Japanese SoTW Poll - 10/02/05 - Denchi Ga Kireru Made

Post by jholic » Sep 20th, '05, 10:16

please note: thetenken seems to be on a summer vacation right now. i will try to take over in his absence. (i'll probably be liable to his expressions of displeasure. :lol )

much thanks to everyone for seeding the current JSoTW (Itsumo Futari De).

without further ado, i'll use thetenken's wording........

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU MAY BE LIABLE TO THETENKEN'S EXPRESSIONS OF DISPLEASURE.

Taking nominations for the next series of the week. Let me know what you want to add to the poll and I'll add it. From this point forward only series that have a volunteer seeder will be put up into the poll. People can nominate whatever they want, but the series won't become a poll option until there is a volunteer seeder...

PLEASE NOMINATE AND VOTE ONLY FOR THE DRAMAS OFF THE COMPLETED DRAMAS LIST:
http://www.d-addicts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3500
(06/14/2004: As of this date, the Series of the Week is now officially only Japanese dramas with English subtitles.)

Last time's runner-ups:

Beautiful Life - http://jdorama.com/drama.36.htm
Denchi Ga Kireru Made - http://jdorama.com/drama.847.htm

Others:
none - battle between these two (a surprise awaits next week)

Previous Japanese Series of the Week:
Oyaji, Otousan, Attic Cat, Koi ga Shitai x3 (Where is Love?), Strawberry on the Shortcake (S.O.S.), Cheap Love, Big Wing, Hotman, Sutaa no Koi, From the Heart, Love Generation, A Sleeping Forest, Story of One Century, Friends, Younger Men, Merry Christmas in Summer, Shota no Sushi, Koibumi/Love Letter, Waterboys, Aoi Tori (Bluebird), Meguri Ai, Konna Koi no Hanashi, One Million Stars Falling From the Sky, News no Onna, Mukodono/My Husband, Food Fight, Heaven's Coins/Hoshi no Kinka, Forbidden Love, My Little Chef, With Love, Shopping Hero, Stand Up!!, 101st Marriage Proposal, Seija no Koushin, Maria/Mariya, Asunaro Hakusho, Summer Snow, Pretty Girls, Trick 1/2/3 (JSoTM), Itsumo Futari De, Tokyo Wankei

What is a series of the week? More Info Here
Since there are now a substantial number of torrents on this site, we have implemented a "Series of the Week," where we could dedicate most of the bandwidth to a particular series during that week. This helps in a couple of ways:

1. People will know what series are available and have seeds, rather than just waiting and hoping for them to be seeded at some later date.

2. For those seeders who have DVD burners and have already burnt their collections to DVD/CD, then with the series of the week they know which series can be pulled off of DVD to help seed, minimizing troublesome multiple DVD loading.

3. Constantly re-circulates older torrents back into view, and focuses bandwidth and demand toward those specific torrents, rather than having people request series across the board.

Remember, D-Addicts was started for the community, and being a part of the community means sharing. If you don't share, then everyone loses (refer to JEM's dropping of Cdramas), and a good thing open to all may become a private party.

I take no responsibility for deleting poll entries if there are no seeds. No complaints, as this is a community effort. If the community doesn't want to share, then oh well...

While I'm at it, I figured, might as well do a banner for Tokyo Wankei.

Btw, I voted for Denchi. It was my first choice many months ago, but I sorta got carried away with the Tricks and Itsumo Futari de series :P . This time, it deserves to win.

Hey I have a suggestion for next week - no seeds and it's complete: Heaven Cannot Wait. No idea if it's good but it's got Kubozuka Yosuke in it. :) Anyone willing to seed or even watch it? If not, just a thought...

Something with Kubozuka Yosuke can't be entirely bad. At least we know his character and acting are going to be good.
Feel like watching Ping Pong all of a sudden. Or maybe Laundry (Koyuki!!!!). Or maybe Go (Shibasaki Kou!!!!).
Oh well, anyway I'm all for aoi_hana's suggestion. I love Kubozuka's offbeat acting.

