Guess many and much have been spoken, which I totally agree with. :-)
Still, I'm adding at least the following two movies to the favo-list:
- my tutor friend.
- innocent steps.

:: cheers ::

here are the movies that i have seen in the order that i see them:

1. my sassy girl = this is ok but i got a little bored in the beginning..

2. please teach me english = as boring as hell.. (forgive the language)

3. daddy long legs = the first time i watched this, i didnt quite understand it. i was challenged for not understanding it so i watched it again.. now this movie ties up with a moment to remember as my favourite k-film.

4. il mare = i like this for its subtletly and quite unique in all k-films that i've seen.

5. windstruck = i was disappointed in this film maybe becoz i expected too much.. with all that hype..

6. my little bride = it's nice but i think the girl is too young for marriage...

7. a moment to remember = definitely ties up with daddy long legs as my favourite k-film.

8. old boy = i dont like it one bit..

9. bichunmoo = quite engaging but am not really hooked.

10. wolf's temptation = maybe i would've liked it if the other guy doesnt turn up to be a brother.. i hate the idea of incest.

11. the classic = i was also a little bored until the dvd got stucked and didnt get to finish it. i decided to have it replaced but instead of picking the same title i chose scent of love instead coz as ive said, the classic is quite boring.. i havent seen scent of love yet.. so, did i make the right decision?

12. 100 days with mr. arrogant = a bit boring also..

13. my boyfriend is type b = boring..

so far, there are only 3 movies that i consider good. a moment to remember, daddy long legs and il mare.. guess im very hard to please huh... :roll

i'm suprised that your list doesn't include two of the highest grossing Korean films to date, "Chingoo" aka "Friend" , and "Shiri".... also if you keep up with the new movies coming out, "Crying Fist" and "A Bittersweet Life" are very good.

I agree My Sassy Girl was really good, but I'm so surprised none of you wuxia fans mentioned::

Bichunmoo

That's one of my all-time favorites, and got me into K-movies. I think it's much better than Musa.

i just saw "how to keep my love" and i thought that was the most complete korean movie ive ever seen plot wise, acting, humor, happy and sad moments... although its not as memorable b/c of the cast members not being son ye jin or jeon ji hyun or something lol it is a great movie that rivals any of the top movies

I don't have a chance to watch a lot of Korean Movies. Most of them are horror or ghost story so i didn't impressive that much. And I thought the story line is quite complicated to understand, even if my sassy girl. This was the first korean movie I watched but I didnt feel any attractive in it. So I may have to re-watch this movie again

But I have watched "My Little Bride" recently, I really like this story. It's funny and cute :roll ... I love comedy line *hahah* :P Another movie that I like is "She is on Duty" .. All comedy stories make me feel relax....lol

My All-Time Favourite Is The Classic.
I Liked The Story Line Which Talks About Fate And The Relation Of The Before Generation To The Next Generation.
And Of Coz, I Like Son Ye-Jin. Always So Pretty And Sweet-Looking.
And Also Most People's Favourite, My Sassy Girl. One Of The Best Ever.
I Hope The Upcoming Movie, April Snow Is Not A Disappointment.

yeah.. i hope the upcoming kmovies are better than the releases this year. is it just my imagination that kmovies are now sex and violence oriented? i hope they can bring back the old times where their movies are cute and more entertaining.

had anyone seen the movie "Love in Magic"? damn, no offense but that movie totally sucked bigtime, it is trying to entertain people by arousing them, such a poor made movie.

I'm surprise "100 days with Mr.Arrogant" isn't on the poll because it is as hilarious as My Sassy girl but doesn't cause the same impact on the audiences.

Am I the only one who had "My Tutor Friend" pop into my head? I watched it multiple times to appreciate the smart dialogue and jokes.

