'm just biased to Taisuke-chan because he's my favorite Jr~ but his acting in "Byakkotai" was very good! and of course Ryosuke has already got supporting leading roles in "Tantei Gakuen Q" and the more recent "1 Pound no Fukuin"
popular JE actors over 25 but not including SMAP members? Nagase Tomoya and Okada Junichi~ I don't think I need an explanation for why, right? *winks*
however, one thing I can be sure of: Kimura Takuya = most popular JE actor ever!

I think Ninomiya Kazunari is the best actor of the bunch, although Jun has had some very convincing roles, like the last 10 or so minute scene of Boku Wa Imouto Ni Koi Wo Suru where they are playing rock-paper-scizzors. Kame is fun to watch, and Yamapi as well. Yamapi has had some great acting scenes in Dragon Zakura and Proposal Daisakusen...he also has the Kurosagi movie coming out.
Kimura Takuya and Nagase Tomoya are great actors as well~Kimutaku was nominated for best actor at the Japan Academy Awards in 2006 for playing a blind samurai in Bushi no Ichibun, but JE declined him saying he was up against more respected actors or something.
As for most popular...I'd say Yamapi right now for the younger generation and Kimura Takuya of past(although he's still mega mega popular)

^In terms of best acting, I would have to agree that Nino is by far the most talented~ and I had came to that conclusion even before he was casted in Clint Eastwood's film "Letters from Iwo Jima".
And then, there's Toma whose credibility as an actor continues to amaze me~
As far as popularity goes, best acting doesn't always equate most popular.

Nino as in Ninomiya Kazunari right? I've only seen him in Stand Up!! So I don't know alot about his acting credentials. He was in Letters from Iwo Jima? I haven't seen that movie How big a role was it?
Hmmmm I haven't heard of half of the JE boys that people have been saying! And everyones like using nicknames which makes it even more difficult for me to know who you guys are on about! lol - I'm not into JE's (as in the music but I do like the odd track. I don't make it my buisness to find out who's who in JEs and I really don't have any idea what band or group a JE actor is in lol) and I don't think I ever will I dislike the whole of Johnny's Entertainment because to me it seems they have an unhealthy stranglehold on the Japanese entertainment buisness. I mean alot of Doramas have a Johnny's in them. The mind boggles really there are alot of more talented non-Johhny actors yet they don't seem to be getting much recognition or big roles. Thats my perception but I don't know scant about the Japanese television industry and perhaps JE's doesn't have as much an influence as I think..... but I still am wary about JE's as a whole. To me they seem like an organised crime family (I got this perception that JE's harass producers or whoever into signing up a Johhny's for an upcoming dorama or something dunno why...Seriously like the Mafia, dictating the specifics of a dorama and who else should star in it as well.....I fear they have the power to drive alot of other talent agencies into the groud if they say something against them )
Still whatever I think of JE's there are some talented actors that come through which is good and they are not just getting recognition simply because they are from JE's or some sort of Idol beforehand (Which is prob the case for most of the JE's alot of crazy fans going kyaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! I gotta concede Johhny is one clever and very astute man)
Anyways I think Kubozuka Yousuke is a very good actor indeed probably better then most of the Johhny's but he had to go and have that accident Hopefully he can regain momentum and kick start his dorama career. I wish he hasn't given up on that

Like what the heck!? Johnny declining Kimutaku from being nominated? Thats is just WTF! Its not his right to do that! If Kimutaku has been nominated then its because his done good just because his up against some other actors who Johnny percieves as "more respectable" is well beyond belief...Its just stinks and I am disgusted...This is what I mean like some Mafiosokoyama22 wrote: Kimura Takuya and Nagase Tomoya are great actors as well~Kimutaku was nominated for best actor at the Japan Academy Awards in 2006 for playing a blind samurai in Bushi no Ichibun, but JE declined him saying he was up against more respected actors or something.

^Kubozuka Yosuke is an amazing actor. He's had a few movies since the accident and I really hope he has a lot more. Just a bright non-JE star thats incredibly fun to watch on the screen. (If you haven't seen this guy, you need to watch the drama Ikebukuro West Gate Park and the Jmovie Go)
I agree that there are a lot of non-JE actors that are better, although most of the time that doesn't sell. Popularity tends to sell. And most JE actors take it very seriously to do their best in acting, a lot of them are really good.

