He already replied here that he stopped and wont pursue his dream girl and that he wont be on the board anymore because he'll concentrate more about his college academics:

I see...
thanks for the info, Jeremiah.. you rawkz, bro.
ladym: you mean.. you still live with your parents? Wow, we are kinda all similar...
Although i'm going to be 23 soon (this november), I'm also living with my parents.
I got 2 reasons....
1. I love my parents :P :P (what a good child I am :D :D )
2. I am not working at this moment, so I can't pay all the bills :P (I'm still a final year uni student)
Which reasons sounds true?
:lol

Jeremiah: If I'm not mistaken, I've kinda read somewhere that girls are more attracted to mature guys (probably the ones who has already settled down). So, don't worry bro, you shall get one soon!!
For me, I'm not looking for one. Furthermore, I never feel extremely attached to any girl (probably because I haven't met a girl which is kinda compatible enough with me). Everything is cool though, so don't worry about that .. I'm just being here for fun and probably I shall try to share my tips and advice for others. Maybe it sounds a bit conservative (coz I'm kinda conservative guy) but I hope it's all wonderful.

i kept walking up and down, and when i came close to the exit, i went back and sat down.... but then i thought of you lot.... =] and some how pulled the courage.... and, pulled out a ciggerrete [bad habit] ... i then walked out the door and approched her.. my hands were shaking alot.. i then asked her for a light.. she said sure. and smiled.. it was the most beautifullest smile ive seen, it some how calmed me.. it was kind afunny coz i was stil trembling...after a lite my ciggerette and gave her bac, her frend walked up to her and i think she was gonna go home... she got her stuff and started walking.... i felt really bad because i didnt want to miss my chance..... she was approching the gate, and i came up to her.. i said "excuse me" and she turned around... i was still shaking, i stood there quiet for around 5 seconds, looking down on the ground.. i then looked up and said, "would it be alright if i asked ur name..?" she then smiled and said her name was "won" i think thats how you spell it.. i complimented her and said that it was a nice name.. and she smiled again... i then said my name, and asked her where she was from, she said "from south korea" and well after that i could controll my shakyness so i said i had to go back to my freinds in the cantine so ill speack to you soon, nice to meet you by the way. we both said bye and i walked back to the cantine with the biggest smile on my face, it look like this :D owh gosh.. thankyou everyone!!! seriously thank you!! i couldnt of done it without you lot..

wow, glad to hear that :D
Oh well, if ur nearing the end of your college life, it's kinda sucks... Anyway, use the time efficiently. If you want to go fast pace, do it "intensively". First, you must make sure that you have your back cleared ie. make sure that she doesn't have a boyfriend. then, try to talk about having fun together, and etc. At least you need to make a good impression that you can get along with her. Anyway, I guess you shouldn't look nervous nor make some immature impression in front of her.
From my judgement of the stuff you posted earlier, I guess you're kinda fine. However, you still need to watch your back. You would need to gather more information about this girl. All I'm afraid of is.. this dream girl of yours isn't the one you can probably be compatible with. If possible, befriend with her friends. They can be used as "spy" too. Sun Tzu even said that spies are vital for the outcome of a war. So, in this "war" of yours, you should plant some spy to observe other's movement (doesn't mean I encourage you to do something like stalking, but some information about hobbies, competitors, and her life isn't gonna be hurt).
So, do your best Mr Cloud.
Can't wait to read your reply though :D

But girls don't like my style, the way I thought of things and they said that I'm damn to serious, though at times I can be funny. It has absolutely nothing to do with your style(how you look), but rather who you are. Girls don't always care about what you look like. They don't want the guys looking better than them. Read some of the other posts and you will find that girls like guys who can make them laugh. It's all about your personality, and how you use it. You need to get your facts straightened out, or get some more experience, it may be hard at first, but rejection is the key to success. Anyways too many things to say, but that should be enough for you to start on or at least think about. Oh also look around you carefully in the real world, not in tv or magazines, you will see the so-called ugly guys are the ones with the girl and are happy. The ones who aren't are just simply misguided.
Thanks for your words shirocks!! You're quite right.. But I just sucks!! I was supposed to get married, but we broke up just because my personality sucks in a way that I'm damn to serious and plan my life before. At a relatively young age, I've already settled down, a bright career, my very own house, etc, but changing that way of thinking is not my style. All girls that I've know want me to live my life spontaneously, but if I did live spontaneously, I wouldn't have gone that far. May be because it's the way I've been grew up by my parents. Guess I'm too old fashioned to live in this world. Damn what am I babling about!! Anyway, my life just sucks that sometimes I wish I never taken birth!! I've done everything I could to grab happiness but it's a total failure though I've settled down.

