This is so true!!! The first time I saw it I would get teary eyed thinking about it. I can't hear the theme music without crying still and I usually don't cry that easy over dramas. That one is brilliant!

i've probably answered already but after seeing "thank you", that is my #1 SADDEST/HEART WRENCHING drama ever!

if you think you've seen it all (ie: autumn story, etc), try "thank you". this one will take your heart, break it into a million pieces, patched it up, and break it again so many times. the little girl in here is simply brilliant - therefore you won't stand a chance.

it will also keep you thinking about it weeks later. simply the best and saddest!

Not the saddest k-drama I've seen but in Wonderful Life there were some moments which really moved me and had me close to tears.

The part where Shin-Bi was at hospital undergoing a lumbar puncture (aka Spinal tap) and then at 1:16 when she asked her parents "Am I going to die?", then her mother asked "Do you know what dying means?". Shin-Bi's reply deeply touched me and is still the most emotionally draining scene I've seen in a k-drama.

Both Kim Jae-won and Kim Eugene aren't exactly the best actors Korea has to offer, but they acted exceedingly well for this particular sequence. They really portrayed the torment parents have to go through witnessing their child undergoing such an invasive procedure and the prospect of dying extremely well. The girl who played Shin-Bi is an amazing actress and it's a pity she hasn't been in more projects.

As for saddest overall drama, Autumn Tale.wins hands down.

Saddest? There are a lot of kdramas with tragic endings, but the ones that comes to mind when thinking of the word "saddest" or "most tragic" - "DaMo" and "What Happened in Bali" comes to mind.

"MiSa", "Winter Sonata", "Autumn's Tale", "Stairway to Heaven", and even "Ruler of Your Own World" all had sad endings, but in terms of most shocking unexpected sad endings, they don't compare to DaMo or WHIB~

ironically, Ha Ji Won starred in both of them........and another coincidence, tragic love triangle?

You really spoke my mind!! I am not a person who would sheed tears easyly but Whenever the questions comes "Which K-Drama made you shed tears the most?" Always WONDERFUL LIFE comes my in my mind, even though it is not thaat tragic!! But because from that scene(you mentioned above) on, my tears just came out without controlling so I had to stop the video for a while. The little jung da bin was doing an excellent job!!

But as for the most saddest drama, my choice would be
1. I am Sorry I love You
2. Damoand least
Stairway to Heaven (I know it is not the best, there better ones but because it was my first k-drama and made me addicted to k-dramas)

The Snow Queen. I'm still crying a day after I've finished it: I cry when I look at the pictures of the times Bo-Ra and Tae-Woong had together, I cry when I listen to the music, I cry when I read over the quotes, I cry just by thinking back on it. I can't believe a Kdrama is affecting me like this.

^ You'll probably have to buy them.

Stairway To Heaven definitely is a sad drama. I cried so much. The drama made me get better at Chinese because it was in Korean and I had to rely on the Chinese subs...^_^ I can't exactly remember Autumn Tale but I remember little bits, such as their childhood, a scene with the actual sister when they discover the truth and the scene where it was revealed how they were swapped. It was my first drama and I was probably 5 or 6 then and my parents were watching it. It seemed sad...

Oh, hands down, for me, it was "I'm Sorry I Love You"---cried for DAYS after that one.

But I disagree with those who wrote "Stairway to Heaven" ---it was sooo contrived, and the people in it behaved so stupidly that all they got out of me was an eyeroll and an exasperated sigh. And I cry at practically everything, so that was an accomplishment!!!

You guys pretty much mentioned all the sad Korean Drama already, but just wanna add one more that I just watch recently; I think Queen Seon Duk should be added on this category, the ending is just so tragic  . Bidam and Deokman love story is pretty much the Korean version of Romeo and Juliet :-( .

Mawang (The Devil).
The whole drama was sad, depressing and dark in depicting some passions. But the last episode was the worst.
Oh Seung Ha died.

For me the most tearing K--Dramas was:

1.Im Sorry I love You
I think misa has left the deepest impression from all. The story was really original. I cried in EVERY episode while watching it, especially at the end when he was kneeing in front of the house to thank his mother. Verry strong moments i will never forget.

2. Tree Of Heaven
As of tree of heaven it was really heart breaking but the story was kind of flat sometimes. It could be a much better storyline, the last impression about that one was OPAAAAAAAAAAAA~~~ They just overdid it a little bit but you still had not choice but to cry in that drama. Thank god it was not 16 episodes!!!! Otherwise I couldn't handle it emotionally.

3. Snow Queen

some of the newer dramas I cried a lot was :

4. East of Eden
it was not really dramatic the whole time but it had a lot of strong moments that made me cry a lot. It had a great story and great casting!!!! :thumright:

At the end i would like to mention the saddest Korean movies:
!) A moment to remember
I have never cried in any movie for almost the whole time!! The plot was so unexpected and after the turning point in the story happened, I couldn't help my self but to feel so

2) Windstruck
Very funny at the beginning but the other half was very very sad and the end was just heartbreaking again!!!

and i'm not sad ending person at all that y i keep avoiding watching sad ending dramas also 2. mowang or the devil by joo ji hun i found it sad also but the top autuomn in my heart i didn't watch stairwat of heaven and tree of heaven for that reason .3. snow queen and for the movies more sad than the sadness i nearly got a heart attack the problem in korean dramas they over dramatize the series more than japanese drama but still korean drama is more powerfull and full of emotiones but i think they trying to kill the audience by the tormenting us wz sad endings like that

Not much into sadness anymore, but I think I would say that 'I'm Sorry I Love You' is a sad tale. This was one role that showed the talent of Jisub very strongly. I don't think he has played anything since with such
power and emotion. It is time he made a light weight guy in any case. It was a role that will be hard for him to surpass.

I think those dramas that I didn't cry at all are quite few so I guess I will just list "real sad" dramas. :P

Dramas with a real sad story (=lots of crying):

1. A Love To Kill
2. I'm Sorry, I Love You
3. Magic
4. The Devil (Well only at the end but that's because only then you got to know the whole story.)

Hmm I was about to watch Stairway to Heaven at some point but somehow forgot it, now I must see it. *sucker for sad dramas* ^^'

Saddest Kdrama IMO, here it goes:

1. Iljimae - I had to stop watching it so many times because I was crying so much I got headache. (the music alone makes me want to cry real hard every time I hear it). Took me about 2 months to get over it and I'm still not over it totally.

2. A Love to Kill - very sad especially the ending. I couldn't watch anything sad for like 6 months. :(

3. Ja Myung Go - All the betrayal. They were sisters and the 1st queen was so full of hate trying to kill poor baby stabbing in heart! :(

4. Playful Kiss - Because it was a sad remake of ISWAK and Kim Hyun Joong got a sad role.

5. My Precious Child - She had to have a baby and the father wanted nothing to do with her at all. She was treated so cheap by him it took a while before I could anything with Ji Hyun Woo in it.

I'm Sorry, I Love You

I was crying so much I almost couldn't breathe. I couldn't watch any Korean drama for weeks after that.

!) A moment to remember
I have never cried in any movie for almost the whole time!! The plot was so unexpected and after the turning point in the story happened, I couldn't help my self but to feel so

2) Windstruck
Very funny at the beginning but the other half was very very sad and the end was just heartbreaking again!!!
ah, I found Windstruck so touching.

Another pretty sad film is one called 'Love Me Not', I think it was recently remade into a drama with Song Hye Kyo
