I hope my translations are understandable. ^^
I'm not that much into colloquial English.

My translations tend to be very close to the original. Only in cases, where it would sound too weird in English, I changed it a bit. And there are very few cases, where I translated from the context, due to not fully understanding what has been said.

Please tell me, what you think about them, so that I can improve them. ^^

Ah, there is one thing I would like to add:
I wouldn't translate the title as the Japanese did. XD

I would translate it as: 'You aren't the criminal, are you?'
Makes a slightly different sense.

Thank you soooooo much for the subs ^^ I found this a very funny and interesting dorama ^^ And about the title:

I agree with you. "Aren't You a Criminal?" didn't sound like the perfect translation for "Kimi Hannin Janai yo ne?"

I also agree. That's how this show is a little bit different from the usual detective mystery drama - every week (I guess) Kaname Jun will have a crush on the criminal and want to disprove that she's the murderer. It's just too bad that while the TV station bothered to give an English translation, and they got it grammatically right and all, it's not the best one

I think the translations were good. It's not that I speak Japanese, but your translations made sense :) And your English ain't bad at all.
If there is something I'd like to change, that is its to it's and thats to that's + present tense with didn't LOL

tip: open srt in notepad, alt-e, r, enter its, hit tab, enter it's, click match case, then click find next. don't do replace all because sometimes its is the proper form when it's not a contraction but like talking about a dog or something, ex: "the dog was mad, its food bowl was empty." would look funny if it was contracted there because then the sentence would read " the dog was mad, it is food bowl was empty." either way tho, don't bug the editor about that, leave him be, he has enough on his plate, besides it's no trouble to fix on your own.

It's not like I don't know how to fix subs - I do everything except translating myself.

Neither did I complain or bug the subbers. niwa1985 wrote: "Please tell me, what you think about them, so that I can improve them. ^^" and I replied to that, giving comments about subs in general + what could be changed if anything. As I clearly said "If there is something I'd like to change --".

You could read more carefully before posting like that :roll

Thank you for letting me know this. I changed it for the second episode. ^^

Sorry that it took so long this time, but as you all may know, I'm doing this in my freetime (and for improving my Japanese) and my freetime is quite limited at the moment, due to university stuff and such.

I will finish the last few lines today or tommorow and will send them to furransu then.
Should be done by the weekend.

EDIT: Finished now! I send it to furransu already, but he's sleeping right now.

I have to give you guys a hoot for making it possible to watch this show, since it is an exceptionally funny thriller! The one piece of the puzzle for learning Japanese to really start to understand the culture of Japan, which I get half from watching these shows. Like with American TV, it is all dramatized and doesn't really give a true sense of what each area of Japan is like. I do get a taste, so thanks for making the subs for us shiranaino hito!

I wouldn't translate the title as the Japanese did. XD

I would translate it as: 'You aren't the criminal, are you?'
Makes a slightly different sense.

Just a notice:
It is possible, that this is not a translation.
"Kinen na Aneki" has an English "sub-title" in the opening, just below Japanese title saying "Dangerous Beauty". I do not think they were translating "aneki" to "beauty", but thats an English sub-title of the show.
The same was with "Moto Kare", where the sub-title in the title said "My ex Boyfriend", which is closer to the word-by-word translation...
However, I do not think, that these are only translations. I belive they wanted to add some sub-title in English...
But that is just my opinion...
