I also was rooting for those two in the drama. I hope something good happens between Riiko & Soshi I hope this SP will be a good one. I really did enjoy the dramastrawberrynkiwi wrote:yes i really liked hiro as soshi.
always rooted for riko and soshi in the drama, not the manga though.
the drama didn't really do night justice, but for soshi instead. lol which i didn't mind at all.
yay i am so excited!i was hopelessly addicted to zettai kareshi and i seriously couldnt picture the actor who played knight as a normal human after that. i tried watching his other drama "oh my girl" and i had to stop after less that 15 minutes coz the thought of him as a normal human being just failed to register in my mind.oh japanese dramas how you have messed with my mind!
*continues to watch anyway*
and weehoo more mizushima hiro goodness!

3 years have passed and Riko & Soshi are engaged. They plan to fly home to Japan to throw an engagement party. While walking home, Riko is assaulted by delinquents. A passer-by comes to the aid of Riko, and the savior is none other than robot Tenjo Knight.
Can't wait.
I love Night, but if Riko won't be with Soshi, it's sad.
How will the story be like ? It's difficult to wait.

Zettai Kareshi was my first J-dorama and I hold it dear to me. I thought that Aibu Saki's acting was quite kawai (loved how she pulled off all her different facial expressions) and I thought the 2 male leads were very likable. Hayami is perfect as Naito because of his good looks. Hiro Mizushima is very kakoi.
I loved watching Naito as he was learning to become more human and also how to truly love Riko.

Hmm... I really wonder how they'll make it work...
I mean the drama ending was alright, I wasn't expecting an SP
Still, I'm looking forward to the SP
I think this is the time for Riko to really decide
I mean, she didn't get to decide at first right?
Night chose for her, which is unfair in some standard...
Though... If she doesn't choose Soshi...
Or if the ending ended up with some Pinocchio ending
I'm going to be really disappointed... >.<

Thank you for the trailer. I'm looking forward to the SP. Even though, I agree that the show more or less had a solid ending: Riiko could always keep Night in her heart as her first love and she and Soshi could become closer. I will freely admit that I loved Night and Riiko together, but it was alright that he "died". Now, he's back? I like that -but, poor Riiko is going to be so confused.
I too was suprised to know about the SP. the ending was perfect and did not need any extras. the orginal manga is short itself (only 5 volumes). so i really wondering how they going to make the story.
it is not that she can have both of them by her side because we all know non of them will agree to it. i can't really see much of story going in this SP apart from the fact that both boys will fight over the girl.
i still will watch though. only for Hiro's sake.

Hopefully it'll have somewhat a good storyline rather than just the boys fighting over Riko...Issy wrote:I too was suprised to know about the SP. the ending was perfect and did not need any extras. the orginal manga is short itself (only 5 volumes). so i really wondering how they going to make the story.

I'm bt'ing the SP now (it's been over 12 hours) and I'm looking forward to it. Though, I still don't see what the story could be. I love Night and honestly think everyone could of been happiest the way the show ending: Night peacefully sleeping, Riiko with the chip and her memories, Soshi with a chance.
Now Night is back (but, is he the same?) and we are back to where we started: Night and Soshi fighting over Riiko. The only way for all of them to be happy is if there were a robot Riiko who was as special as Night. Is this SP just an hour or so of the same stuff that happened in the series? That seems like a waste.
Loving all three characters, I want them all to have a happy ending, but with this SP, I'm not sure if it is possible.

^ Have to agree with you, nikkibell. I skimmed the SP today as well, story-wise it's almost lousy.
But then I do think the ending of the drama was spot on, I'm very satisfied with it....so I wasn't hoping for anything fr the SP, a bit more Naito was all I was asking and I got plenty! ^^ So I did get what I want.
For some reason, Naito+Riiko is less magical this time around. It does lack a bit of that giddy cuteness I'm esp fond of in last couple eps of the drama. And I still don't feel anything for Riiko+Soshi AT ALL.
I cracked out in scenes of Naito and 'dad' Namikiri. They are oozing serious chemistry. PLEASE make a drama with them as dad and son, what's more, make them both in the gigilo biz! lol

I agree. Night/Naito is adorable and he and Riiko were the reasons I wanted to watch. But, something felt off about them this time around. I suppose because Riiko was
As for Riiko/Soshi, I also never felt one way or the other about them in the drama. While I really liked both characters apart, together they never did anything for me. And yes: the actors that play Night/Naito and Namikiri are awesome together. Those two characters are so amusing together that they kind of made the SP bearable.

