Ever see Empire Strikes Back? It's like Hoth out here!
I also saw some penguins move in next door with a polar bear for a real estate agent. It's really bad.

Here is a webcam that is close by my home. The stores are empty and the snow plowers are making money. But yeah..I made snow angels

And other Korean comedies:
Attack the Gas Station (first part), it's hilarious!
I'm a cyborg but that's OK (well, not exactly a comedy, but I had so much fun watching this)
The Good, The Bad, The Weird
She’s on Duty (Gong Yoo is, so...hot^^)

Gong Yoo was pretty cute in Coffee Prince ^_^
Yoon Eun Hye was cute with the short hair.

Mandatory. From 12 months to 36 (rare, from what I know). Men can serve in different units. It's like regular army. In case somebody is the only supporter of the family, religious beliefs, and students of some specialties, they don't have to serve. Most of the celebrities in the army have their radio programs^^
Sadly, this year (I mean 2009, and 2010) took so many actors to serve.

I think every man (women also, heck) should serve for some time in the military. Really.

Comedies:
My Little Bride ( I have weak spot for Kim Rae Won)
Save the Green Planet.

Are there military comedies? Either Japanese or Korean? I'd like to see one.
The last comedy with soldiers I saw was Pearl Harbor (with extremely talented, and extraterrestrial handsome Josh Hark...e sorry Hartnett^^), but it was unintended comedy, mehehe!

Yes, indeed, not bad.
But Bulykin, the sun on your banner represents Japan (yeah, yeah, hinomaru, everyone knows that)? And your blog has a bunch of articles on Korean dramas/actors. As a representative of Kdrama side here, I think something's not political correct.

(I'm joking of course, I don't know why people take me so seriously. Why so serious?)

Damn, I think we wrote about the same time. My military idol is Rex Kramer^^
Any Korean military comedy?

Hell, Perfect Couple (2007) is a great comedy!! I'm watching this in case I feel down. This and "She's on Duty" (I love Gong Yoo and Kim Sun Ah^^)
Image
Lee Dong Wook and Hyun Young make really perfect couple^^
That makes me watch it again (damn, after all day in Japanese, it would be easier to write in Japanese, keke).

my top korean comedy

1) ATTACK THE GAS STATION - about 4 guys who is robbing, vandalizing, trashing, and holding hostages at a simple gas station... for no reason , maybe just for fun.... very random and fun

2) TWO GUYS - about two guys who are involved in a some kind of conspiracy plotted by some mob, the movie is just simply funny, due to alot of irony, toilet humor, and simply alot of funny scenes

3) AACHI AND SHIPAK - its some grotesquely drawn cartoon, with some weird storyline where people in the future use resources from people's ****, and alot of corruption, poverty, gang members, and mutants involved the plot... the movie is hilarious, at least to someone who understands korean well enough, cause the translations will ruin it, cause there will be alot of material lost in translation due to inside jokes

Aachi and Shipak is not for everyone though. I laughed, but you know...
One of the best recent comedies is most definitely My Girlfriend Is An Agent. I simply loved Kang Ji Hwan in it, he was so hopelessly awkward sometimes

Here is a list of my favorite comedies:
  • Dasepo Naughty Girls
    Garoojigi
    Happy Killing
    My Girlfriend Is An Agent
My Wife is a Gangster 3
    Sex is Zero
Sex is Zero 2 These are so hilarious!

    The Perfect Couple
    Two Guys
Who Slept With Her [Sexy teacher]
Any other movies similar to these ones?

You shall not mention the movie with JJY in ominous presence of ME. Or I'm gonna screem "Kyaaaaaaaaaaa!!" and watch it again, forgetting about everything. Then I'm gonna find the one who distracted me agian. And after it, you can ask yourself, do you consider yourself lucky? Do ya, punk? (too much Callahan...)

Romantic Movies Recommendations

Post by Sty » Sep 23rd, '10, 14:13

I want a movie that is really romantic, warm and cute. I also would prefer movies with bohemian atmosphere in it like: Heaven's Postman; My love; The Naked Kitchen; Heavenly Forest and etc...

Thanks in advance

The Classic is nice, one of the best romantic movies in my opinion. Romantic Island and Heartbreak library are cute^^

In my honest opinion, 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant is one of the most silly movie I have ever seen, not even in a good funny way. It just makes no sense and was such a waste of my time...

