Ohsama no Resutoran (DVD Rips) [Eng Subs] (Complete)

Postby sanzaru » Thu Nov 09, 2006 3:59 am

Ohsama no Resutoran (King's Restaurant)

For a summary, visit these sites:
Drama Wiki: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Ohsama_no_resutoran
Jdorama: http://jdorama.com/drama.291.htm

Timed to DVD Rips provided by polecat1:
http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/torrents.php?search=ohsama+no+resutoran+eps&type=&sub=View+all&sort=

Subtitles Notes:
These English soft subs are timed to the above raw dvd rips posted by polecat1. The NGN subtitles which came with the previous tv-rip videos posted by ap were not synchronized with this (better quality) release by polecat1. Hence I decided to resynchronize them and did some minor editing as well along the way. My motivation behind doing this was to be able to understand the story myself. I thought others could benefit from this work as well so I offer them as is. If you notice any major mistake, please let me know. Enjoy and Bon cinoche! :-)

Subtitles (srt format):
The missing dialogue of ep4 has been translated by polecat1, as well as the ending theme song. Thanks polecat1! (Note: I realize that these subs are sometimes scarce, but I think that they will be useful to many of us who do not (yet) understand Japanese.) Thanks for waiting everyone.

sanzaru: thanks for doing this. i may need to merge this with the existing ohsama thread, but i'll leave it alone for now.

it would be nice for you to complete this series, but you may have your work cut out for you in the later eps which was missing a lot of dialogue. good luck to you.

Sure, I leave the merging at your discretion.

Now that you mention this, I just noticed the missing dialogue at the beginning of ep 4. I haven't checked how many episodes are like that. Anyway, I will stick to my original plan and synchronize whatever dialogue is available.

Thanks everyone for your words of support. They are truly welcomed and appreciated.

You're a star for doing this sanzaru, thanks a lot.
When we've got all the correctly timed subtitled scripts, does anyone think it'll be worth ripping the scenes with missing subtitles and then starting a thread in the fansubbers forum to try and get someone to translate these scenes?

Great job for subbing this amazing series.

Btw, can you upload your synchronized sub for ep 4? I know that it is missing the first 5 minutes, but I think it's still ok rather than the current sub. Thanks!

The resynchronization of the subs is now complete. Unfortunately, no one has volunteered yet to translate the first 4 minutes of episode 4 (You'll notice a warning to that effect at the beginning of this episode.)

Thanks everyone for your comments and I hope you enjoy these subs!

sanzaru: thanks again for your work on resynching these subs. are you sure only ep4 has missing dialogue? when i watched the series, there were several times when actors and actresses would speak several lines, and only a short subtitle would appear. i thought there was a lot 'lost in translation'.

in any case, i edited your title. you are more likely to receive some assistance if people know that the subs are 'near complete' than if it IS complete.

thanks again!

You are right that a the subs are sometimes a bit scarce, especially in the later episodes---and to that extent, aren't complete yet. However, the episode where comprehension might be affected the most is, obviously, the forth one. So, if anyone has a bit of time to work on this, episode 4 is the first priority. Once this episode is fixed, we'll be in a much better shape. Note: I translated the dialogue in French that was not translated in the previous subs (that is, as far as I could understand their broken, and sometimes quite funny, French)

Thanks for editing the title and let's hope someone volunteers.

sanzaru

I looked at ep 4 on my copy of Ohsama no Resutoran (King's Restaurant) and the following is the translation for the opening two and a half minutes of the episode:

“Timing is important in life and making omelettes”

Scene: in Nishimura’s office.

Ono: We want your help.

Ito: Please.

Ono: I’m sure you must feel the same way we do.
Sengoku will eventually take control.

Nishimura: I must admit that he’s getting carried away.

Ono: We should take measures while we can.

Scene: The gathering of the staff in the restaurant.

Tsutsui: Good morning everyone.
I would like to discuss the three things necessary for work.
First is the stomach…

Nishimura: The employees have something to say to you.

Tsutsui: What is it?

Nishimura: Kajihara!

Ono: This is difficult for me to say…
This isn’t my personal opinion, but everyones opinion…
Please keep that in mind.

Zen: Out with it

Ono: It concerns Sengoku.

Tsutsui: What about him?

Ono: Wada will give you the details

Ito: I wrote it down. Please take a look. (Puts up a hand written list)
I outlined our restaurant’s position of service.
The owner, Rokuro, is at the top.
Followed by the manager, Moritomo
Next is the food manager, Kajihara
Below him is me.
And below me is Sengoku.

Tsutsui: Sengoku, you’re way at the bottom. Is that all right with you?

Ono: Sengoku requested it.

Matsumoto: I wanted to start over.

Tsutsui: What about that?

Ito: You want me to explain?

Matsumoto: Is that a problem?

Ito: Position wise you are at the very bottom. Yet you seem to be interfering in everyone’s work.

Tsutsui: I don’t think so.

Ito: Everyone thinks so.

_________________________

Note: Since I can't remember all the character names I used the actors names to indicate who was speaking. Sorry is that's confusing.

Are these the subs you're working with? If not, and you think it might be usefull, let me know. It's been a while since I've watched the show, but I don't recall any gaps in the subtitles on my copy.

Geezer: I believe that these are the subs from the old tv-rip. What we need is (approximately) the preceding 4 minutes of dialogue. Thanks anyway for posting this.

Here are the first 2 minutes of the 4th episode.
Sorry - 1) no timing 2) the English is not my native language. - the check by native speaker is absolutely necessary 3) there are few places i didn't understand.

