Looking from the AnimeNFO list

Rurouni Kenshin - Reminiscence
Good OVA - there are 3 altogether and a series (series isn't the same as the movies it's more family like, the movies are more serious) the series is also huge I think like 100+ eps (I only saw about 15 of them

Elfen Lied
I liked this series quite a bit it's quite bloody and there is nakedness in it so be warned but it is really good.

Rahxephon
Reminds me of NGE, mecha anime, loads of action and also like NGE quite weird with the plot lines if you don't feel like watching the series then there is a movie which is basically the tv series compressed into a movie.

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Classic anime, the first anime I ever downloaded on 56k! ^_^; quite confusing but very very good anime, 2 movies as well I think it was originally 24 eps but people didn't like the lack of answers so 2 more were added or something similar so don't expect a fun loving comedy anime

Last EXILE
I watched all this series in 1 weekend, it's another good anime with a good story.. about 2 kids and their plane and a big war between different countries and how they get caught up in it (a bit of CGI in it I believe but it's done well and looks good)

Shingetsutan Tsukihime
A boy who was involved in an accident as a child in which he almost died can now see lines everywhere when the lines are cut things break easily (or die) then there is a vampire and loads of other things :P

Furi Kuri
Crazy anime! 6 episode OVA a must see one of my favourites really reaaally good (must see) I think it's also quite popular among people who don't really watch anime because it's so nuts.

BECK
Good anime that came out this year. About some boys who form a band and their story in trying to make it. I think it's really good, I read the manga which has been going for 4 years (I think) and the characters age in real time which is quite cool the anime stops before they go to america and it doesn't look like there will be a second series because it wasn't that popular in japan (probably because 2 of the characters lived in america for a long time so there is english speaking in it) so if you like it continue with the manga. the anime has songs and soundtracks (which I have because it's pretty good :P)

Bleach
Action anime that is on episode 59 right now, really good (I also read the manga) thankfully although it's long there hasn't been many filler episode yet and flashbacks are short so it's still easy to watch - I think this is one of the most popular animes out right now (I gets more seeds then american shows like Lost)

Mai HiME
Absolutely loved this tv series which came out earlier this year, it got quite popular too (it gets better as the episode go on and it was originally 24 eps but 2 more were added I think.. also because it was well received there is a new series based on it called Mai Otome which is on episode 8 right now (it has the same characters but it's like an alternative reality) .. also if you read manga then you should know the manga is different from the series.

I think I'll stop here now tis a bit long :P

Samurai Champloo is very recommended. You gotta <3 Samurais that incoporate breakdancing into their fighting style (or is it capoeira?).
I love Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou, it's girly, but it was true to the manga, and I enjoyed it as much as the books.

Here is a list of other animes I thought was a good watch:
Naruto (ongoing)
Hunter X Hunter
Full Metal Panic! (all seasons were great, but should watch it in order)
Oruchuban Ebichu
Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu
Excel Saga
Scrapped Princess
Speed Grapher
Peace Maker Kurogane
Noir

Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu is one of the funniest animes I've ever watched. I know a d-addicts member has Guu in his/her avatar.

Also, I recommend:
Akazukin Chacha and Azumanga Daioh for comedy.

For a great story line and some romance (for us d-addicts) I recommend:

His & Her Circumstances
(Although I was never able to finish the series)
Honey & Clover (Very unique theme, with a great soundtrack)
Paradise Kiss (Sexy characters... it sort of reminds me of Beck but it surrounds the fashion industry. It was probably produced by the same company... someone may be able to correct me on this).

Last but not least, School Rumble is one of my most favorite and the funniest anime.

The torrents can be found at http://animesuki.com. For Detective Conan, here's the torrent link --> http://anime-conan.net/phpbt/.
I will definitely checkout Hunter X Hunter. You got any non-torrent download links? My college firewall disable torrent downloads.
I would guess the answer to the non-torrent download links is NO. Unless someone sent you a link by yousendit or by clubbox, the answer is NO.
60610 wrote:So why don't this site has anime? This site has mostly TV shows. What about the movies?
Read appropriate thread --> here, here (look under Q5), and here
Oh, btw, here's a link that would suit you most -->here . This way, if you had a question and wanted a quick answer to them, this is the best way to find out if it's already been asked. If not, then ask the question to the appropriate thread, n00b. :-)
don't be such a meanie yt_toshi :roll

Anyway for anime recommendation :
- Azumanga Daioh -> comedy
- Hajime No Ippo -> sports
- Neon Genesis Evangelion -> dark symbolic
- One Piece -> action adventure
- Touch -> romance/sports
- Yakitate! Japan -> fooding

Fruits Basket

There are so many good series out there but...
I have only one suggestion:
Initial-D
Except for the latest season, the art-quality of the first three seasons may not be that of todays standards, but a lot of my friends that didn't think much of anime (or cartoons as they referred it to) got so excited with it and even some got to like anime a little bit (more)

So far, I already have Bleach and Naruto. Know any others?
You probably have soo many suggestions by now but i just wanna put my 2cents in O_o the best way to find good anime or new ones is to just go to goggle and search anime and usually lots pop up. You have to try out a lot to find the ones that you really like. I hope i helped a lil ^_^

If it hasn't been mentioned yet.....I recommend Yakitate Japan. Its hirlarious :lol
Do check it out. ITs currently up to Ep 47.

Fruits Basket is great.
Read the Manga as well, you'll find out who the rooster is, as well as the horse and more about the Sohma family secret. Its up to vol. 12 now i think. The anime goes up to i believe vol. 8 or 9...

Some of the on-going series that I recommend is Suzuka and Shuffle. I like the story development in those.

