SWEET!

The Rain - Oran "Juice" Jones
CHORUS:
I saw you (and him) walking in the rain
You were holding hands and I'll never be the same.

Tossing and turning another sleepless night
The rain crashes against my window pane
Jumped into my car didn't drive too far
That moment I knew I would never be the same.

CHORUS

CHORUS

Now here you are begging to me
To give our love another try
Girl I love you and I always will
But darling right now I've got to say goodbye
'Cause

CHORUS

CHORUS

(I saw you)
Hey hey baby how ya doin' come on in here
(Walking in the rain)
Got some hot chocolate on the stove waiting for you
Listen first things first let me hang up the coat
(You were holding hands and I'll)
Yeah how was your day today
Did you miss me
(Never be the same)
You did? Yeah? I missed you too
I missed you so much I followed you today
(I saw you)
That's right now close your mouth
'Cause you cold busted
(Walking in the rain)
Now just sit down here, sit down here
I'm so upset with you I don't know what to do
(You were holding hands and I'll)
You know my first impulse was to run up on you
And do a Rambo
(Never be the same)
I was about to jam you and flat blast both of you
But I didn't wanna mess up this thirt-seven hundred dollar lynx coat
So instead I chilled -- That's right chilled
I called up the bank and took out every dime.
Than I cancelled all your credit cards...
I stuck you up for every piece of jewelery I ever bought you!
Don't go lookin' in that closet 'cause everything you came here with is
packed up and waiting for you in the guest room. What were you
thinking?
You don't mess with the Juice!
I gave you silk suits, blue diamonds and gucci handbags.
I gave you things you couldn't even pronounce!
But now I can't give you nothing but advice.
Cause you're still young, yeah, you're young.
And you're gonna find somebody like me one of these days . . .
Until then, you know what you gotta do?
You gotta get on outta here with that alley-cat-coat-wearing,
punch-bucket-shoe-wearing crumbcake I saw you with. Cause you
dismissed!
That's right, Silly rabbit, tricks are made for kids, don't you know
that. You without me is like corn flakes without the milk! This is my
world. You're just a squirrel trying to get a nut! Now get on outta
here. Scat!
Don't touch that coat...

Really, I don't need to understand any underlying reasoning.. Okay mate, let's take the example of the statement that we should base our actions on reason.. That's by definition impossible, since your actions are always ultimately irrational.. You either do X because of Y or you do X because (you want to).. You can always trace your actions back to irrational motives, can you not??

slowmoe wrote:yea she wanna debate me about objectivism...how can she....she didnt read any of rand books.....
Among the reasons I have never seriously studied Objectivism and feel no particular impulse to do so are:

1. All the serious philosophers who have studied it think it's dumb.. The odds that they are all wrong, and Ayn Rand is right, are slim to none.. It appears to me that Rand tacitly admits the strength of this argument by introducing conspiracy theories to defend against it..

2. I have never met an objectivist whose thinking was not riddled with the most elementary errors.. It could be, of course, that all of them misread objectivism, but I think the odds of that are also rather low..

Perhaps you are the one exception, but we will never know until you start to take on matters of substance concerning objectivism, will we??

Damn GInaaaaa! You'll have to do better than this...where to start?

No, an appeal to authority is not always fallacious, but where did Slowmoe imply it was? Perhaps, accusing YOU, and you alone, of this lazy fallacy is enough to be accused of "an error of elementary reasoning" and being of this "view", though? How about I make it clear: He is referring to your appeals to authority as worthless and not anybody else's.

You say you've cited "proper authorities". Where are they? You've only mentioned "serious philosophers" so far. Is that the extent of your citation? Are we take your word, as to what constitutes a "serious philosopher", or a "proper authority" even when you do get around (if you ever do) to providing some examples and defining these "authorities"?

The Argumentum ad Populum you try to support all of this with this is a schoolboy/girl error, or perhaps just an additional attempt to bolster your arbitrary "proper authorities"? Either way it is laughable, but to apply it a such an open ended field as Philosophy? Well that's high comedy fo sho!
Jscorpio wrote:Yeah.. So?? :P Anecdotal evidence is not entirely worthless.. If I were to do a double-blind study, or else go through and refute Rand point by point, it would be worth more, but it would also be far more work than the subject has shown itself to deserve..
Otay, it's not entirely worthless because YOU say so? On an anonymous, internet message board with no mean of independent verification? One doesn't need a "double-blind study" to realise what a truly pathetic effort that is. :P

Short and sweet, as promised.

