Japanese SoTW (12/06/2009) - Yankee Bokou ni Kaeru

Post by mizune » Nov 23rd, '09, 13:55

Since there are a decent number of seeders for all the other contenders from the last poll, we're starting fresh with a completely new slate of contenders.

Somebody expressed some disappointment at the choices from the last poll and made suggestions for other possible contenders, however, most of those series are not eligible. I want to remind everybody that in order to be nominated, a series must have a volunteer to seed the series first. This is why I keep emphasizing the need for more volunteers. You can check which series have volunteers and are eligible for nomination by checking the JSoTW Volunteer Seeders Thread. Series without a volunteer are in red. Please make a post in that thread if you can help out.

The other reason why I did not select the series nominated is because there were a BOATLOAD of seeders for the series. Normally, we like to select series lacking seeds in order to give ppl a chance to download series that are more "difficult" to get because the lack of seeds. However, if there is some interest, I might make a poll or two with nominees that have seeds, just to have them "fight it out", or whatever... Let me know what you guys want to do....

Many thanks go out to those seeding the last JSoTW ( Dare Yori mo Mama wo Aisu ). Thank you for your support! :salut:

What is the Japanese Series of the Week (SoTW)? More Info Here
Due to the substantial number of torrents on this site, we implemented a "Series of the Week," where we could dedicate bandwidth and seeding efforts to a specific series. This helps in several ways:
1. People will know which series was voted and will be seeded, rather than just waiting and hoping for them to be seeded at some later date.
2. For those seeders who have DVD burners and have already burnt their collections to DVD/CD, the series of the week gives them an opportunity to dust off those archives and help seed their favorites.
3. Constantly re-circulates older torrents back into view, and focuses bandwidth and demand toward specific torrents, rather than having people request series across the board.
Remember, D-Addicts was started for the community, and being a part of the community means sharing. If you don't share, then everyone loses (refer to JEM's dropping of cdramas). Bittorrent and DA works much better if you share as others have shared with you.

======================================================================

If you are willing to seed any of the series in the poll, please post a reply here or in the JSoTW: Looking For Volunteer Seeders thread or PM anyone of the mods or admins. There are still several series which do not have volunteer seeders, so any help would be greatly appreciated! The more seeders we have, the more variety we will have in future JSoTW polls!

Reminder: You must have at least 10 posts to vote. Don't start spamming the forum, but this encourages you to get involved in some of those drama discussions!

I've never voted before and am not sure how this works. I'd like to vote for Top Sales. Is that it, or is there a radio button to click somewhere to register the vote? Thanks.

OK, my own question answered when I logged in, and the radio buttons appeared. Sorry to be slow figuring this out.

Yankee Bokou sounds like a GTO clone.

I can see why everyone is voting for yankee series >_> *cough* Takenouchi Yutaka *cough*...

While I'm not a fanboy, I do quite like his acting :)

My vote goes for it ;)

I voted for it because I have seen two of them already, and I didn't want to see one of them and that left the Yankee series. Sort of the process of elimination.

I'm almost tempted to vote for Yankee because gyzze always seems to sub dramas that appeal to me. I voted for Satorare though.

Hey Mizune, out of curiosity, do you ever vote?

gyzze didn't sub the series, kokomi did. gryzze has the much more important job of providing the RAWS so that we can sub the series. You wouldn't be seeing shows like Yankee or Real Clothes if gryzze d8idn't provide the RAWS but I hardly think gryzze woulf hsve enough time to sub all of the series he provides the RAWS for.

Wow...the vote is turning out a *lot* different than what I expected...
popoycanton wrote:Yankee Bokou sounds like a GTO clone.
They're virtually nothing alike. There is no slapstick humor in Yankee Bokou and the students aren't as easily swayed by their teacher as in GTO. The school and stories in Yankee Bokou are derived from an actual high school in Hokkaido that opened in the late 80s which specifically targeted trouble students around the country. As a result, the stories are much more realistic than the stuff that happened in GTO.

erm... no...
and i don't really download or watch these days either... :fear:

I for one am very against using the SoTW as a popularity poll, even once or twice. I am for keeping it as a way for unseeded (often older and/or less popular) series to get a rare chance at being seeded.

Keep doing such a great job! Please know that you ARE appreciated.

Why? Satorare and Utahime have been well seeded in the past and easy to get, and I think Aibu Saki is not a favorite with some now because of Buzzer Beat. I have got to admit that I want to see Top Sales but not as much as Yankee. So, to me it is not a surprise at all that the voting is going the way it is.

Voted for Yankee.

Please keep this a poll for series lacking seeding!