Damn me... now I just live like an hermit

Jeremiah: oh well, ur already settled down, it's good.. Try to date some mature girls. Not the ones who are always giggling when seeing guys, but those who are already mature and able to show motherly personality. I'm sure this kind of woman will satisfy you well.
Well, I personally will deal on some matters in life seriously. I would never want my life to be ruined because of some simple mistakes. I would rather pursue my own ambition, dream, or career as high as I can.
Don't worry, bro!! you can do it!! Don't hate your life!! Life is much more precious than anything. As long as you still live, you can still have the chance. Maybe it would be better if you back down a bit sometimes...
I might sound like a nag, but I do really hate those who can't even respect their own. Whatever you have suffered, or endured during your lifetime will only empower you if you can take it into the right way. People learn from mistakes and they deal on the issues with their own ways. If you are just going to give up and admit that you are a loser, then you are no different from a loser. STEP UP AND DON'T BE A LOSER!!! YOU ARE NOT BORN AS A LOSER!!!
just my 2 cents.. sorry about being a bit off topics.

Seriously if there are any problems you guys/girls should seek professional advice not come to forums and ask a bunch of people in the same boat for comforting words. Thats my 2cents anyway. I've just turned 19 recently and I hope to know some of you better. peace!
Actually I believe you are off target about that one. Watching drama's can have a direct impact in your life. Sometimes they can make you take a step back from reality and take a closer look at your current situations and struggles. I think to just say to seek the aid of a professional could be right im some instances but this is more of a forum of support and sharing. This community has been great for helping people so far why jynx it.

Well, kinda... dodgy
My advice would be... treat those two as friends first... Then, try to pursue your dream girl. Just stay cool and don't even be bothered if someone think that you like her. Pretend that you never hear those things and behave normally. Use your intelligence network on your dream girl, and try to plan everything for your own benefit. If the dream girl can't be reached, you can still have two reserves.
You know, your case kinda sounds like tokimeki memorial :lol

i my opinion, i really think you should talk with both girls and have a more thoughtful conversation with the one who you are always comfortable to chat with. from my experience, the girl who you drams of and is very pretty might not be the one who suits you the best. it's just my opinion though.

I was actually a bit down yesterday. After reading all our fellow addicts' thought. I would start pursuiting my dream in a way. I always thought there is no meaning for my life; I actually still think that way right at the moment. It's just my life is always been tragic some. Everyday i wake up, i felt this inexplicable burden and pressure in my heart. sometimes i feel lonely and empty. is it because i don't talk to others that much or i just need to have a "friend" by my side? I think this is all i would say right now since time is speeding by and i got loads of stuff to do. but i will be looking forward to read all you guys' posts tomorrow :-) :-)

Today I remembered freshman year. When I graduated the eigth grade, it seemed like nothing to meet new people. It was like a breeze to talk to new people.
I actually knew five girls and talked to them a lot, until I backed away from them because of reasons.
I had a pocket notepad that I would put people's screen names, etc.
One day, I left it in the library accidentally. The next day I came back, there were very mean messages written in the book towards me. I felt angry and ashamed of myself.
It was all over my notebook and my identification card. I threw away the book and got frustrated.
I remember being called fat, even though I lost most of the weight, it was pretty bad.
Being picked on in Biology and Spanish I class and having paper balls thrown at me totally demoralized my confidence.

But now, I'm going to try to revert back then.
I will try not to let society look down upon me or try to not let it get to me.
My look has changed and I think they wouldn't really notice who I am.
I just need my confidence back. If anyone can talk to her, why can't I.

