Gou ~Himetachi no Sengoku~ [Eng Subs] (Ep 16-46) (Complete)

Postby Avallac'h » Tue Jun 21, 2011 8:40 am

Image
NHK's 50th Taiga Drama
Title: 江
Title (romaji): Gou
Tagline: 姫たちの戦国
Tagline (romaji): Himetachi no Sengoku

Subtitles transcribed from hardsubbed capture provided by bmwracer. Big thank to him.
And special tanks to yanie for the translation of travelogues and bmwracer for proofreading.
I use 720p RAWs from other source. But Liubeibei's subs always worked fine with it.
So, I think this subtitles will work with gryzze's RAWs as well.

I liked Liubeibei's subs. So if he will not return and bmwracer will keep providing his captures, then I will continue too.

Thanks for this, truly appreciated. Must admit that I got addicted the quality of the 720p RAWs.

NHK has no commercials or sponsor ad messages, because of this it should work fine no matter what RAW version.

Oh. I had almost forgotten to mention.
bmwracer's capture has no travelogue. :-(
So, if someone want to help to translate it, I can provide Japanese subtitles for it.

Yeah, the local broadcast deleted the travelogue... :(

Did you have any problems ripping the subs or synchronizing the subs with the video?

What program did you use to rip the subs? SubRip?

What program did you use to synchronize the subs?

Just curious.

I'll try my best to translate the travelogues! :salut: Can you please send me the Japanese subtitles for Ep16-21 all at once? Is it .ass format?

Liubeibei, if you read this, I hope it's okay with you, that we continue your project like this. Just want you to know, that we still love your subs/translation the best, and we'll always be waiting for your return.

My travelogue translation might not be as good as Liubeibei, I hope minna don't mind XD

I use VideoSubFinder + FineReader(for OCR) .
And I use DSRT for synchronizing.
Quality of your video is good. So, FineRader recognized the text almost without mistakes.

Yanie -- thanks for subbing the travelogues. I always find them fascinating, since they link what we just watched to actual history. Plus they give me ideas for my next trip -- I miss Japan! :D

Oh yes, and I do hope that Liubeibei reads your post -- he's a very fine translator and subber.

Thanks again -- looking forward to your subs!

I'm so grateful for the subs of episode 16! I can hardly wait for the following... Thank you!
My knowledge of japanese is so limited that, no matter how much I try to understand the RAW, I can only manage the very short dialogues.

Was wondering if you can put "+ travelogue" when you insert the travelogue subs. This way I can tell when the travelogue subs were inserted.

Thank you for picking up the ball. I can view hardsubbed episodes on TVJapan but they are very far behind in the episodes.
This series is interesting for its historical perspective, but I find the comic antics of Hideyoshi, Hatsu and Gou a bit much (Miyazawa Rie as Chacha is great here). In this aspect, This drama suffers in comparison to Atsuhime which had the feel of real history. This is a bit strange since the screenwriter is the same for both. Probably there are less historical records available for the Sengoku period so that more of the plot had to be invented to fill out the series for Gou.

Atsuhime was an original novel. The scriptwriter, Tabuchi Kumiko, adapted the novel and rewritten it to a TV drama script. For GOU, it is her original work. That's the difference :-)

Yes, enquiring minds want to know! I have tried very hard to get SubRip to work on Taiga dramas with no success whatsoever. Since Avallac'h said "transcribed" I'm guessing he heroically TYPED them by hand.

Avallac'h used another program, VideoSubFinder.

Yeah, I had a hard time getting SubRip's OCR to work correctly, so I gave up.

I am going on vacation for two weeks.
So there will be no subtitles next Monday.
Please don't worry, I am not going to drop the project.

Have a great vacation! :thumright:
If you need me to seed Ueno Juri-chan or Yonekura Ryoko-chan stuff, please PM me. :salut:

Thank you for continuing this! ^^

EDIT
Where can I download the raw files, that fit those subs? I don't want to download the 1280-files...

The 1280x720 raws are the only ones available.

The 704x396 files are available, but hardsubbed.

But before someone made hardsubs out of them a raw file must exist, doesn*t it?

Whomever hardsubbed the video probably scaled the video down to 704x396 during the hardsub process...

The episodes that I posted were hardsubbed by the TV station, but broadcast in SD: I cropped the video to 704x396.

So that means I have no other choice but to use the big files, right? *sighs*
