Re: So.. What was the first drama you watched??

Mine was A Million Stars Falling from the Sky. I didn't know what a big star Kimutaku was but I really liked the dark nature of the story.

Re: What happened to Jdramacity?

This is so sad but I so appreciate all of your work, furransu. You've helped introduce and keep me connected to a culture and entertainment I love, and for that I am truly and deeply thankful.

I'm an African-American in Brooklyn, NY and I love j-dramas. I speak French, a little Spanish and I'm studying Arabic but can't speak Japanese so I cannot thank the d-addicts subbers enough for making it possible for me to watch these shows!

I have to agree with the other posters who said the mysteries in Season 2 weren't nearly as good as those in the first Season. And I didn't feel any chemistry between the leads; it felt like Fukuyama was just going through the motions. I do have two questions about the final mystery, in ep 11. Not s...

I really didn't like this drama. The patient stories were OK but I thought Yonekura's character was too over the top going out of her way to offend The Establishment. A lot of it just seemed like an excuse to put her into a miniskirt.

I've continued watching and thought the Erika Toda episode was pretty good (although pretty easy to figure out).

But I loved Ep 9 with Hirosue Ryoko! I didn't know she was so good at comedy and I thought they kept up the suspense for the mystery quite well.

I wouldn't want to discourage you from watching (esp. ep 2 since I'm a big Sakaguchi fan), and I'll finish watching the series, but so far it's underwhelming to me.

I've watched the first 4 eps and the only one I like is #2 with Sakaguchi because I felt the mystery was the most complex and the pacing was good. Usually in mysteries the story can take one of 2 approaches: who did it or why'd they do it. If it's revealed early on who did it I think the discovery o...

Can someone help me with the sequence of the series, SPs amd movies? I've watched seasons 1 and 2, have ep zero but haven't watched because I need subs, saw the movie and now I have two specials Alice in Liar Game and Liar Game Reborn. Which do I watch first? I'd hate to start watching something and...

So far I've only watched ep 1. I like the story and the male characters are good but I find the lead woman ridiculous. I don't know how much money Japanese detectives make but you never see anyone in the NYPD carrying an Hermes bag, and this woman is schlepping that huge bag to every crime scene. I ...

Overall I really liked this drama. The first ep was killer - Aoi Yu nailed it! Other eps were good but IMO just didn't measure up to the high bar set by the first. I loved the cinematagoraphy and totally agree with another posters' comment about how the cinematography reflected the lack of color in ...

I wanted to see this because I am a huge fan of Kanno-san but even she couldn't save this drama for me... I thought ARATA was great in Chase but I didn't buy him here as a romantic lead. He just seemed so fragile and overly emotionally. I wasn't happy that he and the Naoko character ended up togethe...

I agree this show was a big letdown. I found Oda's performance stilted and not very likeable.
I was also hoping it to build up to something more than the big-bad-American-business-corrupts-Japan plotline. Pharmaceutical company corruption has been in the headlines for years so maybe I'm just jaded.

I was confused about something in ep 9 and wonder if anyone here can clarify... When they're about to do the fireworks, Kuni says "I mean, you looked so sad being in second place." and Haruno looks at him kind of curiously then Kuni says "I'm always in first." I feel like there was a scene missing o...

I didn't love this series... To me it felt like a poor man's Galileo meets Hanchou. I didn't think the lead actress was very good; she only had like two or three facial expressions. I usually can't stand Yokoyama Yu (I don't think he was ready for the leading roles he's had) but I think he did a dec...

Thanks! So do those characters make sense with the case, or are they just random thoughts of hers? Sorry to keep asking but they weren't subtitled so I have no idea what they mean.

I got through the first 2 eps but I'm going to pass on the rest of this series. I definitely think it's a ripoff of Criminal Minds, but a very poor one. The writing is very contrived, the production very gimmicky and the acting is poor. Character development is weak, they're more caricatures than de...

I always look forward to a performance from Kitamura-san and he didn't disappoint with this series, especially in the last couple of eps. I found the rest of it pretty dull though, the Narita character was a little too goody two-shoes for me.

I'm American and I really appreciate the subtlety of love scenes/romance in Japanese dramas. I'm no prude but US tv has gotten way out of control with what they show us - semi nude, etc. I hope the Japanese continue to do things their own way and aren't unduly influenced by the US.