This thread taught me that there are many people like me.
It doesn't hurt to say hello or to be yourself.
Everyone is different and anything is possible if you believe.

Cloud: yay!!!!!!! Congratulations!! You've made the first step :D Reading that post made my face light up like when I was watching Densha :D *sighs* That was some nice intuition though :D I'm quite proud! Good luck for next time!

dspR: I'm sending the last of the music now. Did you get the other PMs? Have confidence in yourself right now! You are a good person! That certainly was a traumatizing event though! Especially at that tender age.

When I was in 7th grade, all my supposed friends deserted me and I spent the rest of 7th grade through to 8th grade with very few friends. I was also victimized at school every day. I was very quiet and shy and I liked to read a lot so it was very easy for people to make fun of me. But right after 8th grade I made a lot of good new friends who I am still friends with and we are very close. They helped to build my confidence and now I have no trouble talking to people, even strangers! But that is until recently. My roommate in college makes fun of me whenever we are around other people, which is a lot since we have many of the same friends, and it makes me feel really bad about myself because everyone laughs along with him... He makes me feel like there's something wrong that needs to be fixed and I get depressed like I am now. So I don't have confidence in myself now.

Since 10th grade, I have had a bunch of relationships that never worked out and never lasted very long. I loved two of the women very much and still love them very much. Like I said before, you never really fall out of love; you just learn to open your heart to others again.

But I will follow the trend and post a picture of myself:

equang: Probably, you would need to have more confidence on yourself. I remembered when I was child, On earlier school days, I'm being picked on and bullied. But, in one anger, I fought the bullies back, earning the "title" of being the most ferocious person in the class :P and then, no one dare to mess with me.
Anyway, I never have problems with talking to people. I know I'm probably a bit crafty to make some sort of conversation though. However, what disturbed me right now was about friendships. Actually, right now I feel that some of my friends were not my truly friends, and I started to question our friendships. Sometimes, there are thoughts on me, which told me not to trust these friends...

Hmm... Since I'm not single, I haven't visited this thread much at all. 57 pages so far? Damn, haven't seen that since maybe the pic posting thread. Congrats to Cloud for creating what seems to be the hottest thread going here!

Most of you know me as the sarcastic SOB who gives a certain group of people hell, but in here I'd be happy to help out if someone's looking for advice on the whole boy/girl thing.

I've been the shy, self-conscious one, the user, the one who got used, the player, the monk, you name it. I've probably been through just about every level of relationship hell and heaven at one time or another before settling down with my dream lady, so if anyone's looking for suggestions or an outside viewpoint on something, give me a holler!

There is this girl at work I like: I allready posted about her, and I called her house all this week the only number she gave me was her dads phone number, I haven't been able to get into contact with her, I talked to her on the phone once, I only talked to her dad should I call again sometime soon and If she isn't around ask for another number I can contact her at? Orrr Would that sound creepy.

Good way to scare someone off quick is to call all the time. I'd leave it alone for a few days, and then casually mention to her at work that you called, but she wasn't home. Then ask when would be a good time to get ahold of her, as you don't want to disturb her family, etc. If she says anytime's good, then try again in a day or two. If she gives you a time to call, call her around that time. If she says something like "if I'm not there, I'm busy", "that's the only way to get ahold of me", or whatever, then that might mean that she's either not interested or that she's a bit wary of you at the moment.

If she offers you a different number, then try that one, but I wouldn't ask for a different number right now. She may not have another number, or she may not be comfortable giving out her cell to you just yet.

It's not easy to back off when you're thinking about someone alot, but your chances are much better than if you're trying too hard.

Wow, this thread grew a lot and really fast

I too will soon graduate from this... going after a girl right now, and she likes me I think, so its pretty good. Been with this thread since well cloud first started it (and I thought it was pretty funny too... but then it becomes a great thread, and I posted one or two of my own advice to him)

minna-san, good luck!

now lets all hope it all works out for us hehe. :D

aNToK: you're right, the easy way to make someone disappear is to call all of the time, asking everything in depth details about someone's life or sometimes invading other's privacy, and probably some other actions too. I'm sure most girls will be annoyed with that kind of behavior.

