Am I the only one using Mandrake Linux and Mplayer while reading slashdot?

The world is up side down, more guys at a drama site than girls, still can't believe it. And well girls who are interested in computer don't call themselves geeks and you can't really tell on just the look if a girl knows computer or not, but guy computer geeks you can tell directlyRuroshin wrote:Its mostly guys because guys tend to be more technically orientated and you need some technical knowledge to download torrented files. I used to have a very funny one but I can't seem to find anymorexiaryx wrote:I think most visitors to d-addicts are guys. For some reason I think girls would just rent videos haha..
P.S. I am a guy...
P.P.S. @Takez0, I know some female friends who would love to have that animation as their avatar heh.
Tell your friends to go ahead and use it, I didn't make that. I grabbed somewhere on the web. Just don't use it here or on Jdorama.com
Come on, I don't think there's any female named Takezo
If you ran a chromosome test on me, I'd would appear to be a member of the male gender. However, I appear to have just as many female qualities as I have male qualities... On JDorama.com, my bedroom photos served as evidence of that LOL! In addition:
- I love pastels.
- I love Hello Kitty.
- I like the romance/love themes in Japanese dramas, anime and manga.
- I can troubleshoot many of my girl-gendered friends' relationships by talking to their boyfriends about what they're overlooking or doing wrong.
- I don't want to see girls like Marissa Tomei or Sakai Noriko in the nude.
To support my true male gender:
- I own every Yoshioka Miho and Suzuki Fumika photobook and DVD made.
- I can close my eyes, have someone play a porno video, and I can truthfully say, "That's not Sakura Sakurai... That's Sally Yoshino."
- My PC hasn't had its metal cover on in over 5 years.
- Every one of my Japanese anime garage kits I've painted focuses on fan service.
Whew! I had myself worried there for a second.

i'm a male who has 3X's as many girl friends as i do guy friends. and the only reason the ratio is so close is cuz guys i know only want to hook-up with the girls i know. hahaha and the main reason for my addiction to korean/japanese "cultures" is cuz of the ex's. at least i got something out of it.

hahahaha some of my guy friends have argued over which is better (windows/linux) for HOURS at a time. Is this a common argument amongst guys who are comp nerds? =P They also like switching the keys around on the keyboard... once they did it to a guy and it said, "hi f*** me now" across the top row...............soyabean123 wrote: yeah most of the girls don't know about bittorrent & computers i agree... i'm sure they can be as good as us (the guys!!) if they just turn themselves into comp nerds ^___^ let's all talk about linux! mwhwahahaha j/k

wow two girls who replied.. ^^;; well i guess you're taking over this place!! doh! lol haha... nah really there;s nothing wrong with girls in engineering or whatever... its just less common... my 5 girl ___________friends (notice the space between!! ) are all in engineering hihi ^_____^ and they're all asian *bigger* HIHI ^_^

It's definitely much less common among girls to go into engineering or merely be interested in the math/sciences. The high school that I go to has a magnet program called Science & Engineering. For all other years besides ours (where we have roughly 2:3 ratio of girls: boys), the ratio is umm.. around 1:5 >_< Yeapppp, so trust me when I say that I know what you mean when you say guys tend to be the more technical of the two genders.
The new SAT is also supposed to benefit girls over guys because they said that girls tend to be better in verbal and writing whereas the guys' strongpoint is generally math... My reaction was along the lines of "NO WAY!!!!" heh, I got pretty mad at the article... despite realizing, of course, that they were speaking the truth...

I'm actually surprised there are so many guys who watch J-dramas. I think in Japan the majority of people who watch J-dramas are female (which is why there's the Kimura-effect). Barring the taiga dramas, most of the stories are romantic comedies which guys don't usually watch.
Still, I guess one can't discount the idol effect.

well, the fact is, there are a LOT of sappy guys. i am one of them. i'm not afraid to admit it. my gf makes fun of me all the time. a romantic comedy/drama isnt something i'm gonna write off just because i need to preserve masculinity. i love drama!!! some of the chicks are really hot too! always a plus.
I don't know if My Sassy Girl is just universally loved as a film in general, but I know my guy friends love it to death! They've all watched it nearly 5 times over, and even I thought the movie's 2nd half became mediocre (aka started fast forwarding) after watching it 2 times. Of course, a big plus for them is Jeon Ji-hyun.............

