[Discussion] Amachan

Post by daishi31103 » Apr 17th, '13, 14:24

New asadora (morning drama) that starts on 2013/4/1, Amachan is a very interesting drama. The main actress is 19 years old cute girl, Nounen Rena. I love this series. No one else?

The story sounds interesting and I took a look at the cast list and it has some interesting actors too!

I'm looking forward to it, I hope someone will pick it up and start uploading it.

Since it's an asadora. It will be aired every morning except sunday at 8.00 am for 15 minutes each episode. I really hope someone upload it from the first episode. It started on april 1st. So it's already 15 episodes by now.

Me too. I really wanna watch this drama. I saw the first week episodes online, and it's really interesting. I hope someone upload this drama at least in 720p. Thanks in advance!

I hope someone is able to download these and post them here as torrent. I have been going through withdrawals. Watched the first three weeks, but haven't been able to continue since most of the Chinese torrent sites went offline. It's a wonderful asadora.

I just discovered that avant genius Otomo Yoshihide (best known as a turntablist) has created an Amachan soundtrack for NHK.
http://natalie.mu/music/news/87781
Sorry, Japanese only.
Apparently, this isn't his first work for a dorama.
It's moments like these when I think, "HOW COOL IS JAPAN?" (Head explodes.) :faint:

Seems like the link I put earlier doesn't work anymore, the actual weibo for translating group is this:

http://weibo.cn/fantuanzimu

Only Chinese Hardsub though. And you need to know Chinese to navigate the download site... You can watch streaming video at the links after "bilibili"

Finish the first 3 weeks of Amachan. Fun, but also serious at times, and more complicated than I expected, particularly with the relationships. I am still not sure what this series is really about, especially in view of spoilers I've read. Nounen Rena is super kawaii, and a good actress too. There are still a lot I am not sure what to make of, so not sure what to say, but watching 15-minutes episodes felt like they were over in a much shorter time, that's always a good sign.

The opening music is really catchy, I bobbed my head along with the music with a smile the first few times I heard it. :)
jejeje
is really funny. :D I have smiled a few times while thinking about the scenes even when I was not watching. ^^

I can't read a wall of kanji !! Weibo sucks... : (

We need someone awesome to bring Amachan to the western world... Torrents on D-addicts and eng. subs would seriously make my day...

Been dying to see this!

Definitely not Kansai-ben but lot of characters speak in a different dialect... though I can still understand somehow and enjoy the show even with my limited Japanese. xD

I don't mind watching the episodes through streaming sites everyday. It'd be awesome if someone can upload it here and provide English subs though.

Week 4 totally won me over. I ended up with a big happy grin as I finished watching it. :D This series is probably not as complicated than I made it out to be, Haruko (and her past) is the complicated one, Aki is actually a very sweet, adorable, ordinary girl. The end of week 4 is a good place to stop, if I continue watching, the wait every week will probably become agonizing.

I was watching Umechan Sensei right before Amachan. At the end of week 1, I liked Umechan more but now at the end of week 4, I prefer Amachan.

I saw the first five episodes and it's really adorable. I can barely understand things because of my limited japanese but the humor gets through. I laugh hard every time they say "jejeje!" :lol

The opening theme is adorable. I can't wait to catch up with the rest of the episodes.

Matsuda Ryuhei makes his appearance this week. I'm excited. :D

Acc. to reports, Kuji City where the drama is shot received 110,000 visitors (twice the number from previous year) during the recent Golden Week. Such is the power of an NHK asadora. :)

Hm, the story sounds intriguing, since I'm a nature person at heart and it does differ from the usual Tokyo urban setting so it's something for me. But 156 eps of just 15 minutes seems like quite the commitment especially always waiting for a new episode. :(

I think I'll wait until the series is done before starting.I couldn't stand the waiting.

You're welcome :-) Credits to NGB.

When I'd first heard of amachan, the first thing that came to mind was that amasan segment in tampopo.

Then I found these photos (link) of an amasan who caused quite a sensation in 2009.

Btw, I've edited my first post to include a link to untimed jp subs. Credits to whoever is maintaining that indispensable site.

Thank you for posting this. I've had the first episode in HD for a while but couldn't find the other episodes in 720p. I stopped watching it for a bit since I was waiting for someone to upload it here but this will do. I'm currently in episode 3 and can finally rewatch it in HD! I've find this drama easy to follow so far and my favorite actress plays Yui Adachi.

I thought it was already popular with each episode getting at least 20% of rating views.

Still waiting on week 9 to appear somewhere. Love Ai Hashimoto and the atmosphere of this drama. Also, the soundtrack used in this drama is amazing. I love Aki's theme. Here's someone playing it:

The original soundtrack doesn't come out until the 19th but it'll be worth the wait just to hear that theme and "Family."

does anyone have a torrent file for the posted link? I've been wanting to translate it through reading the srts :). I use utorrent, I also don't know how to use magnet links, especially when my hard disk has a low space so every time I download I put them in my external. Those numbers doesn't do well in my laptop :lol

Don't click on the big download button.

Look for the three links under download torrent, the second link is what you want.

week 1-6

The torrent links for week 7 and week 8 are not working..

Week 9 is available at this weibo (Chinese version of twitter)

http://weibo.com/tpctpctpc

but I think you need to register to see the links, and they don't want people posting the links elsewhere or uploading to streaming websites.

There's one link that doesn't require understanding Chinese at the download site. Please pm me if interested. And share only privately.

Episode 55 onward can be found here: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2372471812
mp4 format, file size smaller
Download links then password then click on downward blue arrow button.
The person sharing didn't specify sharing policy, but I guess it's best to be discrete and share privately only.

I didn't mean popular in terms of ratings (and ~20% is pretty common for asadoras), I meant popular outside Japan in drama fandom.

What some 2ch viewers think of the show at the start:
http://majide2ch.blogspot.com/2013/04/a ... ng-22.html

But as for future episodes....
They are not too thrilled about the Tokyo arc.
http://majide2ch.blogspot.com/2013/06/a ... ounen.html

As for me, the Tokyo arc is necessary to propel the story forward. The viewer should realize it's not just about being an Ama or an Idol. It's about characters who made or are continuing to make decisions that will come back to haunt them in the future. Like Haruko, slowly and ironically becoming like her own mother...
The Tokyo setting is also important for I predict it will set the stage for Aki to finally meet Suzuka Hiromi, who obviously had a bitter past with Haruko. It's the one arc I am really looking forward to.

Looking at the preview for this coming week, it'll really be difficult to watch...

The show so far reminds me a lot of Teppan, incidentally, both had the heroines jumping off pier-like structures into the sea within the first week :lol

A quicklist of common plot points in question form:
Does Teppan and Amachan have:

heroines meeting long lost grannys?
long lost grannys making heroines jump into a large body of water? More than once?
long lost grannys not getting along with rebellious daughters? i.e. heroines' moms
flashbacks of conflicts between grannys and rebellious daughters?
heroines taking interest in granny's delicious work while their rebellious moms chose something less glam, like music?

There are individual interviews with the cast here. The video quality is poor but the interviews are long.

Week 13 with Chinese hardsubs is available here. Resolution is 852x480.

this link was a dead end for me - and after searching around for some time, I found a link that seems to still be active: here

right above the large image. the link seems to be working as of this moment.