Jeremiah: don't whine about yourself again, or this time I will bash you with a big hammer :P

~Adam~: you should find a good chance to ask that question. Just don't make it sounds like ur gonna stalk her or something. You know, stalkers are creepy... Maybe just try to call her when she's not at home, and the next day you ask her which number you'd better call her... A bit like a ruse, but I wish that works...

I hope everyone does well today.
Even though I didn't read the most recent pages, I'll try to read some today.

I'm going to live each day by the advice of many, including my brother.
Be yourself and don't be afraid. I was constantly secluding myself, but I'm going to be more open to others.
Many people I know say once they meet me, they think I'm a very nice person who won't break any promises.
Thanks everyone for the advice.

maintain long distance relationship perhaps?
I'd say, call her during weekend. Probably that way, she's not that busy anymore. I have a friend who's having long distance relationship, and they had endured it for at least 2 yrs (2 yrs LD and still going on, isn't that wonderful?). The key is.. for both of you to trust each other. Without trust, any relationship will crumble.
Now, what I would suggest you to do is... call her, speak with her, and tell her how much you missed her. Everything will be fine :)

Minna-san, thanks for your advice!! I've just get back from my training session after so many years of absence and here's my report.

Something has happened and I still don't believe it. There's a girl, such a beauty  and I've been introduce to be her training partner :blink !!!! God I still can't believe it... when we were practicing, I couldn't get my eyes off her. Her name is Sarah.. after the training session I wanted to talk with her and perhaps exchange our cellphone number but I couldn't dare ask her, I'm afraid of her reaction and there's another problem, she's far too younger than me and she's still at the college. I guess she's 17!!

Just thinking about her, my heart keeps pounding hard!! What should I do?

then, go for it.
Feel free to follow this advice !!!
First, you need to know if she has a boyfriend or not. Then, start to talk about your school days, have discussion, if she need help, then to offer some help on her study. If possible, you should make her smiling all the time with your stories and jokes.
I think those are kinda good enough for first plan. And don't forget to observe her behavior and report to the headquarter :D

oh, one more thing:
I took this saying from an ancient text (War manual of Sun Tzu) as an advice to you!!
"Know the enemy, Know yourself. And victory is never doubt, not in a hundred battles"

Ok then, I'll try to figure out if she has a boyfriend or not on our next training session. Talk about her school days?? Help her?? I'll be very awkward because it's been years already I've left school. Stories and jokes?? Ahh don't know any!!! Observe her behaviour.. hmm okay!! I'll do this!! But don't you think that would cause a problem I'm approx. 8 years old than her?

That's not a problem, because actually, everytime I fall down, she laugh a lot!!

You're right but what if after college she go study abroad? Most students go abroad for tertiary educations. That means it would be a long distance relationship and I'm not sure that would work out.

Cloud: I know a trick which might make you still befriend with that cameraphone girl and her friend, but you can also pursue your ms dreamgirl. It's just like asking to both of them "hey, what should I do about this girl. I like her very much, and blah blah blah". It's just like you treat her as a good friend, but you show your sign of being attracted to another girl. How's it? If she's being unreasonable, tell her that you regarded them as your close friends. And if possible, you might be able to ask them for some help to get along with your ms dreamgirl.
That's gonna solve the problem, isn't it? Oh wait, there's a possibility of the problem being much worse in this matter though.. Depending on what words you used, it can be either a nightmare or "problem solved" :pale:

long distance relationship will only work if there's trust between the two people. If there's no trust between the two people, it will never work. I know a friend who's already having a long distance relationship which lasts for at least 2 yr by now (and still ongoing). How's it?
If you're afraid of being long distance, just try to be as close as you can in your relationship.
Later on, I'll give you some tips on what you need to say when ur gonna have long distance relationship :D
and no, I'm not a player!! I'm just happen to know it from my friend's life :P

