So, Jaycee05 do you feel that a person will become a better human being through education? :P I really do hope that education has that kind of a transformative effect on people. (Rather than simply as a means to get a better job.) Anyway, I watched the last episode again. It really is a good series....

I agree with 1 koku = amount of rice necessary to feed 1 man for 1 year. But I don't think it was 1 ryo = 4 koku. I'm more inclined to go with 1 ryo = 1 koku. Easiest place I can think of for more info is from the opening narratiion of episode 5 of Komyo ga tsuji. Another place is here http://ja.wik...

I looked but I didn't find a thread for this great series, so I decided to start one. Anyway I believe that this show is one of the few shows in which analysis can really benefit people's enjoyment of the show. The basic format of the show is to tell a Rakugo story (a funny story from the Edo period...

There seems to be a ton of lawyer shows this season. And I don't get that. Japanese law courts are fundamentally boring since they do not have juries.

26 and 34 seem to be perfectly fine. That's a reasonable age difference. You should probably watch Younger Men (you can dl that right here).

I watched the first episode and it's pretty damn cruel. And, I can sort of see where this show is headed. But to summarize, Inagaki Goro is a comedy writer for a TV variety show and he realizes that he's losing his edge for comedy. Just then he meets Murakami Tomoko and realizes that she's perfect f...