I liked it better than Sassy Girl by quite a lot.

how old r u? no offense but this movie was very entertaining... if ur a guy wtf r u talking about!? and if ur a girl then maybe ya sex oriented stuff just might not be ur thing but it was definitely not a crapfully made movie... lets just say this is a rated R movie and the ones u like r pg13 romantic movies like my sassy girl... nothing wrong with that, but the humor in love in magic was fresh, interesting, and very innovative in my mind

I enjoyed watching "Welcome to Dong Mak Gol" (movie came out recently in the last month or so, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475783/.
Genre: Comedy (although I found it sorrowful to watch)
You can compare "JSA" to "Welcome to Dong Mak Gol," it is mainly about brotherhood.

Basically, a synopsis would be that its based on the time period of the Korean Civil war between Bukchoson and Namhan. A group of soldiers from the North, and the South encounter a village totally unaware of the war going on and...you can probably guess what happens.

i'd rather watch hardcore porn than watch this thing. but i would have to agree that there are scenes that are very funny.
nikeg wrote:if ur a guy wtf r u talking about!?
it's nikeg who's talking ill. not all men like what movies nikeg like and not all women like pg13 romantic movies. don't stereotype everyone.

and since someone is not agreeing with me, i would not continue making such comments regarding "Lova and Magic".

so wut ur saying is not all men like sexually oriented jokes?? u must not like sex is zero then... i didnt really like it b/c of the story but the humor was just amazing... maybe it was wrong to attack u but coming from a college guy... ur one of a kind... very unique taste in movies... as for stereotyping i wasnt stereotyping women... that was more just pointed toward you since it seemed u didnt like the rated R humor in Love and Magic. didnt mean to make it sound like stereotyping...

and why stop talking about the movie?? debate is good... so why did you think it was so boring? u alredy pointed out u didnt like the Rated R humor... is that the only reason?

Hmmm, since I had to pick only one, I chose Il Mare. To me, it's the ultimate romantic movie (note that I said romantic, not romantic comedy, that one is a toss up between My Sassy Girl and Too Beautiful to Lie). Tho, I'm not much for tearjerkers, I gotta give thumbs up to A Moment to Remember, which is one heck of a movie. Christmas in August is good too, if it weren't for it's sad ending, it may have been higher on my list of favs.

Other mentionables not mentioned (I think, didn't read all 8 pages):

Calla
Failan

ye, "the classic" was a great movie, you should try watching k-movies more. i think they are awesome. that's why hollywood is ripping them off one by one.

any other suggestions, besides the classic, to help start me off?

btw, i was wondering where the quote in your signature is from. it's very clever, i like it a lot.

Definately "Old Boy" is my favorite so far. Exceptional cinematography with well wrought plot and fantastic acting from the lead actor Choi Min Shik.

"Save the Green Planet" is kind of a cult classic that defies conventional movie making and it also has many hillarious scenes too. It mixes so many genres but never loses its focus. However overall I still prefer "Old Boy".

ahhh I had forgotten about Save the Green Planet when I posted, that is suuuch an awesome movie, made me laugh so much in the beginning when they try to kidnap the man, and again more people should watch Old boy it's a classic (though it's not really old enough) you should watch Old Boy before they release the remake next year (yes it got remade in america :roll)

If I had to recommend 2 korean movies it would be them two.

sure, i can recommend some k-movies that i liked. i can even upload them if you want. here's my favorites:

"He Was Cool" - Song Seung Hun, Jung Da Bin
"Once Upon a Time in Highschool" - Kwon Sang woo
"Il Mare" - Jeon Ji-hyun
"A Moment To Remember" - Son Ye Jin
"My Tutor Friend" - Kim Ha Neul, Kwon Sang Woo
"Ditto" - Kim Ha Neul
"Too Beautiful to Lie" - Kim Ha Neul, Kang Dong Won
"Windstruck" - Jeon Ji-hyun, Jang Hyuk
"Crazy First Love" - Cha Tae-hyun, Son Ye Jin
"...Ing" - Im Soo Jung, Kim Rae Won
"Lover's Concerto" - Son Ye Jin, Cha Tae-hyun, Lee Eun Joo
"Love, So Divine" - Kwon Sang Woo, Ha Ji Won

this is all i can think of right now, i still have many favorites that i've forgotten since i've been into k-dramas for some time now.

the only movie i saw was Sassy Girl and a Moment to remember. Since a moment to remember isnt one of the choices, i picked sassy girl. I want to watch The Classic, but no one is seeding, so i Dled the ost instead and it's pretty good. Son yeh Jin looks sooo pretty in the movie --- makes me wanna see it now!