To begin with, I did not really like the drama because of the way Naito was treated through out, so logically I did not have any expectations for the SP. I wasn't even planning on watching the SP after I read how crap it was. But seeing that Naito reunites with Namikiri in the SP,(and hopefully there's the landlady as well) I think I'll give this a shot. I just love Namikiri and landlady to bits.wail wrote: I cracked out in scenes of Naito and 'dad' Namikiri. They are oozing serious chemistry. Missed you wail. =)
^ hi xento! "おかぇり"
yesyesyes, Namikiri is totally <33 (and yes Landlady is still cutely pervish lol) I do like barlady as well, but she's just not as quirky and fascinating as those 2.
I'm not sure if it's because I didn't watch the SP live and bumped into all the whining on how crappy this was, it's almost like some Naito fans wanna murder writters/smash monitors....AND I was totally not expecting any drastic miracle to happen, I did enjoy bits and some aspects of the SP. I did readjust how I took how they treated Naito by ep9 of the dorama. As a rule, I don't mind my fondest characters killed off in any drama as long as it's not there for cheap senseless melo. I thought in ZK, it was progressed and written as well as it could. The writer has long decided: Yes, 'love is miracle' but also 'robot is robot', the fruit of the miracle is only for humans to 'enjoy'....no matter how much we have grown very fond of our 'electrical appliance' , Yuu Watase has Naito's fate sternly decided.
I mean on a broader stroke (and please just turn off the PC radar...), there will never ever be another culture that has the robotic obsession so ingrained as the Japanese. Yet, true to Confucius, harmony and thus strict social norms are revered....they do appreciate almost robotic, mechanical precisions even in human behaviors. However as a culture they are not tolerant with diversity, so though they love their robots, or Chinese dumplings, or Americana....it'll never be pure Nihon. And their obsession with robots will never override their fear of losing control, or their human identity. Also, there is the aspect of domination and inferiority... Naito is created, he's a diff set of 'rights' and he'll never be equal with 'us'. He should have to stick to his 'social role'/programming and be dutifully contented, yet he's gone awire!!
For me, all that he won't grow old, can't have kids are kinda bs to give grounds for Naito's demise. He can always go back to lab and do sthsth to his appearances.... kids...nowadays with the birth rates in historical lows, and there is a condition called 'infertility' in real humans....in vitro, adoptions... there are just so many ways to go around. But I do like how on one side of the coin , Naito did it for Riiko's happiness, yet he also said he's internally devastated, tormented by his eternal unchanging love for Riiko and how much he CAN'T give her/love her, yet he's supposed to be her ideal. So his decision has an element 'self-awareness' or 'self preservation' to it that I appreciate.
I do have some bones to pick on the wishywashiness of Riiko in SP. She's totally 2 timing no matter how I look at her. Soshi is her fiance, then ACT and THINK like his fiancee. I dont see love for Soshi at all, so the ending of 'Okaeri' and 'tadaima' is buggy.

@wail
i really enjoyed your thoughts about the drama and its SP and i totally agree with all of it.
reading some post earlier on how they are disappointed of the SP because Nighto did not end up with reiko (even was so expected of this ending knowing that how yuu watase ended the manga herself) left me so confused and made me to believe that most fans actually are confusing the nighto's charactor and mokomichi's as a person. maybe if it was not mokomichi as the robot nighto, their point of view be any different?
or maybe, because everyone will be backing up something unreal because it does not happen in real life.
i think we read enough about robot love Vs Human Love in earlier posts. i was one of those who totally backed up nighto's love few years ago when i was reading the manga and was completely devestated by its ending.
but few year later and after watching the live action, i totally understand why Yuu Watase ended up the manga this way. your point given is totally true.
and as i said, sp was disapponiting far beyond my imagination.
and the kiss in that picture in some earlier posts, i thought it was one of the lousiest and fake kiss ever in hisotry of japanese dramas. it was very painful to watch.

can't agree more. i always wondered why on earth soshi liked reiko in the first place. while others are screaming obout how nighto was treated in SP and in the drama, i was so angry on how soshi was treated. specially in the SP.I do have some bones to pick on the wishywashiness of Riiko in SP. I completely agree with you. Soshi was being treated like crap. TBH if i was soshi when I found out that nighto was a robot, I would have died laughing at reiko and moved on. I would have liked the story better if she didnt fall in love with nighto. At least it would show that she's somewhat sane.Issy wrote:@wail