Damn Willis! You know like the pupils of your eyes dilate and grow larger and larger when you see your girl Ayn Rand you're attracted to. Sorta like da larger and dilated pupils are seen as more attractive than smaller and contracted pupils. In other words bro, you like those who like you. Choo know wat wat I'm sayin?

Great acting? Not for Ryo/Souske whatever his name is. Homeboy's stiff as a damn doorknob fo reallio! Standing there looking like a damn frozen popsicle with his fruityass walking down da street. Is he competing with Gisele Bundchen or what? Takeru/Ruka/Michiru and Eri are good.

As for the show itself, I like it but ain't droolin' it like crazy fangirl Gina! Check the show out and form your own opinion. Peace!

there has been reports that there is a lot of chatting and trolling occurring in this thread.

please read the following:

some reasons why threads grow so large are because:

1. pictures - we welcome members to share their pictures. but posting VERY LARGE pictures make it difficult to read the forum. use THUMBNAILS (photobucket). or hide your pictures with the SPOILER tag.

2. quoting - members use the 'quote' button too often instead of the 'post reply' button. do you need to quote the last 20 responses? i think people can tell who you are responding to. this is a waste of space.

3. consecutive posts - posting three or four or five times in a row ONLY A FEW MINUTES APART. please use the EDIT button instead ... unless it was a day or two after your previous post.

4. chatting - members are posting very short responses and using the forum like an instant messenger program. do this 50 - 1000 times and the thread can grow very large.

if you really want to chat, try this:
Setting up a D-addicts Friend:
1. Click on the blue "PROFILE" button along the top header bar. This should take you to the "Home" tab of your account settings.
2. Click on the "Profile" tab (next to the "Home" tab) to edit your personal information. This information can be public (visible to everybody), private (visible to nobody), or visible only to "friends/buddies".
3. To select which level of privacy you want, first click on the "Profile Settings" link. In the next window that opens, choose the "Privacy" option to select and customize your profile settings.
4. You can customize your profile settings however you like, but if you want to keep your IM info private from everyone but those you choose, make sure to that the "Display my messengers references" setting has the "only friends" option selected.
5. When you've finished your selections, hit the "Submit" button to save the settings.
6. To add a person to your Friends list, click on the "Buddy list" tab and add the usernames of anybody on this site you'd like to share your hidden information with.
7. To add your IM info, go back to the "Profiles" tab and click on the "Messengers" link. Add whatever info you like, and remember to hit the "Submit" button to save all your changes.
PLEASE CREATE A NEW THREAD IF THE OLD ONE IS LOCKED. ENJOY YOURSELVES AND POST.
Use THUMBS UP/DOWN buttons to KEEP or DELETE posts.
If you see SPAM or ABUSE, use the REPORT button.

Dear Gina and Gary, er... I mean Willis,

So, another Densha Otoko thread? If Hass and Scorpio hadn't engaged in that repartee a few posts back I wouldn't have bothered to look. While that was entertaining, the majority of this thread is just annoying. Slomofo, you just have to ask or you're not gonna know. Playing Socrates and running around in circles wondering if she likes you just give some other fool a chance to cut in and take your girl. Meanwhile, you end up wandering the streets debating if she ever liked you until someone offers you up a hemlock cocktail. You can't rationalize a girl to death and expect to get anywhere. Lacking the confidence to approach her isn't going to make you any more attractive to her either.

Hurl, piss, whip it out (not really recommended), whatever, just do something and quit plaing on this thread like it's going to help you out if you aren't going to listen to people.

PS I believe it was Goethe who said, "Ayn Rand isn't sexy."

I was posting and missed the admonishment or I would have addressed it, so please forgive me the double post. *curtsies*
holic wrote:there has been reports that there is a lot of chatting and trolling occurring in this thread.
(*have been) Well it certainly wasn't slomofo since he started the thread and was engaging in it himself... I don't see the harm in this thread over a 200 page Yamapi-fest that's rife with excessively large pictures that, in most cases, could be reduced to links. This is by far more entertaining.

This had a bit more substance than the sandwich conversation.

Damn Gina! Your Last Friends epid 4’s out now get da hell out!

C’mon Moe! Be a man grow some hair on your chest for a day. Damn!
For real, tell Scary Mary that if you subtract all the determined components of free will, then all you have left are two words. The assertion of agency which exists independently of these components, must by definition be supernatural in nature.

Halfass,

First you assume the "determinist components". I am not allowing you this sleight of hand. If you claim "determinist components" then prove them. You can't just assume them and then ask me to disprove your assumption.
