This looks like it's going to be amazing. Can't wait to see it....~~~ (I mean, with a title like "Witch Trial" it's gotta be either amazing, or terrible. Seeing that cast, it's going to be quite the former. Plus, theme song by Fukuyama? Yes, please.)

I watched this drama and I agree that it had a similar feeling to Liar Game. I thought the plot was tight and for something less than 40 minutes, the story flowed nicely and a lot seemed to happen in a short amount of time. But, it wasn't overwhelming. I think the characters are interesting and I look forward to more interaction between Toma and Ai's characters.

Yeah, the directing is so similar with LIAR GAME. So, I'm surprised to know the staff are totally different with LIAR GAME's staff, I thought it has at least the same director.

I enjoyed it alot!!! There's someone behind this Witch Trial, who observe everyone and everything from a dark place and I want to know who he is! He seem so evil^^

I'll definitely follow this drama weekly^^

Yeah, I got the LIAR GAME vibe, too, although, I also was thinking Death Note at the same time. I think I described it to my roommate as LIAR GAME, Death Note, and Law and Order all mixed together.

Anyway - can't wait to see where it goes... Definitely is interesting, though I'm also curious to see how this affects people's view of the new lay-judge system...

Oh yes! Now that I think about it, the show does seem like an odd mix of all three shows. It has a very unusual vibe and I really like it.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see who he really is in the drama. He does seem really evil, and I like his evil laugh, ke ke. I also thought he looked familiar from the other dramas and it turns out he was "Daimon" in Mei-chan No Shitsuji. I'm looking forward to the next episode!!

This was interesting, but I miss his Maou hair!

The curly curly perm look (lol) doesn't suit him as well I think.
I wonder when or if he will get the sexy hair in the promo image.

I agreeee!!! I was watching VOICE and thought, "...I like his straight hair.............." The curly look, for me, only looks nice on certain people.

The antagonist guy look so different from his character from Mei-chan's Butler, because in that show, he looked older and now, well... I guess he looks more his age.

I think this show is going well. I like the mystery-like drama and things unraveling ^_^

Thanks to Tomalicious for the hard subs! I'm all caught up to episode 3. Actually, I misread the time and realized after watching it that episode 4 will air next week on the 23rd. Drats, I would've waited before watching episode 3. And they ended on a major cliffhanger too, I swear they did that on purpose!

Anyway, there's not much discussion on this drama. I really like it so far. Like everyone said, reminds me a lot of Liar Game. Can't wait to see more.

Toma is so awesome! The way he said the Majo was Guilty that was the bomb and the way he decided to fight!! XD

The theme song is also amazing! I am a fan of Fukuyama so this is extra awesome! I listened to the whole song already and it's stuck in my head! XD

The damn preview! XD Stupid Cliffhanger!! XD

At first when I watched ep 1, I thought it was alright and that I wouldn't like it. I'd still follow it anyways because I wanted to see what happens.

However, after 6 eps, I am hooked. I really want to know what happens next.

I really like the acting for Kurokawa's character. For me, he steals the show.

I'm watching it and I'm loving it too. I saw the "twist" at the end of episode seven a mile away (I had some suspicions during episode one), but it was still an awesome twist. How many episodes is this drama? Nine? Ten? Twelve? It seems almost over. And, am I right in thinking that episode eight won't air until the 27th? :-(

12 episodes? I hope it doesn't get draggy, because so far it is the perfect pace. I wrote this is someone's livejournal earlier, but.. .

. I love all the twists and turns and the real human aspect of it all. I also called Kurokawa being Izumi's husband long before this week. There was just something off about the way he was so interested in her in episode one, and my suspension just grew. I suppose he thought that since they are married, he'd know how to get her to do as he wants - I'd sure he's been surprised a couple of times during this trail.

I wonder - will Izumi "go off the deep end" or do anything hasty to protect her husband? I'm assuming they're fairly happy. Though it's odd she never noticed anything unusual about him.

As for Kaori, slowly but surely the Witch has been sucking her in and brainwashing her to think her way. And, it's been made pretty clear that her jealously of Izumi and and Toru's friendship/bond twists her views a bit. She threw Izumi's flowers in the trash bin for goodness sake. I'm wondering what will happen next.

Japanese wikipedia page listed the broadcast date "April 25th to July 11th", so doesn't that mean 11 eps?

I really don't like Kaori... when will he break her up.... :glare: Although I do love the way Toru kisses her, coz it really shows that he cares and loves her alot.

