I've just downloaded My Sweet Seoul ep1 and the srt file from the torrent page. I've renamed them so they match and I've also downloaded vobsub but the subtitles aren't appearing. I tried playing it in media player and some other programs but nothing, vobsub isn't even appearing on my toolbar.
I know the problem is probably something very basic but this is my first time using softsubs so I don't really know what I'm doing.
Edited to add- It looks like my avi file is only 550KB but on the subtitle thread it says the srt file is timed for a 700KB avi, could this be the source of my problem?
Problems with softsub
media player... classic? or windows media player? We'd need more details about what codecs/players you tried or have on your system.
RE: Your edited comment. This is highly unlikely because srt files and their programs don't know or care what the video file is. ie, you can rename the srt filename to match any video and it will still show along with the video.

I agree with Riea, however vobsub should work with all video players. Also, you meant MB and not KB for the video file sizes.
One thing you can try is a video with its own softsub support. Such as GOMPlayer.
As for VobSub, how did you install it? With K-Lite codec pack? If so, you can go to Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack ... and somewhere in there there is a thing for vobsub settings. Set it to always show up whenever you play a video (you might have to search for it a little; it's a little checkbox in one of the setting tabs). Then, when you play the video, vobsub should pop up, and you can right-click on it and select to show subtitles (or if the subtitle is not listed, then you know it's not detecting the subs for some reason).
An easier option (though slightly more troublesome) might be to just uninstall all the codecs you have, restart your computer, and install the K-Lite Mega Codec pack.

I use BS Player. It's actually very easy to use with subtitles.
You can just load the movie and hit CTRL+S and find the subtitle file on your computer and it will load it. (Or if you have them as the same name then it will load automatically but I usually just leave the srt on my desktop and then load it when I load the movie)
I can't help otherwise. =/ Sorry
