Japanese SoTW (11/16/08) - News no Onna

Post by mizune » Nov 2nd, '08, 03:55

Since it's a little overdue, here's the latest batch of picks to vote from. And with my return, the return of an SP Pack selection as well. :)

What is the Japanese Series of the Week (SoTW)? More Info Here
Due to the substantial number of torrents on this site, we implemented a "Series of the Week," where we could dedicate bandwidth and seeding efforts to a specific series. This helps in several ways:
1. People will know which series was voted and will be seeded, rather than just waiting and hoping for them to be seeded at some later date.
2. For those seeders who have DVD burners and have already burnt their collections to DVD/CD, the series of the week gives them an opportunity to dust off those archives and help seed their favorites.
3. Constantly re-circulates older torrents back into view, and focuses bandwidth and demand toward specific torrents, rather than having people request series across the board.
Remember, D-Addicts was started for the community, and being a part of the community means sharing. If you don't share, then everyone loses (refer to JEM's dropping of cdramas). Bittorrent and DA works much better if you share as others have shared with you.

======================================================================

If you are willing to seed any of the series in the poll, please post a reply here or in the JSoTW: Looking For Volunteer Seeders thread or PM anyone of the mods or admins. There are still several series which do not have volunteer seeders, so any help would be greatly appreciated! The more seeders we have, the more variety we will have in future JSoTW polls!

Reminder: You must have at least 10 posts to vote. Don't start spamming the forum, but this encourages you to get involved in some of those drama discussions!

Without a doubt, the best of these is Kou Kou Kyoushi 1993. It gets my vote.

I am so pleased to be able to see this drama again. This time I will thankfully download.

Maybe in the future there will be a chance to see Story of One Century. I thought this was also a wonderful drama and I have not seen it for a long time. I truly enjoyed the three parts to this drama.

Any chance that the 3 dramas from last week will turn up again..soon? All 4 choices from last week's vote seemed interesting to me. This week not so much. Ah well, such is life. Until next week!

I checked before making this poll, and there were at least 2 seeders for each of the series that was on the poll previously, while the picks this week had 0 seeders. So, with some patience, you should be able to download any of those series.

That being said, there is always a chance of the choices from the last poll coming up again.

Remember, all nominees for the polls must be subbed in english. In this case, the files are hard subbed.

I voted for news no onna because I haven't seen it, but I highly recommend boku no aruku michi. It really deserves to win. Kusanagi Tsuyoshi does an amazing job with this role. Subtle and affecting.

The point of me voting for this drama even after I watched it before is for other ppl who might not have watched or even heard of it not only that but the other dramas don't seem to really interest me so yeah thats why it has my vote. Hell if they put Byakuyakou up for nomination every week I'd vote for it. Btw this version isn't the one i watched before, I think the one I've seen was 2003

I voted for "Kou Kou Kyoushi" because I loved the 2003 version a lot. And it would be wonderful to watch the older version. But this 1993 version isn't the original either. The first one was filmed in the 1970s. (I wasn't even born yet.)

Ok, I see your point, thanks for your answer.
For me, the JSoW is more an opportunity to get a drama hard to get or one I would never try otherwise. So I would vote more easily for an unknown drama that for one I am sure I would appreciate. (the latter, I'm sure I will watch it one day anyway ^^)

I vote for Koukou Kyoushi 1993.
I enjoyed a lot the 2003 version, so i'm really curious about the 1993 version.
Plus i read it has 33% rating, makes me want to watch it more.

I vote for Kou Kou Kyoushi 1993 for two reasons; First, this series made great social impact at that time. This is one of the most famous drama series in the first half of 90s. Second, more important than the first, I like Sachiko Sakurai.

I can honestly say there is a good series of choices this week. The kou kou kyoushi sounds good...but I already have seen the 2003 version, and am not much of a mood for it. Instead I chose the sp pack, because the special sounds good...and the drama with it sounds very interesting.

Whoops, I just noticed that the date for the poll ending is listed today when it should be NEXT Sunday. JSoTW polls run at for at least 2 weeks in order to give the current series a couple of weeks to distribute. Sorry, I miscounted the weeks.
BlaqNumbr9 wrote:I'd like to nominate Heaven Cannot Wait. That one is too good to let fade away.
Heaven Cannot Wait doesn't have a volunteer seeder listed, so I can't add it in good faith that it actually will be seeded....
BUT, if somebody were willing to seed it, we can add tothe next poll. Just post in this thread or PM me or InTr4nce if you'd like to volunteer. We welcome both seeders who are willing to volunteer permanently for future polls and anybody who is willing to help temporarily.

Is It Kami-sama mou Sukoshi Dake?

If it is, I can VSS that one during December, since I haven't decided for the second drama to VSS yet.

The poll ends tomorrow, but it looks like we have a winner.
My question to you folks is whether you guys would prefer to:
a. carry over the series that didn't win this time to the next poll or
b. start the poll with 4 new nominees that are in need of seeding.

Post your opinion here!

I think it would make sense if you always carry over dramas that get at least a certain percentage(like 15-20%?), the ones with very few votes aren't likely to ever win even if they are carried over multiple times.

I used to do that, but eventually the nominees who don't win either
1. build enough seeds on their own to not need the aid of a Series of the Week win for ppl to be able to download it or
2. ppl just get tired and stop paying attention/voting

For example, both Boku no Aruku Michi and Kou Kou Kyoushi, which had zero seeds when they were selected a couple weeks ago, now have a few seeds for most of the eps. Sure, it's not a huge swarm, but they are there if ppl want to see them now. Eventually, it got to the point of selectively rotating out series that had seeds with ones that didn't.

But in this case, since there were so many votes for the other nominees, I guess I was wondering if ppl wanted to run them again or not even if there were some seeds available.

it would be nice that the top 1 will be the the JSOTW and the 2nd top would be nominated also for the next JSOTW . Then the ones who voted for it the first time can have a chance of downloading the series.

Like me, I usually download the one's that interest me the most and then I usually check what other series makes it to the top and then download it as well if there are enough seeders.

As for the options, I would like to see at least 2 new ones in the Poll. This is because I noticed myself that I wasn't paying that much attention when the old series were carried over for the next poll and the next.... :P

I really like the idea of special packs although they usually don't seem to stand a chance against the other series... :-(
If there is a special pack again, I would be interested in Chibi Maruko-Chan
Chibi Maruko-chan [SP] (704x396 XviD)
Chibi Maruko-chan Part2 and SP(D-CX 704x396 2006.1... are both subbed :notworthy:

If there is a special pack again, I would be interested in Chibi Maruko-Chan
Chibi Maruko-chan [SP] (704x396 XviD)
Chibi Maruko-chan Part2 and SP(D-CX 704x396 2006.1... are both subbed :notworthy:
I'd like to do more SP packs as well, but unfortunately, there aren't many ppl signed up as volunteers for them (Chibi Maruko included)..:/

Anyhow, winner this poll is News no Onna!
As always, please try to keep Concerto seeded for as long as possible to help those still trying to complete the series.

New poll will be up in a tickor two...
Read the D-Addicts FAQ before asking questions.
No movies here, so please don't request. Check the Asian Movie Torrent Links.