I was sad that last week got skipped, but I enjoyed this newest episode (that aired on June 27th)

I can now say this with confidence:
Kaori has lost her darn mind! I would say it was her jealously driving her mad, but I also think she's been brain washed a bit. I wonder if she was always this insecure and jealous? To fake a kidnapping, to destroy another person's home to "test" your boyfriend's love is bad enough. But then, to try and murder him because he's becoming close to another woman?! That's just too much.

Watching the interactions between Izumi and Kurokawa was odd. He's doing all these things in front of her and to her, and yet. . . Kurokawa seems cool with it all. He's very breezy with her, to me. It would be interesting to see flashbacks of their married life before he started this job or before the trail.

Remember when she called him in an earlier episode, because she was scared and he basically blew her off? I thought that meant he was having an affair (this was before my suspicions were confirmed), but now it seems that that is just their marriage at the moment.

Just saw Ep9
So Haruka is the killer? I did have feeling that Haruka, the witch's daughter, is evil, somehow, since around Ep5.
Gosh, I really love Suzuki Ryohei's performance as Kurokawa! I watched this for Toma, but I come to love Suzuki Ryohei's acting more than Toma, instead! XD He really got a good, challenging role and he did it excellently!

He should get a role in LIAR GAME 2! XD

When it comes to Kaori
I'm sorry, but her jealously has clearly driven her insane. She let herself be manipulated into believing that there was an affair going on. She trashed someone's home. She faked her own kidnapping. She kept cutting the empty cutting board when Toru was on the phone. She hide Izumi's phone call from him. She spent hours writing 'Toru and Izumi' on her laptop. She stalked her boyfriend around town. And she basically asked him to over ever love her and to ignore anyone else. Oh yeah, then she tried to kill him and Izumi. Kaori doesn't need Toru's love - she needs a doctor. She's literally become obsessed with him and his friendship with Izumi. Kaori is scary.

Really? He was actually the only one that disappointed me out of an entire excellent cast (He's overacting to my personal taste...it made me a little sad cause I like him) ..idk...hope to turn my feelings about it around in the last episodes. (I'm at 8 now..so there's still time XD)

Loving this series heaps. It is not getting the attention it deserves by a mile. Great suspense and interesting twists. Anxious to see how it all ends!!

Wow, episode 10 is finale already? It must have aired already by now.
I have to wonder why they didn't go in-depth about the glasses-guy-lay-judge character or why they didn't try to threaten him?

I watched the last ep raw. I have to say, in the end I feel cheated :O Poor Toru, for him he thought he was doing the right thing and trying to convince everyone this lady is not guilty. To have her smile in his face, basically as if to mock him like, "thanks for believing in me but really I did it hahaha". Seriously that look. Poor Izumi too. In the beginning when Kurokawa was making all those comments about how "white-san was an great wife" and I thought he was immitating her husband's voice. To think he was the husband, I was so shocked, but at the same time all the things he did and the in depth knowledge was greater than everyone else

When I first started watching this drama, I thought it was alright. Then midway through, thought it was great. All the twists and turns, also you keep wondering who was really the killer. Also I agree with everyone elses idea. Kaori is crazy/scary. She needs help. I can't believe Toru actually thinks that it's forgiveable. He's got a crazy girlfriend who tried to kill him. I bet if Kaori was a man and Toru was a women, viewers would definately call this DV.

Just finished watching it, man, I totally didn't expect that! I sighed in relief when the verdict was announced. And then that happened, unbelievable! But they kept saying that Kyoko is covering for someone else. If she's proven innocent, won't the police try to investigate to find the real culprit anyway? So it's a lose-lose situation even if she did win. I would've liked to see an aftermath of Izumi. I feel sorry for her, she's the most timid one and for her to get such a bad ending after gathering her courage. For her as well, lose-lose situation.

I'm just surprised they totally left out the threatening/back story for Blue. Did I miss an episode or something?
Great, no more Majo Saiban.

I agree when it comes to Izumi.

She started out as such a timid housewife, who really didn't want to upset anyone. And thanks to her friendship with Toru, she found something in herself that she didn't know was there. It's sad that she had to learn that her husband was actually the one threatening her and their daughter. But, I think it ended well, because this show was not about happy endings - it was more about the truth of human nature and the fact that nothing is ever black and white. Plus, the fact that maybe you really can't trust what's put in front of you - you always have to question.

Sure, I'd love to know somethings:
What did Izumi do about her husband? What did Toru do afterward? The case is deemed closed, so he cannot change anything. And did Kaori get better? Because honestly, she always seemed a little off after the whole Izumi and Toru thing. I fear for him if he ever dumps Kaori. But, I think it's good the way it ended. It was about the trail, not the aftermath.