Otherwise, watch any movie with Wonbin or Kim Nam Gil. Especially Guns&Talks (strange comedy action), No Regrets (special romance), Taegukgi (war movie), Mother, Miindo etc!

So far I have seen these movies:

3 Iron - boring silent movie. Too much silence
100 Days with Mr. Arrogant - boring 8)
Baby and I - Jang Geun Suk  I really liked this one and I laughed so hard I had to rewind some scenes.:tv:
Duelist - I recommend this one if you like historical drama. The visual effects were fantastic.
The Naked Kitchen (Kitchen) - Pretty good I like Shin Min Ah in all her roles. think because there was passion and romance along with a nice OST AND Joo Ji-hoon . Where is Joo Ji-hoon these days ?
Hello, Schoolgirl - I thought the older man and young girl was a bit disturbing.
Love Phobia - Sad but not interesting enough and should have been a drama because it seems that they rushed through scenes so some things were left out.
A Millionaire's First Love - Hyun Bin, need I say more :w000t:. Other than that, this movie was toast.
My Sassy Girl - Did not like it at all. Lead actress was just too sassy but I guess that is what it was about. I didn't like it but others did.
Sex is Zero - Watched as much as we could but living at home, gotta follow the rules. It was too "sexy".
Singles - Same as Sex is Zero. :salut:
Unstoppable Marriage - It was just something to watch but the mom was so so arrogant and over the top. It was just average.[/b]
Crazy Wait - It was ok not good or bad in my opinion. JGS character was very mature but there was no consistent storyline because they all were lead actors/actresses.
First Snow - Lee jun ki  I love his acting and he is one of my top fav's! This movie was good. I couldn't understand why the lead actress was very shy but to see what she had to go home to explained why :(. This movie was very good. I would recommend it.
Marine Boy - It was pretty good action movie about drug smuggling. I didn't like that part about the drugs so I wouldn't watch it again but it was still a good movie.
Doremifasolati - This was pretty good. JGS was great in this one and it didn't get boring or draggy. I didn't care for the OST in this one but the storyline was decent.
The Classic - THE BEST KOREAN MOVIE I HAVE SEEN SO FAR. From beginning to end there was good acting and nice storyline that continued throughout. It didn't get choppy or draggy. I didn't skip any scenes and the end was sad. I didn't cry but almost did. Reminded me of The Notebook but better.
Changing Partners - I am not a fan of Uhm Jung Hwa. I just don't care for her even in the Man Who Can't Get Married. When I saw her in the movie, it just got boring to me. I am a big fan of Han Chae Yeong and I did not like seeing her in this kind of role. It was all about couples having affairs, changing partners. I stopped watching after about 20-25minutes.
Sword With No Name - This movie started out pretty good but halfway through it seemed that it was rushing through scenes and some parts were too short to make sense. From the mid to the end it appeared to be rushed and so the ending was not as sentimental.
In Between Days - I watched some of it but not all because it's made like a documentary and I am not into those.

3 Iron is in the Top 10 of my favorite movies but I guess it's not everyone's cup of tea.
Duellist was pure crap. Sorry to all KDW fans.
First Snow... jeez, I almost forgot how cheezy and stupid that movie was.

Sword With No Name is partially based on real events, although poor Queen Min died in real life even more cruel death than in the movie. Not as romantic as here.

And to answer your question: Ju Jihun is in the military now. Until October 2011.

New movies to recommend?
Oki's Movie,
Barefoot Dream,
Iggi (Moss),
Ha Ha Ha,
Mother,
South Korea 1%,
Heartbreak Library
,
and tons of others.

Well you have to discuss to recommend. Recommend and discuss go hand in hand unless there are discussion threads already made for this that I am not aware of, if so then my bad :P

I'd discuss movies, but I won't recommend them. Kdrama is more based on similarities and patterns than movies. So, one can name 4-5 good kdrama rom-coms i.e, but with movies, it's tougher.
Also, some things are easier to recommend than others. If the person you're recommending to is a 14-year-old fangirl, anything cute with handsome guys will do. It's easier to list works for such a viewer.
But when more complicated works come into play, that don't have that clear of a target audience with clear preferences, things get very iffy. And then more factors come into play when recommending them.

Ecchan doesn't like Duelist or Private Eye. I loved them. So, she will not recommend them, but I would. On the other hand, I find movies like Oldboy or Moss, which everyone seems to like, very bad.
And if someone wanted to find out what's "good to watch", how the heck would they know when so many people think so many different things? I'd personally get a headache trying to figure it out.

