I've only seent the first few episodes, it looks like it is set in Enoshima... Kamakura isn't too far away from there, kind of south below Yokohama I think.

Hey,, anyone notice at around 8 minutes into episode 3, erika says "misaki always defended cos I always sick".

then takayuki just lets it go by as if nothing happens at all. Isn't that a blooper? cos that would mean he knows about her illness and all that.

I can't really remember that conversation off the top of my head, but maybe she just meant that as a vague reponse? Kouji might have thought she was kind of sickly when she was younger, but he still wouldn't have figured out about her illness. Or I could be completely wrong.

Honestly, I dun like this show a bit. It's true that's Erika's acting is good. But after seeing her in "1 Litre of Tears" this show is kinda repeative. Shouji really has a dumb look on his face ( I feel that's he's too old to act at that age). The girl with Erika was scared the heck out of me when she opened her eyes widely. Beside, Erika looks way too healthy in the whole series to die at any moment and A person with sickness who lives in the dark, can't be so open like her, (my opinion) the way she kissed Shouji, the way she dress and communicate....blah blah.

Also, the show is too predictable. Kinda boring. The moment the "bad guy" who Shouji had a fight with appears, I already predicted what happens.

Lastly, the ending, the scene Amane dies in Shouji's arms was corny and so was the camera angle.

I'm not saying this because I dun like Erika

dammit i wish i hadnt read that.. crap now i know the ending..

No, you will not find the movie (or any other movie) at D-addicts because of the No Movie Policy.

To jc1762, you were wondering whether this is a blooper as Kouji does not react to Kaoru's comment that she is sick alot when she was young. The reason that it is not a blooper is that it is quite normal for young children to be sick alot so child care is very important. Friendship develops sometimes.... e.g. need a friend to catch up with homework etc..

This is the point in the episode 3 where this conversation comes up, for others interest.

me starting watching this drama when a friend told me about it. ^^ I have seen 1L of tears, and loved it. This drama has a different feel to it, not as heavy as 1L. More light hearted. ^^ Love Erika.
Saw densha otoko movie so I have a rough idea on the main male lead in this drama ..hehe...he is quite good in acting ... ^^
so there are movie versions of both taiyou no uta and 1L of tears...i think i like the drama more...as it starred erika ^^

Yes, I though this Taiyou No Uta had a similar structure to Bu liao qing 不了情 = Love without end which was in the cinemas in 1961.. and the main theme sung by the actress Lin Doi also won the 9th Asian Film Best Actress and Best Song titles. "獲第9屆亞洲影展最佳女主角(林黛), 最佳主題歌特別獎". However no matter how you look at the stories, all these variations have a main plot of love, incurable disease, great courage against adversity, a sad end that love is not to be but endless in one's heart!

Originally, they announced that they were going to adapt and modernize the 1993 HK movie Endless Love into Taiyou no Uta... but in the process of updating/modernizing the story the scriptwriter eventually decided to adopt a different script that he had written before which miraculously had the same motif/theme as Endless Love.

I also finished the series yesterday ... and I don´t know what to think about it right now.
It was really really a great series ... but ... I personally hate the end .. y'know .. only 30 more minutes and it would have been a great end ... WHY oh WHY !!! The timing was sooooo horrible ;___; .... I cried a lot in episode 10 (yes, yes it was not as sad as 1 litre of tears, but I liked the end of 1 litre of tears somehow ...) .... AAHHH ;___; ....

But besides the end it was really a great and touching story and I love the songs ^^

this drama was good, i liked it, but takayuki yamada always plays in dramas were he or his love one dies. pretty sad
