Bartender [Eng Subs] (Complete)

Postby yuizaki_libra » Wed Feb 09, 2011 3:04 pm

I tried watching the first episode of this and got interested because it talks about one of my passions in life: mixing things :lol. I had some free time these days so I thought I might as well do the subs. It's timed according to the 704x396 file uploaded on ourhour@livejournal by nomanymore. Many thanks to her as well as to furransu for providing the Japanese scripts. :salut:

If there's any mistake that you are dying to see corrected, please tell me =)

Update 02/10/2011: added the re-timed sub for the 1280x720 version ^^.

Update 02/19/2011: Subs for ep 2 are up.

While surfing the net, I learned that there are people doing hardsubs for this series (for the 704x396 file). And I think they would be able to provide hardsubs pretty fast, which I'm unable to offer. So, would like to know if you guys still prefer me to post softsubs for HD raw, because being the efficiency-obsessed person that I am, I think it's quite a waste of energy to do something that someone else is also doing.

Let me know. Thanks.

Edit: Added 704x396 version, as some requested.

Update 02/28/2011: Ep 3 added for both versions. Thanks for all the replies ^^

Update 03/10/2011: Ep 4 added.

Update 04/06/2011: Ep 5 added.

Update 04/10/2011: Subs for ep 6 are up.

Update 04/19/2011: Subs for ep 7 are up. One more ep to go!

Update 04/23/2011: And the series is done. Thanks to all who have taken the time to leave comments here and in my lj. I really appreciate them ^^. Hope you enjoyed the series as much as I did.

The 704 subs are timed according to 740 RAWs posted at ourhour. If your download the 704 raw batch from d-addicts, the 1280 subs will sync.

The subs are few seconds out of time for the 1280 file. I am waiting for Nomanymore retimed version.

great subs! thanks for it! taking the 720p subs..
and just a lil input...
'Henshuuchou' is the right word for Chief Editor..
not 'Benshuuchou'

and Sake & Wine are different...
Sake is Sake
and Wine is Wine XD
it feels weird when hearing Aiba said 'Sake' and the translation is 'Wine'
hope it helps a little..

maybe you should learn a little more about japanese type of drinking..
there's Mizuwari, Sodawari (Sawa) and stuffs..i work at an izakaya..so i know a lil bit about that..

Thanks for pointing out. I have changed as you suggested.

As far as I'm concerned, in Japan people also use "sake" to refer to normal beverages and wine. That's why I tried to guess which one the characters were talking about and translated accordingly.

I'll try to learn about the drinks along the way. Thanks ^^

Thanks for the subtitles!
I read the manga and watched the anime now many years later I get to watch the drama :D

I've also noticed many alcoholic beverages refereed to as "sake"
Although I've no idea if wine is in a separate class or not...

I would guess if you know what the type of alchohol it is than say "wine" or "whisky"?
sake = alcohol
wine = type of alcohol

-my 2Cents

http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2037.html
'note that "sake" is also the general Japanese term for alcohol'

Not that I want to quibble with someone who works at an Izakaya... especially when I don't drink alcohol... by choice, not age ;P

Thank you for ep02!

Not entirely what to say... however, I think it has something to do with whether the other group wants to be part of the d-addicts community and announce their release here.

Personally, I like having a centralized community rather being forced to search for every release additionally I find having to apply for a myriad of accounts to download sites (live journal etc) rather frustrating... LOL for google-cache

More importantly is quality and "who was first" (which seems pretty important here at d-addicts).

I hope you decide it's worth your time to continue but that is up to you :D

Oh and I've always preferred softsubs

Thank you for subbing episode 2.

I like your softsubs for 1280x720.

If someone else make hardsubbed releases, it is okay for me, I hope they distributed it well. Some fansub groups are very restricted and it is difficult to get there releases.

As many others have said, please continue to make softsubs, timed for both 704x396 and 1280x720 for those who prefers higher resolution.
There are some group(s) *cough* out there that makes it very hard to access their hardsubs with all their rules.

Please continue your softsub.
It's very hard for me to search for the web that has the hardsub.
And I'm not sure whether I would be qualified for them to get it.
So, please continue to sub this series.
And thanks again for your great job.

I'm not sure how to acquire the hardsubs, because when I checked the subber's site it seemed to me that you had to join their community and reach a certain number of posts before you receive downloading privileges. I prefer softsubs anyway, and I also prefer hd raws. So please keep posting subs! Thanks for all your hard work!

Yes, please keep on subbing this drama for three good reasons:

a) I really want to see it ;)

b) it's HD in 1280 res, very nice. :) Once you've gotten used to this high res, it's ahrd to go back ;))

b) the hardsubs are from Stormy, which means, you have to registrate at their forums or have to be choosen by the moderators or something like that before beeing able to get the subs. This is due to the abuse of their work on streaming sites. I don't think it'll stop this theft because there needs to be just one person with acces to the files in the forum, and all the safety measurements would be useless. So instead of stopping it, I think it'll rather punish everyone else.

So please, keep on subbing this drama, I think I'm not the only one hoping for you doing so. :)

Thanks in advantage :)

hi, yuizaki. i'd like to say thank you again for doing the eng soft sub for 'Bartender'. excellent sub. with regards to the hardsub that you saw after surfing the net, i've yet to find or see them. but if those belong to those fancy forum or membership site that requires credit card number....hmph......then people like us who are not that fortunate to own a credit will miss out the share of passion in great Japanese drama such as 'Bartender'. In short, we here would love to have you to continue the English soft sub for Bartender. we don't mind waiting and it is great that you are efficiency-obsessed. seriously, we learned a lot from the show. i for one never can appreciate cocktail start to get really curious about cocktails. just want to let you know, your effort and energy is not wasted. we really appreciate it and will cheer you on. it amazes us that there are such people like yourself willing to do the sub which can't be easy. really salute you. thank you so much. i tried taking japanese language class but i work 7 days a week and can't afford those classes cuz in total like 4 levels, each level 2 semester. that really kills me. no such fund nor time. so, truly. i appreciate what you do. thanks. :)

Please do continue subbing this. Softsubs (1) is better for many reasons.

(2) Stormyteam hardsubs require special access, of which many people do not have. I have since tried to apply to their membership 3 times but was rejected all 3 times, so.....

Oh God, not Stormy...

To join and be able to download their releases, you have to be an Arashi fan and submit an essay about it. They don't do this because of streaming sites, but because they are whiny drama queens (no pun intended) who love playing victim (they use streaming sites as an excuse to enable that).

yuizaki_libra, please do keep making your softsubs. Nobody is ever going to see Stormy's releases.

hardsubs and softsubs are different things
so if stormy makes softsubs too, that's different :( (then, that would be a waste of energy)

our softsub hope is you!! keep up the good work.. we're rooting for you!

Hi--
I'd love you to keep supplying the softsubs! For some reason, the private study group of my Japanese class has chosen Bartender to watch together outside of class, and being able to watch both Japanese and English softsubs would be really valuable. (Although I'm not sure if that'll happen, since I can only find a torrent for 1280x720 and there are no seeders...)

(EDIT: There are tons of seeders. My computer was having a little freakout. :goggle: )

If you see"beautiful life" in ep 3, it's supposed to be "beautiful lie". Sorry for the typo. Corrected it (thanks to earthcolors).

Efficiency wise it doesn't really matter. Its about the quality. I mean, most of the sub that is done are on low resolution and to see softsubs for HD raw are not many. I'm just hoping that TS would keep hanging on and subbing for the HD raw till the end...

Thank you for continuing to sub the series.

Your efforts are very much appreciated, especially against monopolozing groups (you guys know who).
