btw does anyone know if any subbing groups have top caster planned?? i remember some group stopped subbing due to the difficulty --> its suppose to be a great drama so i hope someone will pick it up if not done so already.

just real quick, is Seigi no Mikata any good?

IMO its the best comedy so far this year, sure I wouldn't classify it as the best drama I've ever seen but I still enjoyed watching it

I'm also enjoying Bloody Monday this season.

Hey can anyone reccomend a good jdrama for me to watch? I just recently finished watching Suika and Kanojo ga Shinjatta and liked them both. Any reccomendations based on these?

The premise of Yukan Club is superficial and shallow, the rich kids are selfish idiots suffering the woes of being able to do and afford anything, the plot goes nowhere, and the mysteries are below Scooby Doo level. But I did laugh consistantly, sometimes at it rather than from it. If you're basically looking for some fluffy comedy and JE boys to ogle, you could give the first episodes a shot to see how you feel.

I agree 100%, it's one of those shows that I pretty much enjoyed but can't exactly recommend.

I already watched "long vacation" (it was a long time ago...)and "Yama Onna Kabe Onna " more recently but it will not stay in my memory.

I think I'll try "Utahime" "Konshu Tsuma ga Uwaki Shimasu" and "Ashita no Kita Yoshio "

I'm looking for dramas that are similar to "Densha Otoko" & "Kekkon Dekinai Otoko". Basically shows where the main characters are somewhat misunderstood and even ****(but have the intelligence or corkiness to pull it off). I really enjoyed "Kekkon Dekinai Otoko" because of Hiroshi Abe's performance. It reminded me very much of the American show "House"(even though I barely watch it).

Before anyone mentions it, I've seen/enjoyed these jdramas so far:

"Dream Again"
"Giragira"(even though it's not complete yet)

Did you see Mahiru no Tsuki with Oda Yuji and Tokiwa Takako, Kanin?
It's not as dark as Kono yo no Hate but you could enjoy it if you liked the other one.

My favourite romance drama include:

- Utsukushii Hito, le bel Homme which is also a thriller
- Beautiful Life
- Last christmas
- Long Vacation
- Orange days
- Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi

Here is the wikidrama page for Change, Ino-Chan; in a few words Its about a newbie in the politician world who becomes the first minister. He refuses to be a puppet and tries to change the politics. Kimu Taku is the lead actor.
Not a bad drama, but I was expecting a more original script.

After watching a few new dramas I have to add more to my fav list lol.
Jotei- Just gotta watch!

Psych Eijie- Feels almost like IWGP in my opinion

Itsumo Futari de- This was the first drama I've ever watched but didn't finish til recently when I was able to download it rather than catching it on tv once a week.

Life- One brutal school bullying drama.

Bara no nai Hanaya- This is great, I love the characters and the feel of it even the gradual change in the characters as things are revealed is great.

Ningen no Shoumei

I haven't been watching to many dramas recently since most of my time been taken up by korean horror flicks but I'm still searching for some good dark dramas ^.^

Thanks I read about Mahiru no Tsuki and have put it on my see-list but the only reason I'm hesitant is because I don't like Oda since I saw Last Christmas. After seeing Taiyo to Umi I was even more convinced his acting is not in my taste. But maybe Mahiru is better.

So fare from reading posts here I'm considering:

Also, I've been pretty busy this year. The only '08 shows I've seen are the hosptial ones from the summer, Maou, and Yasuko to Kenji. I miss any good stuff since '07?

Oh Mwulf for this season, I recommend watching Bloody Monday as well as Nanase Futatabi because even though this one is so underrated, I think it's one of the best this season.

Mmm i don't think liar game really fits into the category. DEFINITELY catch Maou. Excellent plot with very good acting by the leads. I love the pacing as well

For you avid Jdorama fans, well ok anyone, what would you recommend for something that has a similar feel as Long Love Letter aka Drifting Classroom? Like something ambiguous or sci-fi- ish (is that a word) on the beginning but as the story progresses, everything comes together and all is explained in the end. A drama that makes you think

Or could be something like Ima Ai ni Yukimasu that has a simple melancholic atmosphere but a BIG twist ending.

Oh, well Unfair is more like Maou where they are trying to catch one criminal. If you want something with multi-case episodes then you might want to look at Puzzle 2008, Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbou 3 or Jikou Keisatsu.

