I tried this taiga after a long time not watching any. I think it suffers from the same strange moralism that all other recent taiga have. Why has the protagonist these out of place modern, western values? And why is a historical character famous for being a political leader such a pure moral beacon...

I think that guy did ok in Shinsengumi or as some noble. But having seen Sanada Taiheiki, I imagine Yukimura as some rock hard masculine guy. Not some feminized guy who looks 15 years younger than he is. Maybe he is a good actor, I don't know. But he projects the same demeanor as Sanada as he did in...

I miss watching quality taiga drama so much. Maybe my perspective is twisted as a non-Japanese person. I must be completely off-base from whatever target audience the producers ever imagine. Taiga drama used to be what Game of Thrones kind of is right now. And look how super popular GoT is. Now ever...
