Jackie Cheng, Jet Li, and Liu Yifei starring a movie!!

Post by shayni » Apr 11th, '07, 00:02

This is the first time for Jackie and Jet Li to work together, and it will start film by May. Reporters confirmed that Liu Yi Fei (my idol!) and Li Bing Bing are accepted by director 'Robert Mi-En-Ke-Fu' something and will be playing the role of 'golden sparrow' and 'white hair demonic woman'

has anyone heard of this?

title:"King of kungFu"

Jackie Cheng? LOL At least get the name right dude. :O

The official name for the movie has been decided as 《功夫之王》 (literally translated as "King of Kung Fu"). The story will be based loosely on the classic novel "Journey to the West". Production starts on May 7. Yuen Wo Ping will be the martial arts director. The director for this movie is Rob Minkoff.Jet Li and Jackie Chan will play two famous roles respectively: Monkey King and Monk Sandy. The two action stars will take on the challenge to play these two classical roles with brand new characteristics under a totally different plot.

i was talking to my friend the other day....and he said this is to be an American made film, so it'd be LYF's first American film and all. I thought this was going to be a HK film or something like that....

Don't know if he was talking about this movie or not

he said that Fearless would be his last martial arts movie. not last in overall.

and in fact there are some projects on the run where it looks like there could be some fight scenes so i wouldn't be so sure about that statement eit

What I get is that he will no longer act in period films that involve martial arts. He said he's done enough of those.

Fearless was his last martial arts epic. So no more movies like Fearless or Hero. At any rate famous people say things like that a lot, how many times have bands like the Rolling Stones retired?

hahaha it's funny... Jet li and Jackie are getting so old and it's funny to see Jet Li playing Monkey king... kekeke... Wow though... It'll be interesting too!! I want to see jackie chan as the Monk Sandy... kekeke... It'll be funny to watch them... I wonder if it will be a funny movie or serious?? Jet Li and Jackie seems to be more serious, so I think it will be serious... I can't wait to watch this movie... Oh yea I think they should get Sammo Hung as Pig... He fits the role. Who else besides them will be acting in this Movie?

I'm interested to see this movie showing over in the U.S.
Wonder what the Americans think because they don't know about the background of the movie and it's not a series either. Hm....
But the girls are very pretty though.

It's going to be so interesting. I have waited for so long to watch a movie that will have Jet Li and Jackie Chan together.

Oh cmon, that story is too overused. And Jet Li as the monkey king? NO WAY.

Leave that to Dickey Cheng, he did it right, the first time, AND the second time.

I just check imdb. It's called "The Forbidden Kingdom" The release date is set for Apr-18-08. A lot of names on the "produced by" section are American names.

And btw, Liu Xiao Ling Tong beats Dicky Cheung any day

It was good =]

Jackie Chan had the best parts =] Haha. I'm a sucker for comedy though.

The fighting scenes were good. Jet Li didn't have as many lines as I thought he would have.

I love how the UK gets everything last. July 11th??? Got to be kidding me. I really hope it's good because I for one disliked "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". The plus side is: it's got Jackie Chan and Jet Li! ;) I watched the preview trailer just now, and they both speak English :O

Maybe they should stick with Canto+Mandarin+English (depending on the language abilities of the actors) Not sure about the storyline, but it's definitely got some big names, names that I definitely *want* to see!

p/s: Am so glad it wasn't about the monkey king.

I watched the movie the day it came out because I was so excited to see so many stars in one movie. But I was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the fighting scenes were awesome and it made me laugh. However, The storyline was a of bit dull. Maybe it was Jackie Chan and Jet Li's first collaboration, I was hoping for it to be better. I think they could have been in a movie with a better storyline. I felt like it was directed towards children rather than the adults. Overall, it was a good movie.

I hope no one bashes me for this. XD It's my opinion anyways.

I saw this Friday when it came out.
I'm a bit disappointed =(
Speaking English? Frankly, I'd much rather read English subtitles.. gives the story a little bit more meaning (I guess?)
Not a big fan of Jet Li, especially as the Monkey King.
The teen as the Seeker? Thought that was kinda weird...? lol
Idk, I'm not crazy for the movie, as I thought I would've been..

I fully enjoyed it. I think it was cause my most 2 favorite actresses were in it ^_____^V. I loved the fight scenes between Jackie and Jet.

The fight scenes were impressive, and it made me laugh. However, the story was a bit boring. Maybe it was Jackie Chan and Jet Li's first collaboration, I was hoping it would be better. I think it might have been a better film for the story.
