Re: RECOMMENDED/FAVORITE JDRAMAS (ask for suggestions here)
Any other series like "My boss my hero" ??
Preferably set in highschool and with similar humor. I'll watch more Nagase Tomoya down the line too

Re: RECOMMENDED/FAVORITE JDRAMAS (ask for suggestions here)
Oh my god, "Mikki" is the protagonist hahaha and it looks pretty funny!! Thank you
Re: RECOMMENDED/FAVORITE JDRAMAS (ask for suggestions here)
I'd love to give "Tokkyu Tanaka 3-go" a try. Do you have any idea where I can find it? I've looked everywhere that I can think of.
I'm looking for comedies to watch. My favourites are Kekkon Dekinai Otoko because it is funny but also has reality to it and My Boss My Hero (just funny).
I just finished "Watashi Kekkon Dekinai Janakute Shinain desu", a recommendation from 2018, futher up this thread. A pretty good show, some humour, some social insight and believable characters (with perhaps the exception of the kimono clad mother). Based on the same post I'm trying to get "Apoyan" but nobody is seeding. My next choice was "Freeter, Ie wo Kau" (2010) because the title sounded funny and Japanese subtitles are available. Unfortuanately it turned out to be a gritty and depressing story about the pressures of suburban life for average people in Japan, so I would like to get back to some more light hearted drama.
Does anybody have comedy recommendations from the last few years? They seem to be much more available.

Re: RECOMMENDED / FAVORITE JDRAMAS (ask for suggestions here)
Ore no Ie no Hanashi may turn out to be my favourite dorama this year.
I like Kudo Kankuro's work, and think this is one of his best. Definite echos of particularly Tiger and Dragon and to a lesser extent Unubore Deka. Surely many fan-service that I missed, but remember callbacks to T&D "Manju Kowai" and "Jugemu" Rakugo stories.
I'd avoided Kudo Kankuro's Amachan because too many GB, but think I'll try.
…
One that didn't quite work for me was Kyouen NG. I'd been interested as Nakai Kiichi starred, and the idea very vaguely resembled Mada Koi wa Hajimarenai to Saigo kara Nibanme no Koi (all time favourite) journey of Nakai Kiichi/KyonKyon gone wrong.
But story was full of gaslighting and cruel manipulation, which seemed to be rewarded in the end, so for me a feel-bad dorama, not uplifting at all. Also power structures were quite noticeable in terms of who adhered to COVID precautions, and who put others at risk.
…
Both dorama had the pandemic as a backdrop, but the pandemic was not a direct topic. These were my first dorama viewed to acknowledge pandemic, I'd wondered whether that would interfere with my escapism, but it was actually good to get it over with.

I'm re-watching Kagi no Kakatta Heya right now, and realized I haven't watched many murder mysteries in recent memory. Anyone have some unique recommendations?

My watchlist is here: https://mydramalist.com/dramalist/Susan
- 3 Nen A Gumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu (not a murder mystery per se i think. But i think its a good sugestion anyway)
- Kisaragi (Comedy-Murder Mystery movie)
- 12 Suicidal Teens (Movie)
- Kokucho no Mizuumi (Its really recent, summer 2021)
- Mask Ward (Movie)
- Re:Mind
- Signal 100 (Movie)
- The Werewolf Game (Movie series)
Also check the SPEC (Keizoku sequel, you watched it! haha) it has lots of Sci-fi elements but its entertaining.
Re: RECOMMENDED / FAVORITE JDRAMAS (ask for suggestions here)
If you like romance, Promise Cinderella is okay (Also has Fumi Nikaido)
My favorite was Enjiya. Hachigatsu wa Yoru no Batting Center de, Hyochakusha (This one has Mystery/detectives and romance. I don't know if that counts as cops tho) and Omimi ni Aimashitara are pretty fun as well.

Re: RECOMMENDED/FAVORITE JDRAMAS (ask for suggestions here)
I am looking for suggestions!
What I liked so far:
Dramas that have that Fuji terebi vibe from late 90s, early 00s: Osama no restaurant, Shomuni, Hero, Odoru
All good dramas from director Tsutsumi: Kindaichi, Keizoku, IWGP, Trick, Spec, Handoku, H2, Shimokita
Kankuro + Kumiko combination: Kisarazu, Tiger and Dragon, Ryuusei, Gomen ne
Also the best directed Kankuro drama (except IWGP, both are peak TBS): Manhattan Love Story
Finally something epic like Hanzawa (the acting was so unnatural but who cares, loved it)

Ok what's new this spring? Haven't watched anything since December. Have the feeling the stuff I used to like is no longer produced. What have you been watching lately? Esp. long-time drama watchers, thanks.
I'm currently rewatching season 1 and 2 of Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi, truly one of my favorite dramas ever...