Now, for the guy that was going to be a lawyer - Blue, was that his name? I think they never
went after him, because they didn't need to. It seemed like they went after the easier ones first, and than Kurokawa sort of became obsessed with getting Toru to vote the way he wanted him to. And he was also maybe jealous and obsessed when it came to Izumi and her friendship with Toru, as well as her showing a backbone and a strong will. Plus, maybe Blue was just boring and average? Maybe he was middle class with excellent grades and a normal life? Can't really blackmail/bribe with that. Also, it may have been hard to bribe/blackmail a law student, as they are often very committed to upholding the law and looking at things clearly and fairly.

Although I don't think that it's possible but let's hope for an SP ... hmmm lots of things should be cleared really... I'm also curious about the judge (who's been bribed) plus of course the relationship between Izumi + Kurokawa ( waaa so curious about them)
also the victim's brother, if he's going to stay silent or not
Overall, a GREAT drama... really never felt that it's boring/meaningless even for a minute .. every event was perfectly established.. the pictures-effects and the OST were outstanding.. Toma did what his role needs, so I believe many other actors could do the same job too but I'm glad that he's been chosen^^ but when it comes to (Kato Ai ) Izumi & (Suzuki Ryohei) Kurokawa.. i think they can't be replaced easily ...

Izumi is probably going to have a strong reaction, because the reason of her fear does not exist anymore (before it was her daughter), it's now all about her 'husband's job in Dubai' XD

Kaori will probably get better, because she even called him from the hospital when she was sitting on her laptop ^^
Toru has allready forgave her because he really loves her after all

What a
sad
end !
Sad
for
Domperi Pink
and
Pink.
About the real culprit :
she's free. Forever.
Witch's daughter :
such a mad girl,
I knew that, yappari, I was
suspicious
when
she confessed just like that. Sad
for Mrs. White.
Sad for the ethics in general. A very pessimistic drama.
Back in context : it aired before the actual lay-judge system would take place in Japan. No surprises, controversial. If it is still in my country, it has to be in Japan.

Somehow landed on this drama's wiki and big blank stare :O from me. I didn't hear anything about Ikuta Toma's new drama. Like everybody here, this drama also gives me a Liar Game x Death Note x 12 Angry Men vibe. It's really interesting so far. Probably got low ratings because of low publicity. What other dramas came out at same time anyways? Maybe it overshadowed this.

I just finished ep7 today and I'm really hating the Kaori character. She doesn't even trust her own boyfriend and even goes as far as to stage a kidnapping. Eehh is she demented or what? I'm also having suspicions as to who is really pulling the strings. I'm suspecting the witch's daughter (acting too pure like she's innocent but really getting weird vibe from her).

Oh and I find the bad silver haired guy really cool. Love his hair. Not many can pull that kind of hair off. Ok continuing with the rest of episodes.
Edit: Finished the show and OMG I was partly right about the daughter. I knew she was part of the scheme the whole time.

Though I still have questions and confusion:

1. Who picked up Izumi's daughter in her school and why was her cellphone in the hotel and ended up in the Witch's daughter's hands?

2. Haha I was wondering about Blue-san too and his back story but I guess your explanations are good enough.

3. Feel so sad for Izumi. Really want to know what will she do after finding out her husband is the culprit?

4. Haruka, the Witch's daughter, sure is crazy like her momma. Twisted really twisted.

5. Oh and I totally hate Kaori, crazy maniac easily manipulated woman. She should go to a mental institution.

good drama, but bad ending

Post by mungkar_nahi » Apr 24th, '10, 19:08

the story line is good. i liked it very much  . with all those suspenses. really exiting.
but i feel very irritated :cussing: with the ending. just not fair for izumi. and even toru. how will he live the rest of his life with knowing the final truth. :cussing: damn.

and I'm really curious about what will happen next like will the police continue to investigate :glare: ?what will izumi do knowing the truth about his husband  ? and mainly how will toru react after knowing the truth of the truth
really need another sp episode :w000t: / movie / something to solve all the mystery that unsolved. :w000t:

I was also sooo suprised with the ending! didnt see it coming at all! she's a real witch after all eh ... I also hope they'll make an SP bcz... poor izumi :( but the ending did say the court found her innocent and that's that. They didnt have any clues on whodunnit anyways so it'd be hard to find the real culprit - or to prove it
it also reminded me of liar game - all the flashes and the stupid quizzes they added during the drama... i dont care about those stupid tshirts or keywords :s one episode was 36min, way shorter than your regular drama
though it was overall a very good drama! kept you curious until the very end!

I think it's because toru believed she was under the witch's spell and that's why he forgave her. But indeed if it would've been the opposite this would be DV... weird huh