If you insist... ;)
and again - 1) check by a native speaker is absolutely necessary, 2) i couldn't get some phrases by ear. If only I had japanese subs!!

the first quote of the episode - it's "The timing is important in a man's life and in making omlette. Michelle Saragetta"

Anna sinzanmono kore ijou ________ mazui to omou n da.
This novice thinks he knows everything! It pisses me off!

And he also criticized Sizuka's dishes!

He said the taste is too strong... Am I right, Sizuka?

Maybe this time it was a little bit salty...

Come on, Sizuka! Believe in yourself! (i know the phrase sucks, who knows how to say it in english?)

Ma, tonikaku, kono mama ja Sengoku ni mise ____________
Anyway, we can't let Sengoku take over the restaurant!

Koko wa hitotsu minna de tikara wo awaseru janai ka?
Let's join against him!

Yarimasyou!
Yeah, let's do it!

Tyotto matte, nani sunno?
Wait a sec! What are you going to do?

Tatiagaru n desu yo!
We rebel!

Sengoku ni _________
?????

Yameyou yo. Houttokya ii jan?
Come on! Let's leave it as it is!

Iya, sou wa ikan!
No, we can't let it go on!

Yarimasyou!
Let's do it!

Kyouryoku site kureru ka?
You'll help us?

Hai!
Yes!

Ja, asita...
Well then... Tomorrow we'll....

Jinsei to omuretsu wa nite iru to dareka ga itta.
Somebody said that a man's life is like making an omelette -

Dotira mo taimingu ga daiji da
in both the timing is important.

Zanketsu suru koto wa utsukusii!
When it's not completely cooked it's beautiful,

Sikasi kono baai taimingu wa saiaku.
but in this case the timing is awful.

Mohaya karera wa atomodori wa dekinai no darou...
And maybe these people can never go back...

I translated the main song - more work for you, Sanzaru :roll :whistling:

Nagareteru machi de tachidomaru egao ga mitsukaranai
I stop in the middle of crowd that runs through the street. I don't see any smiling face.

Kizutsukanu you ni utsumuite ashibaya ni arukidasu
They all look down and just start walking faster as if they don't notice me.

Butsukatta kata kara iradachi wo haita
I heard the cursing of the man I've just collided with.

Dakedo furikaereba soko ni unadareta boku ga iru
But when I turned around I saw myself with my head drooping

Itsumo kono mama ja yume sae mo nigete yuku
If I continue like this even my dream will leave me.

Kogoeta omoi tokashitai
I want to melt down my frozen thoughts.

Itsuka kono boku wo tobikoerareta nara
Maybe one day I will jump over me, the one I am today.

Ikikau kutsuoto ni nagasarezu aruite yuku koto ga dekiru darou
And maybe one day I will be able to walk without being driven by the sound of shoes that go back and forth.

Thank you for subbing the series, but ...

How do you open .rar files for free? I could only find sites that you had to purchase the software for $29. There was another one, but it was bundled with another software that allows advertisements. Not sure I wanted to do that, and so ...

Would appreciate your help in this. Thank you!

As for the song, I don't have time right now to do that (End of the term). If anyone wants to include the song (and put his/her name in the subs), feel free to do so.

Guys!

Me and Sanzaru are quite busy now, and we don't have time to finish timing for songs for episodes 1-3, 5-11. So if anyone has time to change timing for the song for these episodes, you're welcome! That will complete the work on the whole set of subtitles.

Here's the song (timing from episode 4):

597
00:44:48,800 --> 00:44:57,700
Nagareteru machi de tachidomaru
I stop in the middle of the crowd which runs through the street.

598
00:44:58,250 --> 00:45:04,100
Egao ga mitsukaranai
I can't see any smile.

599
00:45:04,150 --> 00:45:13,600
Kizutsukanu you ni utsumuite
They all look down and just start walking faster

600
00:45:13,700 --> 00:45:21,000
Ashibaya ni arukidasu
as if they don't notice me.

601
00:45:21,050 --> 00:45:27,700
Butsukatta kata kara iradachi wo haita
I heard the cursing of the man I've just collided with.

602
00:45:27,800 --> 00:45:31,500
Dakedo furikaereba soko ni
But when I turned around

603
00:45:31,600 --> 00:45:39,100
Unadareta boku ga iru
I saw myself with my head drooping

604
00:45:39,150 --> 00:45:48,260
Itsumo kono mama ja yume sae mo nigete yuku
If I continue like this even my dream will leave me.

605
00:45:48,270 --> 00:45:54,800
Kogoeta omoi tokashitai
I want to melt down my frozen feelings.

606
00:45:54,850 --> 00:46:02,670
Itsuka kono boku wo tobikoerareta nara
Maybe one day I will jump over me, the one I am today.

607
00:46:02,680 --> 00:46:10,200
Ikikau kutsuoto ni nagasarezu
And maybe one day I'll be free to walk

608
00:46:10,300 --> 00:46:16,000
Aruite yuku koto ga dekiru darou
without being driven by the sound of crowd's shoes.

609
00:46:16,400 --> 00:46:20,400
Translation by NGN and by polecat1.
This is a FREE FANSUB
DO NOT RENT OR SELL

00:46:20,600 --> 00:46:23,600
Subs modified by sanzaru to fit
the polecat1 version at d-addicts.
A production of FUJI TV, Japan

And here's the timing for the first line of the song (Nagareteru...) for all episodes:

Me and Sanzaru are quite busy now, and we don't have time to finish timing for songs for episodes 1-3, 5-11. So if anyone has time to change timing for the song for these episodes, you're welcome! That will complete the work on the whole set of subtitles.

If you can wait until the weekend, I'll have more time to work on this and will finish this project. Thanks for waiting.