Jeremiah had a bullfrog do do doo!! :lol Its hard crushing on someone younger than you eh? I know :X I say if she is mature enough and is willing why not. My parents are 7 years apart. I wouldn't worry now about long distance its still a few months away and who knows maybe she is studying locally. Even then you can always make a road trip and have trust in the other person. I know lots of people who have went out for 2-3 years with someone like 10 hours away. I say not to worry about the future just yet and concentraite (sp?) on the present.

gooo cloud!! I say to go with your gut on this one. You are obviously in love with dreamgirl so why try to pretend cameraphone girl is the one for you. Women try to sell off sex as a selling point in getting a man. Its kinda sad actually, the main problem is there is no short supply of assholes to use that oppurtunity. I just hope she doesn't turn out like my friend, 20 and lonely. Just rememeber cloud to not paint a better picture of this dreamgirl than what she will be. You don't want to anticipate and then be let down. I guess though if you really do care for her you will accept the good along with the bad. Not that you would be the type to do that im just saying :lol

newersumm: man, I might just tell you to give up. We guys aren't ruled by emotions. Since you don't really know her, and you live far away from her, I think that the chance you two can love each other is nearly zero. There still a chance, but it's too slim and it does not worth the risk. Beautiful girls are everywhere, man... Why would you risk yourself for one who's living far away?
That's just my advice. It's nearly impossible to make it out. Maybe what I'm suggesting would be just forget about her and live your own life.

I will join this thread just for the fact I enjoy Densha Otoko quite a bit.

Anyways, Here is my problem.
I do not have so much of a problem meeting women, although I am very shy and not very self-confident. I tend to have quite a few female friends.
However, my problem is settling. In a way, I would really enjoy settling into an actual relationship, I have been in a stage of jumping from woman to woman because I simply cannot establish a relationship.
My life is busy and chaotic so women also find it hard to want to be in a solid relationship with me. I am a musician and travel every 2-3 months for a month or more at a time to go tour. My job as a software engineer is very tiresome especially with a full college load on top of it all.

Simply put, my problem is not meeting women so much, it is meeting one whom is willing to work through my busy schedule and have a nice healthy relationship.

Another problem is my inability to really talk to them because I am shy and as I said not very self confident at all

Also women have to put up with me being an anime/computer geek on the side Image.

For reference my picture(s) can be seen here:

:( newersumm its a tough situation... Things like that can work if you really try. Its tough though, but can work, you have to make it work. Tokyo is a good distance though so you have to have a serious thought on to how to make that possible.

SHIN-RA I think its more than beauty. Sure there will be other beautiful people but there is only one of you. We are not like dogs and can replace a person with another person. Not that by getting another dog can make you forget about your old dog... err Ill shut up.

Hey everyone.
I just came back from school.

Today, in Japanese class, I got that chance to work with her.
We just did what the teacher told us, that was to keep saying..

Nani o shimasu desu ka.
Piano (Subject word) o renshuu shimasu.

Then we replace piano with different words.
Just kept doing that on and on.
I think I made her laugh when I forgot to say "Nani o shimasu desu ka" about three times.
I made her laugh again by saying the sentences faster.
After that, we had to do actions in class. Like piano, you had to pretend you had an air piano.
Then GITAA (Guitar, if you didn't see GITAA OTOKO yet), we had to pretend we had an air guitar. It's a somewhat pointless way of remembering, but humorous in the end.

I hope I made a good impression.
Maybe next time, when I work with her, I'll be able to get to know her better.
I felt like I had nothing to lose.

At the end of the day, her friend knew that I had a crush on her because she had that intuition.
I really don't know if she'll keep it secret or not, but I hope she does.
I confirmed it like any other person would because we were talking in the library.
Hell, sooner or later they would find out.

She seems supportive and she'll help me out.
She said that she's a very talkative person, but I'm very quiet. However, opposites attract.
I hope so. Most of the time, I would talk a lot with a person I know very well.
I'm not that talkative if I don't know that person well. We'll see how this goes.
She's also the person not to like people who change just for her. She likes individuals and I'll remain that way. Since I was being myself for the entire day.

Anyways, I was a total different person today.
I didn't dare look at her while we were working before.
Now I'm getting involved with helping her without hesitation.