@ Issy. Yes, Soshi was treated with less care/respect than fly on the wall in the SP. I don't really care/feel for his character all along but imo it's kinda part his fault. He didnt respect himself enough. If your fiancee still doesnt feel comfy enough to call your name..after 3+ years, get a clue. Honestly I've never seen Soshi having any memorable act of showing his love for Riiko, except just hanging around, or keeping a promise to Naito. I can let it slide in the dorama, but in the SP as fiance to that woman, and now Roboto is back to take it all back...ie he wont have his love, his marriage to be, the future as planned...and he just LET IT BE with an 'I understand'?!?! come on...that's your woman this 'thing' has come back to claim, screw that letter or whatever pact, that's btn dudes (not even), and you and Naito aren't really real buds to start out with. What's there to understand?!?! coz I'm totally lost.
@ Paradise lost: As a Naito's fangirl, I can't see how she can not fall for him after 11 eps story-wise esp fr the dorama. She did put up a great fight against the notion, way longer than many manga fans hoped, but I liked that. IF u meant the SP, yeah, I wished she HAD matured into more of a cooler tactful character, so either she's still in love with Naito and be an even more complete ass (if possible) to Soshi and at least have the courtesy, heart and integrity to not agree to the engagemt. How can you agree to marriage when she's sorta not over Naito AND she clearly doesn't love Soshi AT ALL. She just has no endearing quality to her.
And yes, there was never any explanation whatsoever on y Soshi would fall for her to tolerate all the crap. In the manga, at least we know he's been harboring feelings for her all along growing up tog. In the drama, all we got is just that she can bake and maybe make an ok patissier at his company (frankly, I dont really see her as that great either in that aspect, all she can make is a shu cream, she doesnt even know how to handle a simple crisis in SP). That's not wifey material, esp when she's so indifferent/fake nice towards him.
In the drama, I can perfectly stand her being her annoying MarySue. Coz logically Naito will fall for any girl he's programmed to, so she can be any breathing female (or even male FWIW) and Naito+Riiko is still logically plausible.
But the whole Riiko+Soshi arc was very poorly done. It's almost laughable and as if the writer had set out for it to look so fake/ flawed in order to emphasize how dreamy and genuine Naito's love was.
For that SP kiss, at that point, Riiko had already annoyed my behind sooo off. She knew Naito's demise and all she can ask was 'so u can't take care of me anymore?!.......' W T F
But fr Naito's pov I totally get that he's going to say he was programmed to, that's him being considerate to that woman's 'feelings' so she won't be as 'hurt' or whatever. And his nonresponsiveness to her kiss was just not to make the goodbye any harder for both. (poor Naito) haha I mean maybe Naito has become a man for real this time, and saw more of his Riiko and how pathetic she was, yet he's CREATED to love this woman forever and ever and that totally pushed him off the edge and asked Dad y he is a robot and wanna just end his misery sooner rather than later. (not that I condone suicide...not even for robots...)
She just has no endearing quality to her.

but when i was watching the drama, i had the impression that she was more in love with soshi than nighto until she got comfortable with robotic love and started feeling nighto's love. now, not so surewail wrote:@ Issy. What's there to understand?!?! coz I'm totally lost.
because in one scene where soshi confessed to reiko that he loves her , she said that she has been in love with him too.
these all makes me even more sure to believe that reiko does not deserve any of those loves. when she was with nighto she was not sure about it and when she was with soshi, she could not forget about nighto. never had any courage to admit to one love and stick with it. that is why, i was so annoyed when i was watching the drama and even more annoyed watching the SP.
as you said, soshi in the manga was her childhood friend and was always in love with her and helped her most of the times.
and to be honest, i am getting used to watching weak famale characters in mangas and dramas that make all those strong male character want to die for them for no reason.

@wail: yeah well im a guy so im saying it from a man's point of view. I don't see how a robot programmed to say "Riiko I love You" is anything to get mushy and want to love him over. I def agree with you, i dont know, i just wasn't feeling this whole robot/human love triangle. Wierd subjects like that just turn me off especially the forbidden loves between student and teacher, stuff creeps me out. But hey I still like Mokomichi especially in Oh! My Girl! kinda sucks that they cancelled it

