LOL! :lol I'm so glad someone understands! I felt like a *moron* after realizing that all BT initially required was clicking a link! T_T I think I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to fiddle with things... installing, un-installing, installing... *scratches head*

hehe, I admit that now, but a few months' ago - shortly after I learned how to use BT - I was still in vehement denial that I could do such a stupid thing................... :whistling:

I'm a guy. After seeing My Sassy Girl and Summer Scent, I just had to find more sources for foreign movies and drama. I found the link for this site from AZNV.net. How many girls would actually sit down at a computer and search for a website that allows one to download these movies and dramas?

On another note, the only reason I learned about BT was through downloading anime. And it's pretty obvious to me that most anime are intended for a male audience. For example, DBZ, Love Hina, Gundam are three anime from different genre that were probably made for guys.

That's my 2 cent for my first pointless forum post,

I would like to disagree on your comment that girls do not watch anime. That's what shoujo anime are for! Although there are some 'guy animes' there are an equal number of 'girl animes'... Off the top of my head, I've watched Cardcaptor Sakura, X/1999, Scrapped Princess, Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto (disputably a guy anime, but I love it). To be quite honest, from what I've seen, most animes tend to be aimed at a wide audience, often overlapping girl's and guy's tastes.

Plus, I always thought girls were supposedly to be more into "soaps" than guys. :P As pointed out by our poll that this is not the case, I still think your comment, "how many girls would actually sit down at a computer and search for a website that allows one to download.." is invalid. Although it seems that guys are in the majority on d-addicts, girls definitely do hold a significant percentage, don't you think? By doubting that girls would visit websites to search for dramas... I find that slightly offensive because isn't that an implication that we're computer illiterate? I didn't know much skill was required to browse through websites and search for things.....

Hrmm.... my friends always say I'm overly sensitive when it comes to sexist issues.....

Sorry, I didn't want you to take it the wrong way. I wasn't trying to say that girls are computer illiterate. In my personal experience, most of my girl friends think it's boring to sit at the computer searching for movies to download. However, they don't seem to mind when I burn the movies for them .

Anyways, you're probably right on the anime issue. I just usually don't watch shoujou anime :D , so that thought slipped my mind when I first replied to this post. My girl friend, who introduced me to anime, would probably give me a good beating if she read that line :-( . She also taught me how to use irc, find fansubs group, and for a good 3 years, was my main source of anime. I'd would still be dependent on her if it weren't for BT.

So please don't be offended; I have no reason to pull a sexist comment when I'm spending most of my cable's bandwidth downloading, for example, Hotman :P .

BTW - I got hooked on anime because of Kenshin

Mmm... isn't it amazing? That was the first anime that got me totally hooked too! I especially loved the Kyoto arc series . . . I thought that was absolutely ... :w00t: Simply no other way to describe it. ^_^ To this day, it remains one of my favorite anime series. I found that the historical content only added to the series... not to mention Kenshin AND Aoshi.

Seisouhen was a big disappointment!!! I've never seen the Kenshn TV series. I started with the OVA and was really impressed by the depth and bleakness of the whole thing

that makes me sound like a goth doesn't it? :P

btw I'm a guy from the UK, I'm 21 (and not a goth!)

I hardly think appreciating the darker side in things is considered goth. ^__^ I really enjoyed the TV series, although it is very different from the OVAs. The TV series in general, is much more light-hearted... especially in the beginning episodes. It gets really awesome around the late 40s to 60s? I forget... it's been a little while. =P

Guy here.. Wow this topic is hella long :x took me a while to skim thru all the posts

Hmm normally i would assume there is more females into dramas then males, a lot more in fact, but this is the internet(ex. torrent) and requires a little more work.

Only reason this site isnt 100:1 male to female, like irc, is because its drama lol :P

my excuse for liking drama is my mom/sister, they watch those kdrama soaps with a sad story which brings anyone into tears. Gets u hooked

I like movies in general anyway so whats a little wrong with drama soaps

im not really surprised that an online drama place would have so many guys. i mean most guys, atleast the guys that i know, wouldnt be too enthusiastic about everyone knowing that they like dramas so they would go to a place where they can do it privately. either way its all good.

I am a girl... And i seem to be the only girl here who isnt technologically oriented:( I am definetly not good with computers... It took me almost 1 month to figure out this whole BT thing.... espcially since I have a mac and playing avis with subs is complicated (to me anyway).... I think I had to cycle through, 15 payers before I found one that would do the job,,,

I have an interest in asian things because I sort of acquired an asian family recently, but I am from Canada.

But what I really want to know is WHERE all of you are from??

Well maybe it depends on the angle but some people said my eyes are scary, but right now when it really hurts I wish I had smaller. But still have to work on that tracker, sigh. The pic was taken with a webcam by my sis, but I will tell her she is great. ^^

Post by Attila » Apr 18th, '04, 18:05

Well, obviously I'm more than 100% guy.... :D anyway, it's a simple nature that guy has dick and girl has.....well, you figure it out, then, okay?

Anyway, I also find out that technology is no longer a male privilege, and I'm so glad about that by getting along with the presence so well in this very century, hmm, at least we can have new fresh competitors..... :P

I'm a guy.

The poll results are interesting but they're not revealing. I get the feeling that the majority of the people who are downloading are girls, more specifically, girls who post regularly at female dominated sites like soompi.com. So it's like they come here, they download, they go there, they post, but they don't post as much over here.

That's my grand theory. :lol

well here's another guy into dramas... but my sis and my friends consider me a wannabe japanese school girl trapped in a white skinhead looking boy's body so it might not count. that should bring some fun pictures to mind o.O

I'm a guy, but I don't really like watching lots of sappy dramas. For instance, I cannot stand any korean dramas. My mother rents them by the truckload, and they all center around love triangles with Korea's national disease (cancer) infecting the female lead. Plus, Koreans all love to smack each other around and cry every 5 minutes. I remember seeing some of Beautiful Days (Chinese girls forced me to) and the girl as well as the guys in that drama cry so much!!!!
I prefer the comedies of jdramas.

Maybe guys are on D-Addicts more often because they don't want people to know they watch asian dramas and so don't bother renting and watching with friends. Or maybe, we are all cheapskates who don't want to buy the videos. Or maybe, guys are more in tuned with internet sites and tech.

Whatever, as long as the dramas keep coming in, I'll be happy.

ha! all of the above + we have females in the household who figured out that we can dl this stuff, and now are demanding that we bring in more of it.

I'm a female and I Iove watching anime until I came across Summer Scents. Now, I'm totally hooked on dramas as long as it's not to cheesy. :P

Haha, I'm the same way as Pegasus..now I think doramas are more interesting than anime.

Anyway, I'm a 18 year old girl from southern California, and I mostly agree with the guys using BT more than girls, but man! I didn't attribute the girl-icons to guys, I always thought that more girls would like the sappy cutey-love stuff. ^_^ No offense, yo!

but i m juz an ordinary 23 year old girl who juz happened to find this great file sharing called bittorrent and at the same time, introduced to great k-dramas by a new tv channel, and have been addicted ever since. :D

I'm an 18 year old CA girl. Totally not a comp geek though. Although I find myself very attached to my computer these days. In fact, I used to hate computers and I wouldn't even touch computers for the longest time until my cousin built me one. Most of my friends don't watch dramas and since I'm such a d-addict, I searched the internet about them and somehow got here. :D

I'm kind of surprised that there's more guys than girls as well. My brother likes action stuff, my ex liked horror movies...both avoid romance stuff like the plague :lol