Tomorrow is going to be a day of boring tests that might help me with SATs.
It's good practice, but I really want to get back to her.
I couldn't have done it without you guys supporting me.

i've had similiar experience too. it was back in junior high when i was still in china. i met this really pretty girl and we went out together one time. i left that school for united states 1 week later. no sounds heard afterward. no idea where she is now. therefore i don't think such dreaming would work out. it'll be better if u can get in contact with her, otherwise i would think it'll be impossible.

hey guys, another day had passed and life just seems to be much shorter and longer for me. my reality is falling apart  i failed to attend the junior assembly because i totally forgot to listen to the announcement and i totally bombed a major spanish test. maybe life is just too hard for me or is it my net life is just becoming part of me? so important that it just kind start taking my life apart.

just talked to my friend, he told me i should start prioritize everything first. start by doing the most important stuff then kinda do it taht way. omg i really hope something great happens me soon. life is just being too harsh on me. by good thing or great thing, i am not praying for girlfriend or anything alife. if so, i would be ashamed of myself. maybe i can get smarter or start getting good at prioritizing everything... geez

Asking lunch is fine. If she sits alone at lunch, the better.
Keep your confidence up and look towards the future.
Since you did introduce yourselves to each other, you should get to know each other more.
Use that lunch time as your advantage. It won't seem eager, just take it nice and slow.

Hey everyone, I just joined d-addicts today, though I've been lurking for a while, and this thread caught my eye because Densha Otoko has been my addiction these past couple of months. It took me ages to read (er, skim ^^) through 60 pages worth, but I'm glad I took the time to catch up.

Thanks for every words everyone, I'll make the move and I just cross fingers!! LOL I just can't wait our next training session!! She's so kawaiii!!
Although age doesn't matter really, someone's maturity level does, and often times, age cannot be an indicator of this. Even if this girl is 8 years younger than you at 17, she may still need some time in growing up mentally. I don't really go for anyone even a few years younger than me, but from what I've observed with friends who do, they usually experience a big maturity gap even with people they've dated who are merely 3 or so years younger. That being said, I would proceed with caution. You've had 8 more years of life experience than she has, and the two of you may be on completely different mental wavelengths. I know someone suggested that you talk about your school days, and tutor her if she needs help, but then that might put you in the dreaded 'older brother' category.

Take things slowly. I would highly suggest not making a big move until you find out her interests during training sessions and see what kind of things are her number one priorities. If she seems to be someone who's open to new experiences, then maybe she won't be the type to rule out dating someone a little bit older, and you can move on to asking her for her cell phone number.

First, take a deep breath and calm down. Just remember that you've already gathered the courage to talk to her before, and her reaction to you was pretty good. I think that asking her to lunch outright is a little too foward since you've only talked to her once. Maybe asking her to grab a cup of coffee would have a more casual atmosphere.

You could do the cigarette thing again and ask for another light, and then bring up that you're craving some coffee, and if she knows any good places that she could direct you to? And if she starts listing places, you could fake it like you don't know where any of them are, and if it isn't too much trouble, maybe she could show them to you.

Or if she says she doesn't know any good places, you could say that you don't feel like looking for a place by yourself, and if she isn't busy, would she like to join you in looking for one?

I hope that helps a little. Good luck!

So this has nothing to do with my original post about my problem with time and women. But I thought this was funny enough to share.
So I go to the Dentist every 6 months like most people. And I always have the same female nurse...and I've always found it funny that she tends to seem like she's hitting on me every time...Today it was rather obvious...I am a bit out of it and cannot remember all the details.
But it is always interesting when someone prolly a good 6-8 years older than you makes passes at you when you're having your teeth cleaned Image

Just say hey if you dont mind lets have lunch together later on. Don't try to turn the story around she might think ur a hopeless guy with no guts. Dont mention anything about you liking her tho.

You could ask her to lunch, but not necessarily tomorrow...Maybe say something like 'Hey, maybe we should go do something together sometime...say lunch one of these days'
Exchange numbers or some sort of contact info so that you can contact her once you have come to a good time to meet up for lunch or something.

Excuse me if you have already obtained her number, I did not read the entire thread :)