^^ I have to totally agree with you, even though I am a girl. Everyone loves Naito, but not me. I liked him more in the manga, because you can't really tell he is a robot. But with Mokomichi, he acts like a robot and everything he does it robotic and program. My values are a bit different from other girls, I tend to see little flaws as something attractive in boys, it gives them character, which I didn't think Naito had much of.
Beside all that, I am obviously a Soshi fan (and Hiro fan). Soshi in the manga, not as attractive, but you still think he deserved Riiko. Soshi in the drama was not so well written. Like someone else said, your fiance is basically cheating on you and not calling you by your name after 3 years and you aren't doing anything bout it. I dunno if its just the Japanaese culture or what, its like showing any public affection is a bad thing. Which leads for me to say Riiko's kissing is terrible and the okaeri and tadema ending was even worst. Soshi and Riiko still looks like boss and worker. I actually enjoyed them bickering in the beginning of last season, I think they have chemistry, but I guess at the end of the day, they have to make it more like Riiko and Naito happy ending, even though they aren't together, and not Soshi and Riiko ending.
ahh whatever, Hiro is so hot in black jacket
I think he looks best as Soshi, then Rihito, then Nanba-senpai.

ahhh...paradise lost, what I like about the drama is that though it was a taboo subject, I went in totally not buying the notion, it made sense for Riiko to fall for Naito. I don't like the manga...even though I turned down my rational radar entirely and treated it as shoujo as possible...it still didnt work, I would totally use the argument of 'he's a robot, he's programmed that way,....how can u fall for that?!!?!" coz in the manga Riiko fell for Naito very promptly. In the drama at least we saw a truckload of buildup of what Naito did that would move this pathetic and square Riiko.
What doesnt work for me in the manga, was actually pretty well altered in the drama. First, Riiko is CLUELESS. She was written to be this super naive gullible nympho almost that would fall for almost any male thing that did one kind deed towards her. (so yeah, on that note, Issy, when Riiko said she loves Soshi, it's less meaning to me than seabreeze.) She did consciously use the ' robot=programmed>can't fall for him' to treat Naito as crap/scrap till maybe ep 8, 9. But then Naito developed his own consciousness by then, so what he did/said is no longer programmed. I mean if u r so strict as to not go out on that limb, then yeah, Riiko+Naito is bleh.
@strawberrynkiwi, to be frank, I'm annoyed when ppl said Moko's robot is too robotic. um...he's a robot, made entirely by the weird and quirky Namikiri who is AWKWARD (and hilirious) around ppl. What do u expect?! Manga Namikiri is one genius coy boy, here the emphasis is on how eccentric. On one hand we're slapping Naito for being all annoyingly sweet and loving just coz he's programmed to, then we're beating him for being robotic coz he's made so. Logical much?! What made the drama worked for me was Naito is crude, he's not 'perfect' in all sense of the word, but that's his charm. U see him being childish and lack normal social skills, yet stubborn beyond his program to risk everything for Riiko (fire in 5). I see flaws in him that made him charming...esp to a girl like Riiko.
errrr.... Riiko and Naito happy ending?!?@#!? W H E R E?! I mean it's fine being fangirl and all, like u said all I see Soshi and Riiko having sth going on was when bickering/baking. They worked well as pastry chef and sous chef maybe but yet as u said, u saw nth more than boss and worker...and y in any mind should making a Soshi Riiko ending worked at all?!?!
Hiro is a handsome guy, he's yummy as Rihito and his Nanba stood out, but I disliked his Soshi (yeah even the look, and esp the hair). Passive guys that proclaimed his love for a woman yet will just let her go without a serious fight turns me very off. It just showed he can either live with or without her...and is this love?! To me, Soshi knows nth much about love....same with Riiko. Maybe they do deserve each other.

^^ That's fine with me.
It's just how I feel and also the reason why Naito didn't capture my heart. I guess the Naito in the manga, really made an impression on me, as this human-like robot. I mean I don't mind the socially awkward stuff, but the robotic body movements doesn't really flow my boat.
I guess I had to clarify what I meant with the happy ending for Naito and Riiko. In a sense that, they had to keep the fans happy, or at least less sad, with that crummy im home/im back ending. Instead of a wedding scene or a make out scene of Soshi and Riiko. That would make the Naito fans "really" sad.
PERSONALLY, I believe that is why Soshi turned out to be such a weak character here. If they made him more assertive, people would want Riiko to end up with Soshi instead of Naito. So I guess they exaggerated a little on all of the characters- Naito, Soshi and Riiko.
not here to prove anything, just purely to say how i felt bout this drama.

I still haven't catch the SP yet, been living in real life lol...
But I've seen about five minutes of it... lol
I quite enjoy it though =D
Since my Japanese pretty much sucks...
I gotta wait for SARS-Sub before I can comment too much...