my sassy girl is a chick flick, but at the same time, its a guy's movie. most guys are afraid to say that they are whipped, but they love to make fun of the guy who is whipped. well, if you've seen this movie, you know that the main character is major whipped. we love to see him get messed up over and over. a bit like the anime love hina, where narusegawa continuously beats down on keitaro.
*naru punch*

yea.. My Sassy Girl started the whole "korean untraditional bad girl" stereotype (or breaking the traditional asian female stereotype), which is later followed by other movie such as My Tutor Friend. But I think the main reason was the great acting from the actors, in addition to the perfect blending between comedy and tragic romance.
And yea, my friends always give me this questionable look when I suggest a drama movie. And like geoffropuff said, some of the girls are HOT

I'm a dude, and I'm not ashamed to say that I'm whipped (both on asian dramas and my beautiful asian lady)
Funny thing is, I love the dramas and romances and she just falls asleep unless they're in Mandarin. Me, I don't mind reading my movies, but I hate dubs. Can't get into a show when you know it's not the real actors talking...

DITTO~ I saw clips of Hotelier that I downloaded in Chinese and it was just sooo weird to see Bae Yong Jun speaking in Mandarin... The words just sounded so WEIRD coming from his mouth because the dubbed actor wasn't particularly smooth in his line delivery. Well, I think it was more the tone that toally threw me off.aNToK wrote:Me, I don't mind reading my movies, but I hate dubs. Can't get into a show when you know it's not the real actors talking...
It's the same thing with anime... I flipped on the tv and cartoon network was showing Rurouni Kenshin the other day... the dubbed voices are horrendous! I wanted to cry and cry, because I normally love Kenshin to death, but all of the characters just sounded so... weird. If any of you have seen it, you'll know what I mean.. Sanosuke sounds like a surfer-dude from California. >_<
Whoops, kinda went off on a tangent... Whenever I see dubbed Kenshin, it makes me so mad. >=[ Subs any day.. although I sure wish I was korean/japanese so I could understand these things directly! But eh, not happening anytime soon.. so subs are my savior!
me a guy... i was in bangkok the other day and saw Wish upon a start and Attic Cat on TV which was dubbed in Thai. They seem to have plenty of Korean series on TV, all dubbed of course.
Funny listening to Kim Rae Won in Thai and also hearing the polite forms of Ka and Khrap after every sentence Also a lot of the sounds and music seems to have been stripped out, to make the dubbing easier I guess

It's true that women are making their way into the fields of engineering and the sciences. Hopefully, that ratio will be 50:50 soon. I find it amusing though that everybody on d-addicts who has stated their major/interests are all into engineering or the sciences . . . I don't see too many liberal arts/history/english majors around here................... O_o I wonder why that is.....
for some weird reason those ppl are not into computer stuff? in our university students who major in those subjects are considered a bit "weird" from us engineering studentsI don't see too many liberal arts/history/english majors around here
ehh.... i wouldnt say that BT is all that technical, no need to be a computer geek to understand BT i believe?
maybe the reason is that girls have so much else to do than sitting home downloading dramas?

I was a double major in Business Management and Philosophy - so yes I guess I'm one of the few LIberal Arts students here.... Most of the people in Philosophy were double majors in Physics and Computer Science...Actually, engineering and computer science at the uni I went to had a lot of female students almost half...But in Philolsophy, it was like a huge difference. Most of my classes especially the senior ones I was like one of two or three girls in a class of 25 and probably only 15 girls in a class of 100.
I worked as computer trainer for a college - so I know a few things about computers. But mostly I just gave bad advice...lol....
Oh, and I'm a girl...

ahh, so we see some liberal arts majors emerging from the folds.....
I don't consider BT technical . . . I think it just takes some getting used to. I remember when I first started using BT . . . I tried looking for the program interface (the original client) everywhere! I couldn't figure out *where* i installed the darn thing. -stupid me-

^ Agreed. That is just an entrepeneur enterprise idea waiting to be cashed in on.
But imagine the licensing fees and deals with Asian companies. Ah, very stressful and it's kind of difficult to just "open" a TV channel. A program is hard enough as is to survive its first month of airing.. 9/10 shows are cancelled and the lucky one show survives season 1.

it's not BT it's computer in early years that was to technical for girls and use as toys for boys so most computer user are boys.
Those that are in engineerin and are girls are those who have little stonger interest in computer than average girl I guess. That's why we're here. Also BT is not known by the common public, like newspapers of TV, you learn about BT in forums and chatrooms and as I mentioned before those that hang around there are mostly boys so...