I'll probably say Matsu Jun, his dramas projects tends to get great/decent ratings nothing really low in particular.
However my fave je actor is Yamapi, but he still got a long way to go. But he does get decent ratings since any of his drama projects in 2005 and on.
Whoever say kame, >.< his dramas ratings are REALLY REALLY low however nobuta wo produce was one of his better project excluding the already popular sequal of gokusen2.
btw, what accident are you talking about regarding Kubozuka Yousuke , i like him in long love letter w/ yamapi, his looks and acting. i watched him in other dramas as well, gto, ikeburo west gate park, etc.

Popularity sells exactly and most of these actors were popular before they came into acting and I think that they are riding that fame even if their acting isn't all that....thats just me and I'm not saying that JE actors suck I like alot of them Its like in Bollywood (Hindi, in India, film industry) you have ALOT of "Star Kids" whose parents were stars and they too followed into acting and most of them got there break because of their parents or family influence....Some parents even launch their own kids and its that kinda thing with JE I think that alot of them got a certain role because they are in J.E.
Hmmm BTW dumb question but do auditions take place for roles for J-doramas? (Prob do for most parts) because I read somewhere on this board I think that a member of J.E. doesn't really have a choice in what Dorama he stars in and that whoever is in charge picks for them....

it pretty hard to decide who is the best actor, because i think everyone have something different from everyone else...
i respect actor and actress, becasue acting is not something that is easy...remembering line is already hard, but they also have to act and say the lines at the same time..it so difficult..
about being popular? i dont know..i guess it depend who have the most work?

Kubozuka Yosuke's accident was ...
I'm not sure what JE actors go through to get roles. I think the production team of the Drama itself might kinda decide who they want for the role and present it to JE, or JE advertises the boys for different roles. I'm not exactly sure..
I think many believed it to be suicide, but that was denied by Yosuke, etc.On June 6, 2004, he survived a fall of approximately 26 meters from the balcony of his ninth-floor condominium in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, sustaining only minor injuries.

Kame's drama ratings might not all be high, but in terms of his popularity (not the dramas), I have to admit he's very popular.babyxdorkii wrote:Whoever say kame, >.< his dramas ratings are REALLY REALLY low however nobuta wo produce was one of his better project excluding the already popular sequal of gokusen2
He was the supporting lead after Watanabe Ken in "Letters From Iwo Jima". so in terms of importance, I would have to say his role was pretty big.sahansah wrote:Nino as in Ninomiya Kazunari right? I'd recommend it, but to be honest.......I didn't like his wishy-washy character there much. And to see the extent of Nino's acting ability, I recommend "Haikei, Chichiue-sama" & "Yamada Taro Monogatari"~ They were good dramas and I'm sure you'll come to agree that Nino can act.
It's true, there are so many better actors out there who aren't part of Johnny's. For example: Yamada Takayuki, Tsumabuki Satoshi, Narimiya Hiroki, Odagiri Joe, Kubozuka Yosuke~
All incredible actors and very popular in their very sense......and they're popular not only for their good looks but also because they can ACTUALLY act! lol~
and while we're at it, let's not leave out the veteran actors: Fujiki Naohito (), Sakaguchi Kenji, Kitamura Kazuki, and Sorimachi Takashi~
but then I digress.........sorry for going off-topic here~
Ninomiya Kazunari also was pretty good in a few Tanpatsu format dramas like "Marathon"(he played an autistic boy), and Sukoshi wa, Ongaeshi ga Dekitakana(played a struggling cancer patient). In most of his dramas/movies he plays a narrator-type character with a quiet voice, and is really really convincing.
I think the most popular JE actor right now, in terms of both fans and projects, is definitely Matsumoto Jun.
What he lacks in music he compensates in acting Jun's acting is very convincing.
Probably his parts have a much bigger public impact than any of any other JE actor under 25, including Nino and Yamapi...
But then again, among the others, isn't Jun the only one making the "serious romance" kind of films? What I mean is, his public may also have a wider range of ages than the others, making him more popular.
What he lacks in music he compensates in acting Jun's acting is very convincing.
Probably his parts have a much bigger public impact than any of any other JE actor under 25, including Nino and Yamapi...

Yamada Taro Monogatari ~ Thats on my list >< (Got a backlog)
He was quiet in Stand Up!! I thought he was pretty decent in it...lol if he plays the same type of characters over and over again of course his going to be convincing at it

Oh do give "Yamada Taro Monogatari" a try. His character isn't all that quiet, just lost in thought at times.........and if you've read the manga, you'll probably notice the likeness in his portrayal as Yamada Tarou.
and yep, "Letters From Iwo Jima" won 1 Academy Award and 1 Golden Globe Award but was nominated for much more:
