What can I say? You guys did an excellent job in subbing this drama. Also, this is probably one of the fastest subs I've seen from anyone so far. Thanks jamesieee and MRZXZ for putting this together. :-) :D

Both of you work great as a duo (Sorry, I have to mention again) :thumleft: :thumright:

Thanks very much for the subs. I do have one small comment about the format ... your timestamps seem to use a non-standard form I have not seen in a .srt file before.

They look like this: HH:MM:SS:MS
Whereas the usual .srt file looks like: HH:MM:SS,MS

where the comma is used to separate the seconds (SS) from milliseconds (MS). I was wondering what software you used to create the subs? Is it possible to change that to use the more standard comma? Thanks.

Just adding to the trail of thanks.

I just skimmed the ep and there were minor errors in grammar. (No biggy since it's easily fixed.)
Other than that, keep up the great work.

Are you sure you renaming the srt file to the name of the video? It should go something like this:

Slow Dance - ep01 (704x396) [RAW].srt

You can easily replace it with the standard comma yourself. Do a simple replace for: SS:MS with SS,MS and notepad will change it all for you. :-)

Well, of course I did fix it myself, in Emacs with some good old regular expression-fu.

I was just trying to give some constructive response as was asked for ... I've seen difference in formats cause unexpected problems before with incompatible software and I didn't know if the subtitlers were aware of the format difference.

Check out the FAQ:
http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopi ... 457#141457
Q2. How do I view subtitles with the video? What program do I need to view subtitles?

If that doesn't fix you up, try asking in the support forum. Have fun.

Is anyone experiencing this problem:

Any media players that try to play Slow Dance with the sub file crashes. All I get is a message to send this error report to MS.

All other video & their subs work. The subtitle file is fine, I play it with other avi and it loads. Its only the Slow Dance avi when I combine it with the sub or any subs for that matter that causes the problem.

If I install Matroska Pack I can play the avi, sub combination with no problems. I'm just curious what the problem with Vobsub could be. No one has has posted this problem yet so maybe its just me. Thanks.

I guess it's you right now because I can see the subtitles and I didn't do anything to make the subtitles work. Have you tried bsplayer?

Did you grab the original file before it got reposted? I have the original file and it works fine, but I haven't tried this new one yet. I'll take a look and see if I get the same problem as you are having right now.

Edit: Where did you experience this problem?

when i open the srt file in subtitle workshop, the text part show only the timing, not the translated words. Like in the 1st line, in text area, it shows "80 --> 00:00:16,64", not the words. The error happens when i try to open the file.[/img]

Since I don't have subtitle workshop to look at the subs, I used notepad and I see both the time and the translated text. However, I'm using WMP and it works fine for me.

I tried bsplayer and I got the same message you got. Heck, I even tried another file with subtitles on it and it didn't work for me either (it came up with a different error).

I got this error when trying to play in bsplayer with srt sub.

"List index out of bounds (0)"

anyone have any ideas?

thx

Heck, I even tried another file with subtitles on it and it didn't work for me either (it came up with a different error).

other files worked fine for me, but just this one
can you send me the srt u using plz?

thx

i also check the other srt file.
appearenly, the timing format 00:00:04,070 --> 00:00:10,047 like this one works fine. But in slow dance the timing is 00:00:15,80 --> 00:00:16,64. The last part has 2 digitals in slow while other srt has 3 digitals. maybe thats the reason why it wouldnt work.

Edit: I added a random number into 00:00:15,80 --> 00:00:16,64 to 00:00:15,080 --> 00:00:16,064. Now it works.

Anyone has the correct one with 3 digitals in the last part?

I don't think anyone has since so far, no one seems to have reported any problems with the sub files.

