first heard about "日本人の知らない日本語" while watching a book review program on International NHK in late 2009. Book 1 had been a best seller in Japan, one of the top 10 books. That is right, a manga-essay book on teaching Japanese to foreigners was a best selling book in Japan. In February of 2010, Book 2 became a best seller in the top 10 in the Kinokuniya, etc. listings. I highly recommend the books - you can get them by mail order via Kinokuniya NY, Amazon JP, etc. It was a surprise to find this appear as a drama. The student roles mostly follow the books quite well so far, as do the Nihongo topics, but the teacher role as zero connection with the books. Anyway, if you find this facinating, like I do, I recommend the book versions, which go into far more detail on the Nihongo topics. Thanks for uploading this torrent without subtitles.

There is a Kinokuniya here in Downtown Los Angeles.

Is this book a JP - ENG type of book? Or is it strictly Kanji-furigana style?

I'm really interested, and the books aren't really that expensive.

The books are all in Japanese.
As far as furigana goes, I pulled out my copies to check, and most of the kanji in the manga sections have it (except when stuff is hand written on the sides and such.) But there are also a number of essays which have no furigana what-so-ever. So the books definitely require at least an intermediate Japanese proficiency. But they are both entertaining and informative, I learned a lot of interesting things I never knew, so if you are studying they are a good investment.
Watching the first episode, I am of the opinion that this isn't going to be nearly as good as a drama. It really is sort of a strange choice.
