Japanese SoTW Poll (06/11/06) - Double Kitchen

Post by LittleGreenGrasshopper » May 29th, '06, 02:24

Since it's my first update in ages, I'm going to keep it simple and stick with keeping the 2 runner ups from the previous poll and just adding two new ones. Jannah and mizune is doing such a good job of coming up with good picks. I hope this week's picks will be just as good  Now, let the voting begin!

If you're willing to seed any of the series in the poll, please post a reply here or in the JSOTW: Looking For Volunteer Seeders thread or PM any one of the Geinou. There are still several series which don't have any volunteer seeders, so do volunteer for those! The more seeders we have, the more variety there will be in the future JSoTW polls.

Many thanks goes out to those seeding the current JSoTW (Princess Hiro). Thank you for your support! :salut:

In the now immortal words of thetenken........

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU MAY BE LIABLE TO THETENKEN'S EXPRESSIONS OF DISPLEASURE.

Taking nominations for the next series of the week. Let me know what you want to add to the poll and I'll add it. From this point forward only series that have a volunteer seeder will be put up into the poll. People can nominate whatever they want, but the series won't become a poll option until there is a volunteer seeder...

PLEASE NOMINATE AND VOTE ONLY FOR THE DRAMAS OFF THE COMPLETED DRAMAS LIST:
http://www.d-addicts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3500
(06/14/2004: As of this date, the Series of the Week is now officially only Japanese dramas with English subtitles.)

The nominees are:

Joou no Kyoushitsu - info, torrent
Double Kitchen - info, torrents
Konya Hitori no Beddo de - info, torrents
Ai no Uta - info, torrents

Previous Japanese Series of the Week:
Oyaji, Otousan, Koi ga Shitai x3 (Where is Love?), Strawberry on the Shortcake (S.O.S.), Cheap Love, Big Wing, Hotman, Sutaa no Koi, From the Heart, Love Generation, A Sleeping Forest, Story of One Century, Friends, Younger Men, Merry Christmas in Summer, Shota no Sushi, Koibumi/Love Letter, Waterboys, Aoi Tori (Bluebird), Meguri Ai, Konna Koi no Hanashi, One Million Stars Falling From the Sky, News no Onna, Mukodono/My Husband, Food Fight, Heaven's Coins/Hoshi no Kinka, Forbidden Love, My Little Chef, With Love, Shopping Hero, Stand Up!!, 101st Marriage Proposal, Seija no Koushin, Maria/Mariya, Asunaro Hakusho, Summer Snow, Pretty Girls, Trick 1/2/3 (JSoTM), Itsumo Futari De, Tokyo Wankei, Denchi ga kireru made, Koi ga shitai (DVD), Wedding Planner, Suekko chonan ane sannin, Koi wo nan nen sundemasu ka/Dreams of Romance, Beach Boys, Keizoku, Nanisama, News no Onna, Aoi Tori, Midnight Rain, Chakushin Ari, Aishitteiru to itte kure (Say you love me), Dekichatta Kekkon (Shotgun Marriage), From the Heart, Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu, Princess Hiro

What is a series of the week? More Info Here
Since there are now a substantial number of torrents on this site, we have implemented a "Series of the Week," where we could dedicate most of the bandwidth to a particular series during that week. This helps in a couple of ways:

1. People will know what series are available and have seeds, rather than just waiting and hoping for them to be seeded at some later date.

2. For those seeders who have DVD burners and have already burnt their collections to DVD/CD, then with the series of the week they know which series can be pulled off of DVD to help seed, minimizing troublesome multiple DVD loading.

3. Constantly re-circulates older torrents back into view, and focuses bandwidth and demand toward those specific torrents, rather than having people request series across the board.

Remember, D-Addicts was started for the community, and being a part of the community means sharing. If you don't share, then everyone loses (refer to JEM's dropping of Cdramas), and a good thing open to all may become a private party.

We take no responsibility for deleting poll entries if there are no seeds. No complaints, as this is a community effort. If the community doesn't want to share, then oh well...

