i've noticed that in the more recent dramas... the second leads are usually just annoying characters, not so much evil.

personally, i was not impressed overall with the quality of kdramas from 2006... daily dramas and historical dramas were generally pretty good... not many of them are subbed, though because they are much longer than the typical "mini-series" and i'm sure all that work is way too overwhelmi...