Okay... that's a VERY good idea too... I've only seen Eri Fukatsu in Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi (btw, Kimura Takuya blew my mind in that one... light years away from his usually "positive" characters... and the themes that show delved into!). Love to see more of her, she was so touching in Sora Kara..., she was the only patch of light in an otherwise very bleak and dark and great and provocative show.
Oh, and I just saw Suekko Chonan Ane San Nin also has Koyuki...

i'd like to thank all of you for contributing to the banner(s). gryzze, Mikomi and groink. i know there must be a way for me to put them together in a slideshow animated GIF, but i'll have to figure that out.
Namae no nai Sora wrote:So next weeks voting is supposed to have a surprise?
your ideas for a surprise is much better than mine.

actually, after clearing these out, i'd like to give people a chance to get one of the old JSoTWs reseeded. jsotw has been running for quite some time, and i think it'd be nice to revisit an old jsotw once in a while.

the ones i've heard nominated the most:

HOTMAN
A SLEEPING FOREST (NEMURERU MORI)

i also know that when the following won jsotw, they were not available in high quality versions:

KOI GA SHITAI KOI GA SHITAI KOI GA SHITAI (WHERE IS LOVE?)
FRIENDS
YOUNGER MEN (TOSHISHITA NO OTOKO)

i'm thinking of having four older (and i mean really old) JSoTW re-battle it out, and give our new members one chance to get an older JSoTW. after this one, we'll go back to nominating four new ones.

what do you guys think?

Hey All,

I can't vote yet but would like to throw a title at you.

Sutaa no Koi

I have only been watching this stuff for the last 6 months and I'm hooked. I recently downloaded Sutaa no Koi (episode 1 only) and am hoping that it will be up for reconsideration in the future (I nearly busted my gut laughing). The torrents are from 2004 and dead as a doornail.

Pickle.

I guess you're right. I mixed those 2. Being with Aya Ueto, a sports story and based on a manga...

Anyway, I hope it's a surprise low in gigabytes. My ISP just called me. :fight:
I guess he doesn't like that I'm sharing: Kamisama mou sukoshi dake, ame to yume no ato ni, konchira hon ikegami-sho and a few others. :D
I'm having the same problem as Studio Oto: Bandwidth Limit Exceeded.

Hmm, I just realized if Denchi is finally going to win this time, I'd better clear off some disk space. My hard disk is getting full off all those 3-hour music show specials the networks are starting to air between seasons, and I have a few dramas I should finish seeding and write off to DVD as well. :blink (3.76 out of 166 Gb left free; that's just frightening)

Go Denchi! :lol

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually I have downloaded the RAWs and all available subtitles so far, but I haven't started watching yet.
I guess waiting is also part of the eventual enjoyment (or disappointment in some cases!!).

yes, most definitely. as yama mentioned, it doesn't matter if it's hard or soft-subbed. as long as it is eng-subbed.

No one in particular, but it's a common problem when the subbing of a series is finished that the RAWs are no longer available.
I'm asking since I don't remember a RAW+softsub series being the JSoTW :-)

i know there are a lot easier and even better solutions for making gifanimations but i like the gimp: its free and available on windows, linux and the mac

I already have Beautiful Life, and i have to say that this is a must watch !!! Not for waht you think, i admit the storyline is very well done and that KimuTaku fit very well too in this character.

You have to see this serie ( or just a part of it ) for something else : in this you can find one of the most strange guy i ever seen ( don't mistake me, i say strange because i don't always have the correct word in english so....). He's name is Nishikawa Takanori, he's the singer of a Jpop band called TM Revolution ( if you're a little in the anime world you should know them, they made countless music for the Gundam series ). I remember been astonished by him the first time i saw him because i was very ignorant of the japonese culture. After some little research ( i was very curious !!!) i discovered who this guy really was.
To be honest this is what i remember this drama ( because now i'm totally addicted to theirs songs )

How come I can't dl Itsumo Futari De? It said, "The connection was refused when attempting to contact 217.172.47.136:6969." What does that mean?

what do you guys think?
I think that would be a great idea considering the fact that we have a lot of new members I say we should bring a past JSoTW winner lets say Love Generation for example.
How do you like THEM apples??? :)

Hi, I've been watching Star no Koi. It's an easy love story and wacky friends at work.

Star no Koi.

I've been taking it off of usenet for the past two months (slow upload). It is by far my favourite so far aout of about 30 or so dramas (including Train Man).

I'd love to see a top ten list vote, just so I can find some of the best stuff out there.

Hmm, ok, so I browsed through the forum.
Got two questions:
1. Read this: (06/14/2004: As of this date, the Series of the Week is now officially only Japanese dramas with English subtitles.) Is this rule still applying???
2. Seeing from the completed drama list, I would like to nominate "Itazura na kiss" as hopefully one of the coming months sotw/m. But the problem is: files are Chinese subbed...

hehe, might be wishful thinking, but will you consider putting this as a nomination (if and when there are enough seeds/volunteers to do so and enough demands for it). Patiently waiting. :-)

Thank you in advance.

Many thanks goes out to everyone who helped volunteer seed this week's JSoTW. :)

For those of you who have completed, do stay on to help others complete their downloads just like how others helped you to complete before. Thank you!
