Top Sales [Eng Subs] (Complete)

Postby AnimeDad » Mon Dec 15, 2008 12:31 am

English subs for Top Sales http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Top_Sales

These subs are not a direct translation from the Japanese audio, but have been "translated" from Engrish subs ripped from a Chinese bootleg DVD. The translation is not perfect but should be good enough to enjoy the series.

I don't have the raws unfortunately, but according to bmwracer these subs sync fine with the raws that were previously available. If you want the raws, please post a seed request and hopefully someone will oblige.

Thanks to:
marspeach for supplying/trading the DVD.
bmwracer for checking the subs and the sync.
Sadacori for help with some of the Japanese :)
junior pansy for checking the subs and syncing, and doing episode 7 & 8.

Series complete! Thanks for all the help & support!

Please let me know if there's any mistakes/problems etc.

What program are you using?

EDIT: I just realized that this drama has various episodes in different aspect ratios... And incomplete for either...

Goofy. :scratch:

Unfortunately I don't have raws of any description, only a copy of a Chinese bootleg DVD, so I can't even check if the subs are syncing properly :(

Try opening the sub in Notepad, and look for this line:

18
00:0.2:11,431 --> 00:02:12,232
Yes

and change it to

18
00:0.2:11,441 --> 00:02:12,232
Yes

Save it and see if it makes a difference.

BTW i'm about 50% through Episode 3.

I see the problem... It should be:

00:02:11,431 --> 00:02:12,232 ---NOT--- 00:0.2:11,431 --> 00:02:12,232

There should be no decimal point in the start time number...

Nice catch beem! My monitor's resolution is so high that I couldn't see that decimal point clearly (it could be my eyes too :cry: )

Fixed and re-upped.

Same here.

I had to open the file in NoteTab (a Notepad spinoff) to notice the error. :lol

hey AnimeDad

There's a timing code right into 10:03 min of ep1 that needs to be removed...
Think it has something to do with that syntax error...

Will notify you if there need to be more changes...

Thanks

Yeah, there needs to be a blank line separating subtitles 125 and 126...

From this:
125
00:10:02,802 --> 00:10:05,538
And working hard.
126
00:10:05,538 --> 00:10:06,596
That's right!

To this:
125
00:10:02,802 --> 00:10:05,538
And working hard.

126
00:10:05,538 --> 00:10:06,596
That's right!

Ep. 3 subs are now up. Enjoy!

There were quite a few parts in this ep that were totally illegible in the Engrish version, so I had to rely on the closed captions from jdrama.cc to try and make sense of what was being said. I'm pretty sure what I put is wrong, but it shouldn't affect the story too much. Hopefully the next 2 episodes aren't like that because there's no closed captions available for them :-(

I hope to have another ep done before Christmas, but i'll be having 4 or 5 days off after that.

Just wanted to give my thanks to AnimeDad and all others involved in getting the subs out. I just happened to come on this thread while browsing and you can't tell how happy I was. I had given up all hopes of watching Top Sales since it was so many seasons back and no subs were coming out. But now here it is. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :salut:

I downloaded the lower-res version.

I don't know why there's this goofball mix of differnt video resolutions for this drama. :scratch:

First I want to say thanks for subbing this excellent series.

Just a few corrections to episode 4 I want to point out to you. It takes a bit of Japanese history to know as well.

At:
693
00:50:20,450 --> 00:50:23,587
Locker's case was exposed in February.

Instead of "Locker's" the case was the "Lockeed" or in Katakana ロッキード that happened in 1976.

(The Prime Minister was taking bribes in support of getting Lockheed Airplanes for Airlines, but this isn't too important).

694
00:50:23,587 --> 00:50:29,548
The Premier was arrested in June.

In Japan, the proper translation would be "Prime Minister" instead of Premier, as Premier is more associated with the leader of China. Eg the Premier of China.

(Technically speaking Tanaka was the Prime Minister until 1974, so either they are referencing Former Prime Minister or just a gafe in production dates.)

Thanks so much for the subs! I like the way Makino's career is being used as a way to show historical events in Japan. Looking forward to the other episodes!

I was going to mention that cause I loved her in Aoi Tori, but I'm not enough of a fangirl to know her name without looking it up and I'm just too darn lazy to do that at the moment :P

TMPGEnc should be able to handle it, but those particular episodes will have a different aspect ratio that the others... It'll be a little awkward to the viewer. :sweat:

There's a confusing part in there, neither myself or jp could work out what it was meant to be. If anyone has any suggestions, i'd like to hear them...

Thanks junior pansy for checking them :)
