Synopsis :
Based on legendary ‘wuxia’ author Louis Cha’s acclaimed novel, Legend of Arching Hero is the first installment of the Condor Trilogy and a re-make of TVB’s 1983 version that has intrigued countless fans for decades.

Set in the middle of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Mongolian invasion of China, the story begins with two young men, Yang Tie Xin and Guo Xiao Tian who are forced to flee for their lives when persecuted mercilessly by invading solders.
Heroes in their own rights as they fight bravely against the Jin solders, the two men establish a bond so deep with each other that they swear to maintain ties through their children’s marriage (if both are of different gender) or sworn sisterhood/brotherhood (if both are of same gender).

Filled with fascinating characters and spectacular pugilistic duel scenes, the rest of the story is an epic tale that chronicles the trials and tribulations of their sons Guo Jing, raised in Mongolia under Genghis Khan’s protection and Yang Kang, who grew as a prince in the Jin empire.
A must see for Louis Cha and wuxia fans, Legend of the Arching Hero is a visual knockout that follows Chronicles of the Heavenly Dragon, premiering 20 August 9pm on Channel U.

Shu Ling was good in this series. Some people want her to play XLN in the sequel...so other argue that it wouldn't make since Shu Ling was Yang Guo's mother....so they take back their suggestion....LoL.

What's SOD?

State of Divinity, its the name TVB gave to Xiao Ao Jiang Hu for some reason I keep refering to it as SOD although I should really use XAJH

hmm, I just bought that show. no english subs though, I don't mind uploading dvd rips if people want it though.

It is muuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccch better. The sword fight scenes are some of the coolest I've seen in a wuxia TV series and the cast did a pretty good job too. The production is great and costume is so much better. The story also didn't deviate too much from jin yong's book unlike the richie ren one

Ah all this talk of XAJH makes me want to go watch my chinese DVD again even though I can't understand a word they're saying oh well I know the story back to front anyway. After jem finishes the Legend of the Arching Hero I think XAJH is the last of my favourite JY story to not be english subbed in one version or another.

XAJH 2001 was okay, it wasn't that good in my opinion. The problem was that the soundtrack was really lacking. Good music draws you into a show, bad music (or lack of, rather) makes the show worst. Anyways, if anyone wants this version, I have no problem ripping my DVDs without ENG subs. =\ Maybe someone else can fansub. =D

CCTV's XAJH has already been eng subbed, and apparently has been/will be broadcasting on the Asian American channel AZN. Its title's been changed to "Laughing in the Wind" and it's going to be released on DVD eventually, with subs.

I'm watching the first eps and I think it's the same thing that Live-eviL did once upon a time. They apparently stopped after 4 epsiodes or so, and the quality was... well... not really outstanding.

So it's nice to have it.

I think this series is good. I like their opening song and ending song.
I guess for me, I can't wait to watch this eps more. It's very interesting series.

Maybe I'm biased from the version I watched, but I'm totally in love with the old HK make of this story. Even with the less-than-perfect quality of the scenery and costumes, and cheesy special effects. The characters of Huang Rong and Yang Kang really shone in that make. I think this series is still worth watching, but the HK version stole my heart a long time ago

SOD / XAJH 2001 was on Singapore TV last year (2004), but without English sub

This series is really good, probably one of the best Jin-Yong's remakes out today. I grew up watching chinese wuxia back in the early 80s. Probably the smartest thing my parents did to make me interested in our chinese culture.

Watching tons of trashy remakes over the last 2 decades (we're tough critics), I have to admit this is the first one that's really caught our attention and passed muster. Acting is good, and the story was fleshed out well to the original novels.

Go grab it.

This is one of the must see dramas in my opinion. Start to finish, action packed, good story and great music to go with it. Enjoy.

I remember torrenting this back in 2005 I no longer have the files anymore. I can't seem to find them anywhere online. I would buy the series but its not avaible anywhere with or without senglish subs. Can someone please help me out?