Due to all the recommendations, I finally started on Yakitate Japan! :lol It's hilarious...I like Kazuma, he reminds me of Luffy from One Piece...they're both baka.
Now I know where Sana's old avatar with the afro guy dancing on stage was from...
and Im still looking out for the episode where the bread was baked in a rice cooker...I think I saw someone actually posted a pic of their own rice cooker bread here in D-A and said the recipe was from Yakitate.

I HIGHLY recommend Tenshi na Konamaiki.
The art is not that great, but it gets better as the series continues. And the comedy more than makes up for it.

*Meguuu...

It's about a boy who turns into this really beautiful girl and how she's trying to get back into her original identity with a bunch of guys following her around... I know it sounds weird... but it's HILARIOUS. It's one of my favorites.

I watched the first few episodes of Yakitate Japan... and everytime I did I would always get hungry! I would always want to go to a bakery right after... especially during the ending credits. So I just stopped watching it... :goggle:

I didnt think Love Hina was that funny..it was..bleh...it wasnt my type of humor. That's why Im keeping my distance from Chobits too...to girlish for my taste.
But I agree, Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu!! and Slam Dunk are very very funny...and Full Metal Alchemist is very interesting to watch, although the ending had left me hanging.

I don't know if someone already recommended this, but I recommend Hana Yori Dango, the graphics aren't that great, but it has a really good story line I think. But I guess it also depends on what type of anime you like, and if you watch Hana Yori Dango, you should watch the drama, too.

do what i did. go here:top 200 and watch them from number 1 to 200. i almost got all of them downloaded and seen most of the top ones.

except dont watch the top 1 until u have seen the rest of Rurouni Kenshin. that would ruin an awesome series.

I wouldn't recommend naruto or bleach right now....... the fillers are getting annoying.... If your interested in the getbacker or something similar...... I suggest you download a new series fansub like "Air Gear"....... If your a newbie torrent is the best place DL...... go to www.tokyotosho.com for anime torrents for new series www.boxtorrents.com for old files.

I recommend Prince of Tennis (I heard the name and wasn't really interested at first, but after spending a decent amount of time watching it, I got addicted!), Yakitate!! Japan (awesome anime about bread-making and it's highly entertaining with the random humour). You must watch Death Note, it's a stark contrast with many of the "light" anime, as it's very dark, deep, and complex. I reckon it's pretty mind-boggling and the plot line just presents itself with so many twists. Just google the anime and read the brief summaries, I can't be bothered recounting, sorry, haha.

I also recommend you watch Ouran High School Host Club, it's a very unique anime with characters you'll fall in love with (well most of them =]). Again, google it for the plot, you won't be disappointed.
Full Metal Alchemist, I believe is a must watch! I had the anime for a year but never touched it, then I was bored one day and started it. It was amazing and beautifully crafted, I didn't find it draggy at all.

Hmm... trying to think of more anime... ooh, Mai Hime, you should get to watching as well. I can't remember the plot well so you might as well google it (I apologise) but it was definitely a very intriguing anime which I watched until the end. Highly recommended.

Lastly, I recommend Gundam Seed, that was truly a great anime for me and left me with a great feeling at times. It really displays the mental/emotional effects of war quite masterfully and also goes into depth with human interaction rather realistically. The idea of spaceship things and mechanical robots didn't interest me at first, but the action and the relationships between each character really brought out the better side of the anime.

I hope you found my recommendations helpful to you. Please enjoy the anime if you download them!

Recommended Animes?

Post by SoVerySleepie » Jul 21st, '07, 04:45

Hey I was wondering if you all could recommend some good anime to me. I'm looking for something set in high school and features maybe a mixture of comedy and romance.

Animes that I have watched and enjoyed are Naruto, Prince of Tennis, and Ouran High School Host Club. Anything slightly like Ouran would be ideal. I guess what I'm also looking for is an anime that has male characters I will fall in love with, lol.

Thanks!

Fruits Basket is a must if you like Ouran :D.
Hmm. Also Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Tsubasa.

Those are a definite must if you like Romance/Comedy.

But some anyme I really enjoyed - even if it wasn't intesne fluffy shoujo magic were:

BLOOD+
[I swear, it's freaking awesome one you get through about 15 episodes. And don't skip, you might miss some important information :lol.]

and.

DEATH NOTEE!!
[Crazy intense. And a trippy storyline.]
Enjoy, kay :lol.

Here's a list of anime I recommend (i'm currently watching all of them)

Death note - very popular mystery anime

Code Geass: Lelouch of rebellion - very addictive mecha anime, very similar to death note. I like calling it Death Note + Gundam Seed (=Code Geass)

Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto - a nice historical anime with nice fighting scenes and the longest name in anime history :O

Maison Ikkoku
This is probably the grandmother of all romantic-comedy / slice-of-life animes.
Great re-watchability and execellent use of BGM.

I haven't seen any comment on Byousoku 5 Centimeter here. I really recommend it (if you're not sick of Shinkai Makoto's works already :) ), this really is a masterpiece. Byousoku 5 Centimeter isn't only about its storyline (which isn't bad) but it's about ART. Every scene of this movie could make a great picture on the wall! And soundtrack is amazingly combined with the video and story either. Just watch it and see what I'm talking about!! ;)

PS: Just find a good quality video, otherwise you'd regret it. Believe me.

Bokura ga Ita. I loved it. It's one of the cutest and most wonderful anime's I had seen in a long time. Came out at the end of last year I think on tv, I don't think it's on dvd yet. I also loved Nana, it was worth it to get through all 47 episodes. I also loved Paradise Kiss and Lovely Complex, and I am enjoying Romeo + Juliet this season, though i think it could be better. I think I might have posted some of these before but I thought I would again anyway.
