Yes, I was also thinking this when I read it... I was like, they did a remake of it already? Then I went back and took a closer look into the Fire Boys page and saw that the character names were different...Gir wrote:The synopsis makes it sound a lot like Fireboys. I wonder about a common source for both shows.
But I did find it interesting to note that in Fire Boys, the main guys name was Daigo, while Daichi is the main guys name in Rescue Dai-chan! Sorry, I couldn't resist. I make my own fun.
Either way, I'm usually a sucker for these types of dramas, so I can't wait for it to come out

There's something about Japanese dramas that really drives me nuts. Don't they hire technical advisers? This is like television in the US in the 50s. I'll bet the real Japanese firemen, rescue teams, and EMTs get a big laugh out of watching something like this. It really spoils the drama when absolutely nothing in either the training or actual emergency situations looks realistic at all. The other side of this is that the acting performances are uniformly good from all parties and there are some excellent moments, dramatically, but I just can't buy it because it falls so badly on it's face, technically. There have been some medical and police dramas that have been very good but they stay away from the details or at least take the trouble to make it believable. There have been enough to show they can do it if they want to. This story idea had some real potential, but, for me, if they are going to show the details, and make them pivotal to the story, they should have taken the trouble to get them right.
Am I the only one who think that this drama butchered the first movie of Umizaru? Especially the first half of the drama when the guys are still in training? I rewatched the Umizaru movie with a friend the other day and can't help but notice how similar those two are, even the dialog and some of the scenes...freaky huh?
Anyway, usually I like this type of drama but Rescue is just blah...I don't know if it's the acting or the fake scenarios. Or maybe because Nakamaru, Matsuda, and Yusuke are just too young/fragile to be rescuers.