Reminder: You must have at least 10 posts to vote. Go on, kiddies... explore the forum a bit... :)

I'm voting for Konya Hitori, but in future, I'd like to see some real junk food--you know, the twinkies of jdorama?? Something seriously mediocre but curiously addicting, like To Heart, You're Under Arrest, Married at 20. You know the stuff you realize is not great literature, but you watch it anyway when you're avoiding real work? At least one of those this summer? (I'd nominate Waterboys again cause it's definitely a summer show, but it's been done in the past?)

I am obligated to vote for Joou no Kyoushitsu regardless of whatever other great series are nominated. I just like it too much.

More people need to know about this one and see kryptolus' great work on it!

And Konya it is for me.
(Ai no Uta started with a nice first episode: great sarcastic humor and an untypical female lead. But it was all downhill from there. Fast. It was so excruciatingly corny, even by Jdorama standards, that I couldn't finish it - and that was on holiday at my parents', with nothing to do and nothing else to watch... I probably wouldn't have gone past ep 3 or 4 if I'd been at home. The male lead's idiotic smile still haunts me at night...)
Everything passed away in an instant, with nothing left behind except the scars of things I injured and despised.

I know this is no justifiication but we should vote for something other than "The Queen's Classroom" since that batch torrent already has 6 seeders at the moment while Double Kitchen has basically none. Sorry, if I'm bias but Double Kitchen is the only one I haven't seen.

Double kitchen doesn't have a lot to do with eating, unless you consider eating crow and swallowing pride to be applicable. :D

It has more to do with two households (and thus two kitchens) under the same roof.
jdorama.com wrote:Double Kitchen is a heartwarming situation comedy about a newlywed couple sharing a house with the husband's parents in a suburb of Tokyo. Ordinary situations become hilarious cross-generational battlegrounds, as the wife and her mother-in-law pursue vastly different images of the ideal family.
I can't admit, however, to how good the show is while it is on the same poll with Joou no Kyoushitsu. :whistling:

I had to vote for jyou no kyoushitsu. I watched part of the series while I was in Japan last year on exchange. And for the interesting side note- It holds a place in my heart because for my school's cultural festival my entire class learnt the ending theme dance and performed it in front of around 2000 people lol.

Reasons to watch Joou no Kyoushitsu:

1. Amami Yuki!
2. Amami Yuki's masterful performance portraying a demonic teacher with a mysterious background.
3. Shida Mirai and a classroom of kids that can act!
4. Yukawa Kazuhiko, the same screenwriter that brought us Great Teacher Onizuka, Koi ga Shitai, Oyaji (just to name a few).
5. To see why a show that started with a rating of 14.4% ended up with a final episode rating of 25.3%.
6. Thought-provoking social commentary.
7. The ending credits!

Good point there SnWa..

i one to add one more:
All the drama that involved on student and teacher such as GTO, Gokusen, nobuta wo produce or even Gachi baka are base on high school student( age between 15-17) but
Joou no Kyoushitsu are base on student that are only 12 years old :lol :lol
so try to watch this drama and see how there face the demonic teacher with a mysterious background. 8) 8)

I can help seed Double Kitchen. And I'm with 20centuryboy, I would love to see "29sai no kurisumasu" subbed and any other Tomoko shows.

Takashima Masanobu who plays her husband in this one was pretty good too.

The poll is almost over and I'm just checking it now for the first time, boy I'm really slacking here. :lol

Even if this drama doesn't win for this week, i'll definitively watch it !

Great voter turnout for this poll! Goes to show how good the choices were this time.

Hopefully, this means Joou no Kyoushitsu has another chance to gain recognition. :D

Apologies for the late announcement, but the winner is Double Kitchen! :-) Volunteer seeders may start seeding now. And if anyone would like to contribute a 150 x 150 banner to be used on the Torrent index page, please do... :notworthy:

Look out for the next poll!

no pictures on the torrent page? Could one of the Geinou just put an image with the word Double kitchen or something, I hate seeing that broken image on the torrent page.

Thanks mizune. I changed the torrent page this morning, but don't have access to image editor, thus the broken image. Sorry!