Man, there are a TON of episodic-type detective mysteries out there. Other series not mentioned already (off the top of my head and not necessarily recommendations...depends on what kind of mystery you like):
33 pun Tantei
Gonzo ~ Densetsu no Keiji (there is an overarching case, but I think most of the episodes can be considered fairly self-contained)
HERO
Fugoh Keiji Series
Kochira Hon Ikegami Sho Series
Odoru Daisousassen
Keiji no Genba

I know there are plenty more than that too...

Ame to Yume no Ato ni and it's "sister" drama Teru Teru Ashita
Sexy Voice and Robo (terribly underrated and underwatched series... kinda fits the mystery thing too)
Flowers for Algernon
YASHA
Ashita no Kita Yoshio (sort of)
And this might be a stretch, but Queen's Classroom/Jyoou no Kyoushitsu kind of fits this description as well.

All of these series have been completely subbed (but not all are on the tracker here....yet...).

I downloaded KOIZORA yesterday and watched all episodes. I never cried that long in my entire life. After watching I was searching the web for any proof that Hiro was actually still alive and only an actor.

What a beautiful story. I hope this will be translated and shown in my country some day.

There is another question I have. Would anybody know a good place to download other Japanese TV shows, like comedy, etc. I love drama but I am also interested in other Japanese TV.

I was blown away.

I started watching jdorama almost a year ago and I became a real fun...I have watched several series and the thing that I love the most is that these series last fortunately about 10 to 12 episodes...I really liked "101 marriage proposals" and "bus driver"...my question is could someone suggest some jdorama like the above I just mentioned? Koshonin (Negotiatior) and Unfair are both very good n fairly new detective jdramas starring my fav more mature female leads too.

101 Marriage Proposals was i think my 1st jdrama back in 1991 with one of the best OST "Say Yes" i've enjoyed til today. If u'r talking abt that same old drama i've watched, then i recommend:

well, for 2008 i would recommend Last Friends (dark, angst, suspense..), Bara no nai Hanaya (the mood is just right!!), and Zettai Kareshi (comedy)

If you're looking for tearjerkers, I have to recommend Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu. I didn't cry at Koizora (I only watched the movie, not the drama), but Sekaichuu had me sobbing. It's one of my all-time favorite j-dramas.

Yes I've seen Sekai, it was good but not anything near 1 litre.

Very few dramas can ever come close to 1 litre no Namida cause it had roughly 7 out of 11 episodes that were fantastic and the rest were just great. Not many series can compete with that.

I share the same sentiments that Koizora movie wasn't as good as its rave reviews found everywhere. Koizora jdrama i'd really only recommend if u'r a fan of the movie. Actually i found the jdrama better than the jmovie. Heavenly Forest still rules as my fav jmovie of the genre ... it's beautiful n enchanting ... give it a try.

Daisuki, on the other hand i find a very good inspiring n highly recommended jdrama of the human genre. I'm not a parent but learnt a lot from Daisuki about raising a child through different age stages, and what it takes to be a good parent. Karina's acting was superb. It's the next best crying drama i've watched since 1 Litre of Tears.

I sooooo love Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. I watched all episodes in one sitting -- 12 straight hours. I also watched the special without subtitles though I don't understand a word of Japanese. It's adapted from the manga of the same name and has also been produced as a series in Taiwan (so a Taiwan version exists). It deviates a little from the manga and Taiwan, and if you ask me, the jdorama is way, way, way, way better than either of the two. It spawned a cult following here at d-addicts and the special was the most anticipated show this summer. It catapulted both Horikita Maki and Ikuta Toma to superstardom. And only a brickwall can resist the charm of Oguri Shun.

This series started me into a binge of downloading -- live action jdoramas, animés and mangas. Because of Hana Kimi, I discovered Zettai Kareshi, Kirasagi, Deru Toko Demasho, Honey and Clover, Nobuta wo Produce, Ouran High Host Club, School Rumble, Itazura na Kiss, W Juliet, etc.

Hana Kimi the series and the special were subbed by SARS.

Trick is very nice too
If you are looking for more suspense dramas, there is SP (Security Police) and currently running Bloody Mondey which is in my opinion the best drama of this season.
