I came across this girl who happened to be with her mom. I started a conversation about how if they have been there before and branched to know them a little bit. They seemed like really cool people, but I was unsure of the approach on how to continue on getting to know her.

Interesting topic....well my answer to your question is; go ahead and talk to her, and you already did; so it's good. IF she's still in the age of high school, then ask her what school she goes to, then go to her school and see if she's already attached or not, then go from there. Just don't go to her school everyday, or she'll think you're a stalker.
