Postby Avallac'h » Wed Jan 26, 2011 5:33 am

Japanese subtitles from official DVDs.
http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Saka_no_Ue_no_Kumo
Subtiles in SUB+IDX format.
http://uploadmirrors.com/download/GUPFV ... n_Subs.rar
Unfortunately, I don't know how to recognize it into .SRT.

Note:
DVDRips from my batch have Japanese subtitles included.

Wow, thanks for this!

I had been thinking about trying my hand at translating this but I didn't want to time it myself. This would help a lot. Hopefully I'll find some time in the next 6 months to work on the first episode (they're so long...).

Upload subs for the next batch of episodes, too!

Hi!

Sorry to ask here, would be wonderful to get an answer.

Is there someone who would translate this series? I am a big Abe Hiroshi Fan and very interested into this Dorama!

Thanks for the answer! :)

I have added Japanese subtitles from second DVD-Box (episodes 6-9).
I still hope for the English subs.

Thanks for the next set of subs.

I'm busy studying through all 2000+ "common use kanji" right now. Maybe in a month I'll want a break and get to translating an episode or two. I mean, instead of spending 3 hours per day after work studying, I can use those 3 hours to translate.

The first challenge is trying to get these subs converted to srt or ass or whatever. Primarily to get the timing information out in a useable format so I can just write sentences and be done with it.

It's been so long since I had to convert DVD sub (idx) to a different format I've forgotten how...

@ Antioch:

you can use this:
http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi- ... dic.cgi?1C

and this:
http://ankisrs.net/

(the tatoeba plugin-in for it is very useful too.)

to help you study but you probably know about them already.

Yup! :)

They're pretty good. I've recently noticed that Jim Breen's dictionary now has some audio sentences - which he never used to have years and years ago when I first found the site.

Anyways, maybe I'll crank out the opening narration for ep 1 this weekend and whet your appetites. (Of course I just *know* that I'll spend most of my time fighting with the computer to convert SUB/IDX -> SRT and if I get that far then I'll waste more time messing with Aegis to make the subs... oh modern technology)

Another thing that you could do is install the rikaichan plugin with the relevant dictionaries in firefox and open up the srt file in it as well as the editor and when you mouse-over the Japanese text the meanings will come up.

Ugh. I just spent 40 minutes converting 2 minutes of subtitles from IDX/SUB to SRT.

I don't know if I want to do this any more. We need to find the damn Japanese srts - like the one that was muxed into the MKV for ep1. Because I really do NOT want to spend 30 hours converting subtitle formats per episode.

((90 minute episode length * 40 minutes) / 2 minutes ) / 60 minutes = 30 hours

*sigh*

I may do episode 1 since we have the Japanese srt for it (just demux it from the 1080p version of episode 1) but I can't guarantee any episodes after that. It just a complete waste of time.

Thanks for the Japanese subs Avallac'h! I actually wouldn't mind trying to sub this series either. I've lived in Ehime ken for a year and a half and worked in Matsuyama too, so I'm pretty familiar with Iyo-ben.

@Antioch: There's the Japanese subs you can demux from episode 2 aswell.

I've tried running the idx/sub file of ep 3 through subrip and it was taking forever so I ended up typing it out. The timing itself doesn't quiet fit the video also, so I had to edit that as I was going along. So far I've done 25 mins into ep 3.

So Anitoch if you're interested in maybe working together just give me a PM. My Japanese level isn't that high, so it'd take me a good while to translate, especially since they use a lot old school lingo.

Antioch, trec, are you still interested in subbing this drama? I'd love to help. I can't do it alone, but if we have a group of translators, I think we'd be able to manage the work.

However, I don't think this project can go on, unless we can find the Japanese subs in SRT. It takes forever to convert idx to srt. If only we can get the SRT subs :(

I can get the Korean soft subs for you though, less work for timing, will that help?

But still, Japanese SRT files can really speed things up... hm...

If it's not too much trouble, would it be possible to post the Japanese subtitles in idx.sub format for Episodes 10-13? Please... onegaishimasu.

Thanks for the upload...

... but, every time I try to download the .rar file it gives me a .rar.exe file instead

(which I can't open because I don't use Windows)

Is it possible to download the rar file from somewhere?

I also checked the batch torrent file which has subs included, but they must be embedded in the mkv files because they don't appear in the file listing.

It would be great to get hold of the Japanese subtitles for this series.