So, I can't recommend movies, as they are an entirely different thing than series and more up to each individual taste and preferences. That is, I can't recommend them simply by naming them here.
I CAN recommend movies, but I'd have to write a small (like 5 pages) review on what the movie is about and who potentially could like it and why, but you can't just name some titles without explaining.
I can't say a movie is "crap" or say a movie is "awesome" unless it's bad or good enough for everyone to see it. I can roughly estimate if it's "masses-friendly" or for a specific audience, but that's about it.

P.S: No offence taken, Ecchan. No offence should be taken. Temptation of Wolves was among the biggest crap I've seen from cinema (Korean AND Global). I don't mind calling crap crap and sugar sugar.
Good actors sometimes make crap movies. Or crap actors make good movies (with help). Or sometimes, a good actor might suck at a specific work or a bad actor suddenly show promise. It's just a fact. ^^

This is why I'm also hesitant about recommending anything, movies or dramas alike. It's all matter of our own personal taste, experience and "the feeling", you know, like the cake in Proust's novel. Right timing and feeling for a movie/drama/whatever.

I know Ori didn't like Moss, keke... no worry...

Damn it, the cast was awesome, the atmosphere could have been awesome, but I just didn't give a damn about what would happen or what had happened. A bad script and "feel" ruined it. A shame, with such a cast.

The ending of Too Beautiful to Lie made all the difference? It wasn't a shocker in any way. Kind of what you expect to happen.

Btw, might as well start telling more people. Here's my review of the movie. Bit big, but if you have patience and actual interest. ^^

I just love Kim Haneul.
Movie was so-so, funny and light, exactly what you need to relax and have a nice laugh from time to time (beat him more, more!!! With a spoon!!)

That's it, that made me want to re-watch My Girlfriend is an Agent. I really don't know who is more hilarious here, she, or Jihwan. The police station scene cracks me up every time...

Size doesn't matter! As long as you have two of them!

Damn, I think we might watch it now too! Ahaha! Also, poor Dong Won gets beaten up enough in most of his works. So you can be happy about it. XD

Rewatched Too Beautiful To Lie. Don't ask me why, cause I have no bloody idea why I torture myself so. I'm sober and a bit depressed after finishing rewatching Gumiho: Tales of the Fox Child (sniff... sniff...), so maybe I wanted something totally on opposite side?

But I had my laughs, keke^^

Did you thoroughly enjoy my creep getting his pretty ass handed to him by his entire family and others?
I have to watch this again. Probably later today. I just feel so cheery and relaxed after watching this movie.

Maybe it's like videogames. You beat people up, you feel better. The creep gets pummeled, you feel better.

Btw, watched Detective K. It was ok. Interesting. Not really special. The humor wasn't always successful, the story was the same. Good cast, lovely visuals, lacking in substance.
And I also got a bit bugged by the "taking sides" thing. They basically present Christians as saints and the "old school" as the villains. Don't like movies who take religious sides.
Not to mention we have some very sudden and random fantasy elements. The movie does have some far-fetched things, but they overdid it a bit at some point. Crossed the line.

Going back to my creep now, I need to watch Duelist again. I neeeeed to!!! :goggle:

I have seen most of the classic movies mentioned like Sassy Girl, She's on Duty, Il Mare, 3 Iron, 7th Grade Civil Servant and 200 lb Beauty. But in light of what has happened in the last three days I recommend "Take Off", a great movie that won awards when it came out a few years ago and if you watch it you might get teary-eyed and happy for South Korea and the Winter Olympics. You will understand why they had a celebration special recently at the bottom of the ski-jump. Sometimes there is nothing better than a true story.

Pyeongchang in 2018!!!!

A few years ago i watched this kmovie, but i cant remember the title or the cast. Its a romantic movie about, well, 2 people, one lives in the past one in the present(the boy is in the present) and they communicate through letters or a radio (i cant remember, but it was kind of like in Il mare or Frequency). In the end she becomes a teacher and the boy as soon as they found out, that they live in different timelines, runs to her present self in the school.
Its not Il Mare. I cant even remember if its actually a good movie, but i have to watch it again. Does anybody know this movie?

Silverman, the film is called Ditto and it is a good movie. It stars Kim Ha Neul and Ha Ji Won.
