Iryu 3 [Japanese Subs] (Complete)

Postby sarujin » Mon Oct 25, 2010 8:35 pm

Hi everyone!

Here are Japanese subs for Iryu 3!

Thank you to nuts for uploading the 704x396 raws! My computer is old, so it can't handle higher resolutions. Thus, I cannot time for the 1920x1080 files, and don't know whether the timing will work. Thank you for your understanding.

Below is a message from qop123, who graciously provided the source subs.

++++++++++++++++
These Japanese subs are extracted from the original broadcast data with a program called "Caption2Ass_mod1".

To display Japanese subs on Windows, East Asian Language needs to have been installed, and at the option of the player, a Japanese or Unicode font needs to be selected.

(If you are using DirectVobSub filter to display subs, when you play a video with a sub, a green arrow appears at the right bottom corner of Windows. You can configure options from here. The Lucida Sans Unicode font can display subs whether they are in Japanese, Korean, or Chinese, as long as the text encoding is in Unicode, and qop123 uses this Lucida Sans Unicode font, with the setting of Bold, 36.)

The text encoding is in UTF-8. If UTF-8 doesn't work, sometimes changing it to UTF-16 solves the problem.

These Japanese subs are free to use. You can use them to translate into another language, or can redistribute them in another place, or can do whatever you find useful, freely as you like.

As many as Japanese subs are uploaded as far as possible, but future Japanese subs are not guaranteed. This work might stop anytime, though as much as it is hoped that it won't.

The raw uncut Japanese subs are automatically uploaded at http://qop123.hostwebs.com/Japanese-Subtitles/ in about 5-10 minutes after the airing finishes.

This Japanese subs extraction is coordinated by qop123, and if you have any questions or reports, please feel free to send qop123 a PM.

Anyone interested in esubbing this series? I don't have time to do it alone, but can help out. I have experience subbing medical dramas (Dr. Koto).

What is esubbing? If a Girigiri release didn't come out I would have eventually taken these JSUBS and put them through Google translate, watched them and cleaned it up. I wasn't planning to do that until the end of the year though. I love Iryu so anything I can do to support the series and help more people discover it is worth it.

hi if you managed to get hold of the iryu 3 english subs posted by chaoturtle, please keep it for yourself and don't re-distribute it in any way.
the softsub was done by me and is only meant for viikii fansub group internal release, it's unproperly credited and full of errors.
thanks for the cooperation.

pls pm me for anything regarding the english softsubs, but I won't share the softsubs so don't bother asking, let this thread be the discussion of japanese subs.

Thanks for this since the Fansubbing Group for this series have dropped it, Japanese subs are next in line.

Click Spoiler for one alternative on how to use this sub if you dont know how to read and understand Japanese
Download the japanese subtitle, open the file on notepad and copy everything. Paste it in google translate and convert it to english. Its not really that much of a translation but you can get the idea on what they are talking about... eheheh
from original Japanese sub you can see --> between the time right? for example 00:00:00,404 --> 00:00:03,593. But after you translate Japanese sub it's only show 00:00:00,404 -> 00:00:03,593 in English sub so you need to modify this thing from -> to --> for every line to make sure the English sub work for you

I hope you understand my explanation :D

Or you can use subtitle software which are found on the net for free, as stated above, you need to put two dashes between time. --> and not -> which is usually the result of google translate. you can just change the first line and save the srt file, open it on your subtitle program and then if all goes well then you can save it again using the subtitle program. In this way, you can be sure of the format. but as stated above, you can just change all -> to -->, save it as .srt and voila. ^_^ V hope this can help.

This isn't working in either VLC or Windows Media Player for me. I have Japanese and Chinese (simple) IMEs installed, so the East Asian font sets should be available to any application. I've tinkered with UTF-8 and UTF-16 settings through VLC's advanced subtitles window and nothing changed. Just blocks, as if there is no font set available. I confirmed that the subtitles file is encoded as UTF-8. And after tinkering with WMP, when I was once able to see at least the Japanese subtitles properly (but not the sound/music symbols), I now only see gibberish. Setting it to "title default" does not fix the problem.

If ye haven't done this already:Try to open the srt files in notepad first before using the subs.. maybe that 'll work. Good luck.

I had already opened them in Notepad first to make sure the encoding was correct. In the end, I had to choose specifically the font used for VLC and alter that to Arial Unicode.