At least you got it to work, which is good since you can now enjoy the drama like the rest of us :D :-)

I have to add an extra zero after every comma. Thank god the function Find and Replace. :blink but every other line like in the dialog, a zero will appear after comma lol.
O well, at least i can watch it now. :w00t:

How painful to go through the entire sub file just to add zeroes after each comma. :-(
Well, at least I tried my best to help you out and hopefully, if I run into this problem, I can at least find one solution to this problem. Enjoy the drama :thumright:

actually it was very easy

use wordpad to open...
copy the text from wordpad onto notepad
on notepad use the replace command from " -->" to "0 -->"
then it should add the extra 0
rename the txt file on notepad to something.srt
then use subrip to open the something.srt
it should automatically add the 0 on the end of the other side.

done.

gosh i have another prob again, but it's not just this subs. some other subs i have will also appear in only one line, so long sentences get overlapped. i guess it's my own prob, but any1 knows how to solve this?

oh i actually found it out myself. i read the post by lefteyeguy and opened the .srt file in textedit and space out the lines. quite a task to do that for long sentences, but that's the best i can do. sorry to everyone again for flooding this thread!

You guys rock!

Caught half of the first episode on TV while traveling the country with my Japanese GF. She enjoyed it, but I'm not that fluent in Japanese (yet). She was disappointed when we missed the second episode while in transit, but was glad when I found a torrent. This also means that she'll be able to keep up with the series when we get back to AU next week. The fact that there's a great team working on the translations means that I'll be able to enjoy it with her! Thank-you!

If there's anything I can do to help (ie "splet chucking", timing adjustment, file prep) let me know. I've had a little experience fiddling with sub timings and formatting before (tweaking a PAL frame-based sub for an NTSC dvd of "Detective Conan" one of my GF's friends leant us)

jamesieee:

I got the timed subs for Slow Dance ep 02 sent to your email already(northwestern one), you can check for its quality, and please respond if you want to use these later on(save the timer alot of trouble). I tried email before and I think PM also, but no response so hopefully you see this.

opening up the .srt file with wordpad (not sure if it comes standard on most computers) will eliminate the run-on sentences....

when i initially opened the .srt file in notepad...all the text were wrapped with boxes connecting the sentences.

Hopefully Jamesieee will update this soon to put it in the first post...

Truely Compatable SRT, finally, the Final version. Updated 07/19/05

This should be the final version. You need to rename this to match the AVI.

It has various spelling, grammar, and timing fixes, as well as the comma issue and 3 digit milliseconds issue fixed.

There is still one thing keeping this from being a truely correct format SRT. The number before the times should go 1,2,3,4,5,6,7... obviously. At some points it goes 1,2,3,4,5,6,6,7... I cannot think of an easy way to update every number in the file... but I have not heard of any errors caused by this. If anyone knows an easy way to fix this, PLEASE let me know, and I will.

Sorry there's so many versions of this. First time subbers are bound to make mistakes, but we already figured everything out now, and episode 2 should come out correct in the first place.

Thanks everyone for your patience, and enjoy.

DareDesuka, mistakes happen and everyone knows that the subbers are trying their best to make the subs as perfect as possible.

I would like to say that everyone is standing behind you subbers 100% in any decisions that you make, even if it means having to redo the subs over and over again to correct problems with it. Oh, btw, thanks DareDesuka for editing the subs, along with jamesieee and MRZXZ :thumright:

Edit: When the final subs are completed for this episode, could you link the page at the beginning of the post so that it would be easier to find? Thanks!!!

Doesn't that subtitle workshop application or whatever you are using, automatically renumber the index? I sur hope you aren't using a plain text editor, that would be masochistic :)

Since I'm just editing, other than some very occational timing adjustments....

Yes, I am using a plain text editor. I'm using Linux, and sabbu, the only good Linux subtitle program I know of, won't compile... saying I don't have GTK, when I'm using Gnome as my window system, go figure.

Using SED to do regular expression replacement and a text editor, it's good enough. Maybe MRZXZ can fix the numbering in subtitle workshop, or whatever he uses.