I'm not sure if anyone put this but my favorite is 3-Iron. It's Bin-Jip in Korean. I loved it! It isn't anything like My Sassy Girl (which I've only seen part of) but I would give it a try. The two mains don't talk (even though they can).

It's the same director of the movie Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring. I loved it as well.

Windstruck. The music is awesome. As for the movie, I cried buckets (thanks to the music too), yet the ending is not that sad. I like Windstruck better than Il Mare, My Sassy Girl, A Moment to Remember, all good movies. But the music from Windstruck beat them all.

I've seen My Sassy Girl, My Wife is a Gangster 1 & 2, Il Mare. So of the options above, I picked My Sassy Girl to be my favorite.

I've also seen Volcano High and Windstruck. I think these two are pretty good as well

Is The Classic sadder than Windstruck? I haven't watched the Classic but I thought I crred more at Windstruck than at a funeral. The music at Windstruck is awesome.

I've seen all the movies on the poll except for Guns and Talk. many good movies have been made, but none of them can beat MSG. although there are some other movies that are really good. Oldboy is definitely a good movie. it's not the type of movie you'd view with your family, unless the family is really really open minded. I'd watch anything Kim Ki Duk has his hands on, he's directed and written so many great movies! there's a lot of good movies out there, I'll list a few that I really like.

Wanee and Junah
Pisces
Failan
S Diary
Oseam (really good K-animation)
Marrying the Mafia
Madeleine
Raging Years
Love in Magic
Last Present
Joint Security Area
Jakarta
If the Sun Rises in the West
Ghost House
Ditto
Can't Live Without Robbery
Calla
Bungee Jumping of Their Own
A Bittersweet Life
A Moment to Remember
Addicted (Jungdok)

and many many more movies that I can't think of at the moment. :D

I just watched Guns and Talks and The Classic today. Loved em. I'm thinking I enjoyed Guns and Talks more, only because the ending was rather unpredictable compared to The Classic. But both of them get full stars from me!

I liked My Sassy Girl. I think Windstruck was pretty good, but the movie I really like right now was She's On Duty. It was violent, but the acting was good.

I'm not too surprised at the popularity of My Sassy Girl. However, it's not close to my favorite, although it holds some sentimental value for me.

I've seen many many Korean films, some many of you have ever heard of. But by far, I'm extremely shocked that no one has listed Seopyonje at all. It's one of my top favorites, at the very least top 5. It's the quintessential Korean film, one that almost singlehandedly revived Korean pansori (a traditional folk music/opera) from extinction. Cultural ramifications aside, it's a classic in every sense of the word.

And I've noticed that some people put "Old Boy". It's actually one word--Oldboy. It's up there for me as well.

JSA is also good, along with Welcome to Dongmakgol.
Gyopo wrote:You can compare "JSA" to "Welcome to Dong Mak Gol," it is mainly about brotherhood.
They're hardly comparable. JSA deals with the brotherhood and the tragic inability to reconcile in the end, while Dongmakgol is more about the violence and the war itself, the absurdity of it all. The brotherhood is a secondary result of the main theme.

Silmido is a great Korean film as well, mostly due to the fact that it's based on true events.

Others include Someone Special, Taegukgi, 2009 Lost Memories, The General's Son, Oasis, and Peppermint Candy.

But out of all of these, I'd recommend Seopyonje first and foremost. It's a must-see.
