Yes, the recording option is supposed to be activated by the provider on request. I got the password from a forum or some page about iHome. I believe the code is 1111 for all units.

TVPad's Niji app and myniji are both from the same provider, just one is an app made for TVPad and the other is made for PC.

I believe iHome is by the same company as nline, but is supposed to have better video playback performance. So it should work ok outside China as well, but it might vary from country to country like nline.

mrklaw, you can look at LocationFree, Slingbox, and Vulkano. Each has different models and different features depending on how many people can watch or if it comes with hard drive for recording.

JPTV24 is ok to use. If you use remote control, there is a button to order which will take you to the order page. Everything is automatic so as soon as you pay you will be able to access the channels you pay for.

I haven't had luck recording JPTV24 either, probably due to the p2p method of streaming. Wist you can watch as many channels simultaneously as you want. I don't know whether wist can be recorded by anything other than mixtreamer though, but I haven't tested wist recording much.

I prefer wist over jptv24. I know Zel_da prefers jptv24 over wist though. Personally, I feel the video quality is in this order: 1) JPTV24 HD Channels (during motion can get blocky) 2) Wist.tv 3) JPTV24 non-HD Channels I also don't think there is much difference in quality between jptv24 HD channels...
