Hi :-) [edit: oops didn't realize this had become so long, sorry!] Well on the topic of language, I think I'm just too old and I don't have the time to learn another language, so Korean is out for me. :-( As for Japanese, (well I'm a native speaker so I'm not the best person to gauge things), I feel...

Konnichiwa. So where in Japan did you use to live? I'm Japanese and I used to live in Yokohama and Tokyo for a while but am now in NYC. Man, do I miss the Chinese food in Yokohama. I know that NY has a giant Chinatown (and Flushing) but I find that Chinese food in Yokohama tasted better. As for othe...

I agree with most posters before me that there is no biological reason to be against interracial dating. If there is a possible leg to stand upon, one could be against intercultural dating. Let's take extreme cases for example. Although I have nothing against the Amish, I doubt that I could ever las...

Takenouchi Yutaka's father was killed by organized crime (called 神狗 Shinku or Divine Dog, sounded like Shake in English to me). After he grows up he beceomes an undercover police officer to bring justice to those who killed his father. Working first as the driver to the daughter of the crime boss, h...

It looks good, except that I was really surprised when she asked to take care of Justice (the dog) on a rotation basis. That just seemed bizarre. So far I like this international cast, it seems there's a truly international criminal network going on involving the Japanese, Korean, and even some Chin...

Try Tiger & Dragon, You're Under Arrest, Gokusen (season 1 I believe), and Queen of Lunch if you're an Ito Misaki fan and want to see her in comedies.

[Discussion] Jikou Keisatsu

I just saw the first episode but I already like this show. I like the duo of Odagiri Joe and Asou Kumiko. The other characters in the police station are great as well (Toyohara Kousuke is great again). Plus the small gags scattered throughout the show. And finally the premise, of solving cases that ...

Dang I should have put up a 3rd option. Content/Premise.

Is there anyway to add that option in?

Choosing shows based on Actors or Directors

I'm not sure if this belongs in the actors and actresses sections, but anyway. With the huge amount of shows available to us and watching some of them over this holiday, I'm beginning to pay attention to not only the actors and actresses but also the directors and screenwriters. And now I'm more or ...

After watching Gokusen and some other stuff by Nakama Yukie, I'm wondering if I like Nakama Yukie more or Yamada Naoko more.

I know it's crass but the humor in season 1 is just too good.

Well I'm not sure I like this series or not yet, but I've only watched 1 episode so that's kinda normal. Having said that, if you are a purist then you probably won't like it since it will deviate from the original book (it has to because it will be only 11 episodes or so long). I feel like this ser...

Inoue Yousui is my favorite Japanese musician. On a rather timely note, if you are interested in exploring the various types of Japanese music, I suggest downloading and watching NHK's kouhaku utagassen. Most of the famous musicians should be there, divided between Red team (women) and White team (m...

Yes I'm watching this series as well. This drama feels like it's taking a different turn (I'm on ep 8 of 10) than from what I remember the point of the original short story and novel was about, my take is that the story is more about how intelligence is both overrated and underappreciated but I digr...

Tiger and Dragon is a great comedy series. I think you can appreciate it on a number of levels. First you get some good actors and actresses who are just pleasant to watch. Then you can just enjoy the story which usually involves some major turn-around. And finally if you know some Rakugo (tradition...

I saw the Trick series recently so I would like to vote for Keizoku (done by the same director). From what I understand Trick is more comedy, Keizoku is more serious, but both are basically solving mysteries and tricks.
