I thought the same thing but then I remembered that it was filmed/produced in 2005. So I don't know if people go by the release year or the production year.
Typically its release year. When this does get released it will be classified in most database as 2006. Some productions can take over a year to produce so the release years is always used, same goes in the movie industry.

Those DVD's sure sound hella tempting... even if I do understand only 1/8 of it. Since it's going to be released in China first, of course, YesAsia should carry it around the same time, yeah? Or do you guys know of other sources that someone like me from the US can tap into? Thanks!

Not sure...most likely more than $100. They used a lot of money for this series.

I hope they included the deleted scenes. Originally, the series was 52 episodes long but they cut it down to 44. I want to see everything!

Just a question on the DVD's.

you know how lately some movies have DVD's released about a week after the cinema release by the offical company to combat piracy or what not. After a while they release a much better quality and extras-filled DVD.

Will there be a second version of those DVD released with better quality or extras?

Remember what they did to the Lord of the Rings DVD's? :glare:

Which one is good looking? If you mean the one from the childhood...the daughter of that Mongolian Khan than I didnt like her too much because she is so clingy and her voice gets on my nerves...maybe if I see her later in the story I will like her more.

LoL...I feel you.

What do you think of Sun Fei Fei...she's new to the scene as well...just like LYF and Yang Mi...Mainland are picking up good looking girls now. This is another Jin Yong's production. It's not out yet. Same director/producer of ROCH.

I saw you posting the pics in the other thread. She looks good but I have to see her in action to judge but the first pic reminds me of someone...what series is that from? When ROCH starts we will have more of this kinds of conversations :-)

I saw you posting the pics in the other thread. She looks good but I have to see her in action to judge but the first pic reminds me of someone...what series is that from? When ROCH starts we will have more of this kinds of conversations :-)

LoL...I feel you.

What do you think of Sun Fei Fei...she's new to the scene as well...just like LYF and Yang Mi...Mainland are picking up good looking girls now. This is another Jin Yong's production. It's not out yet. Same director/producer of ROCH.
She's quite pretty :)

Well, considering that there there is a pool of at least 60 MILLION girls of that age range to choose from, I'd be surprised that if they didn't pick good looking girls. Only time when they don't is when an actress has too much power and doesn't want anyone to outshine here :lol

The imgs look interesting, which series is it?

I think I'll also pick up the version which comes out first ... then wait for the series to finish and pick up a nice version ...

As for Zhou Xun, I've always felt that she has the acting skills to portray Huang Rong. But her voice is just AWFUL :( Which is why I'm glad, even tho it's just a promo gimmick, that they are picking a person for XLN's background track. LYF doesn't need to be dubbed tho, I think her speaking voice will fit XLN just fine

The thing is...they have no choice to dubbed her voice...in fact...every single one of them had their voice dubbed...or else you'll hear background noises. I think the only person who dubbed his own voice is Huang Xiao Ming.

LYF couldn't do her own voice. Her schedule is pretty tight right now.

recording in the morning.
learning japanese afternoon.
dancing class at night.

she's preparing for her new album.

Does she have to sing :roll ...and they all have to learn Japanese to sell CDs in the second largest music market in the world...they should just work on their real skills like acting.

Yeah, I want her to focus on acting instead. But i know what she's thinking..."I'm young. I want to try different things. I could get any role I want from acting." and she can...LoL

but i do want to see more of her than having to listen to her...

hehe... yeah, I guess with most Asian dramas in general, one great thing is that our actors CAN pull off roles of varying ages. A good recent example was 1 litre of tears, Sawajiri Erika played the role of Aya from 15 thru 25. Another upcoming one is if I'm not mistaken, My Girl and I (KDrama). Song Hye-kyo plays a high school role when she's right around 24-25 yrs old. Arghh!! Talking about this and seeing that clip for this series is making me antsy for it. just a couple more weeks till the release date, yeah? The maybe a month or two for subs...

Well, There are a few things in HK. first, the pool in HK is significantly smaller. Pop. of 7 million yields a pool of ~350k for talent. And if you break it into 1 yr segment, then the pool is ~50k. If you notice now, a lot of the miss TVB contestants now have mainland background.

But the main problem is that HK / cantonese market is relatively small. If you make a new drama with new people all the time, where will the previous people go? TVB actors are not really that well paid because TVB doesn't have that much budget, so the actors need to work fairly consistently to make a living. Tho this is why you notice everyone learning mandarin so that they can make mainland drama during their TVB off-time. Tho, the mainland market is so large that they are sucking away all the talent. You notice that a lot of the dramas now are headlining a lot of second string actors and not quite as "stellar" as they were in the past.

If you keep using new people, you also end up with raw performances of people who just stepped out of the TVB training school. And with Meteor Garden, you can see while it is novel, it can be quickly tiring if all dramas had that level of acting :lol

The only thing is I grew up watching TVB so no matter how much it lacks when compared to mainland productions, I'll still watch it.

But I am noticing the great actresses mainland are picking up. LYF is still the cutest out of all the actresses I've seen though.

I still think that TVB still has some of the best writing and dialog. They just don't have the budget.

They might be the only broadcast company that still has a training program. it keeps them competitive because it's hard to find talent that has training. Whereas mainland scouts just need to visit drama schools
