Newbie question - recording Japanese TV and playing overseas

Post by funkyr » Sep 24th, '12, 20:49

Hi all,

I have newbie question.

I want my parents to record some Japanese programs from TV onto some sort of media (eg blu-ray, DVD or HDD/USB) and then post me the media so I can play the programs here in the UK.

What kind of hurdles are there? Ie is there some sort of copyright protection (eg copy once encoding) or 'Content Protection for Recordable Media' that I will have to be aware of when my parents buy a recording device in Japan and I the playing device in the UK?

Thanks!

A previous post has kind of answer your question. http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_106595.htm
