Asian movies/dramas - time travel

Post by Neyjour » May 7th, '09, 10:18

I'm looking for movies and dramas that have a time travel theme...and English subs, please!

I've only been able to find one movie so far (Summer Time Machine Blues - loved it!) and one TVB drama (don't remember the name right off) which sounded very good, but sadly it only had Chinese subs.

Hope you all can help me out!

TIA!
Ney

The only drama I know of dealing with time would be Long Love letter:

For a movie a recent one that I enjoyed with a time travel element was Cyborg girl.

If you're looking for something in the sci fi genre, this isn't it, but...

Proposal Daisakusen
DramaWiki wrote:Iwase Ken and Yoshida Rei have been friends since elementary school. Ken, is obstinate and unskilled in love, but he fell long ago for the lively and cheerful, Rei. But Rei is about to get married to another man. While Ken and other friends from high-school attend the wedding ceremony, a fairy appears and sends Ken back in time, giving him a second chance to win the girl he loves.

Bubble he GO!!! (バブルへGO!!), also known as "Bubble Fiction".

Starring Abe Hiroshi & Hirosue Ryoko.

Involves a journey into the past - to 1990 - to try to prevent the Japanese economic bubble from bursting.

And... the time machine is a laundry washing machine.

Doesn't get better than that, folks.

Thanks so much everyone! I've updated the first post with all the titles that have been mentioned! :)

honey_almond, "A Step Into the Past" is the TVB drama that I thought sounded really good! But I was only able to find it with Chinese subs. Do you know where I can find it with English subs?

The Japanese movie Returner has a girl from the future come to the present to change history and save the human race from an alien invasion.

There's a Sonny Chiba movie, I think the name is Samurai G.I. about a SDF unit that finds itself in the warring states era.

Thanks everyone! I've updated the list, and also added "The Myth". I had forgotten that one!

I'm so glad to see there are so many! I love all types of time travel, but my fave is when people from the present end up in the far/ancient past. :D

I know this is an old thread, but I was surprised to not see Ima Ai ni Yukimasu/Be With You on the list. There was both a drama and a movie version of the novel.

Many episodes of Yonimo Kimyo na Monogatari deal with time travel or altering events so that the person involved is living a different life. One episode dealt with a boy who could stop time altogether. I do have direct download links. If you want them, just PM me.
