Junjo Kirari [Eng Subs] (Complete)

Postby hensh » Mon Nov 24, 2014 2:21 am

Junjo Kirari week 20.rar
(25.77 KiB) Downloaded 272 times
The 74th NHK Asadora Drama is Junjo Kirari, which means something along the lines of "pure-hearted Kirari." The story is set in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture in the era around the Second World War. When the story opens in 1928, the heroine, Sakurako, is a very active seven-year-old girl. Indeed, even in the first episode she exhibits her confidence and enthusiasm. But above all else, Sakurako is interested in becoming a jazz pianist, and music features extensively in the plot.

I did the translation of Week 1. There was no Japanese subtitle available for episode 1, so I did it directly from the drama and created my own srt and timed it. This is my first attempt, so please forgive me for any mistake I may have made. If someone can find the missing Japanese subs for the following episodes, 20, 76, 82, 116, I will be grateful.
Enjoy!

Thank you so much for subbing this Asadora. I love Aoi Miyazaki's work.

If you could add " [Eng Subs} " to the Subject that would help let people know what to find here.

So Subject would read "Junjo Kirari [Eng Subs]" or "Junjo Kirari [Eng Subs] 001 - ???", which means you would have to update every time you added a new episode.

Don't know about Japanese, but there's Chinese subtitles for this episodes.
I can send them to you. At least you don't need to make timing from scratch.
Looking for volunteers, who want to transcribe subtitles for some old dramas. (Second Chance, Sweet Home and others)
More details here.

Thank you for the suggestion. Apparently some kind person has changed it, before I read your comment.

@Avallac'h
Thank you for your offer. Yes, please send me the Chinese ones. I don't speak Chinese at all, but that will definitely make my life easier.

Only a Moderator can change your Post.

Also as you add weeks you should edit your initial post to put the sub there. At that time you can modify the Subject to indicate Week 1 - 2, etc.

Thank you for taking up this project.

Thank you for week 2. Next time you post subtitles, please "Edit" the first post and attach the subtitles to it. Instead of replying to the thead.

Otherwise the subtitles will shattered all over the thread. It's best to keep them all at the first post.

I have added week 2 the first post.

Thank you for Week 2.

It looks like Keiko1981 who is a Moderator ediited yor first post for you.
As she said you should just Edit your first post with additions. BUT it would also help if you would Post a Reply saying something like "I just added Week xx", so that reply post would show up on the Home Index.

Thank you for doing this. Also check your PM.

Thanks for the subs, hensh!

I honestly wanted to translate this too for quite awhile (given the theme is Jazz music, and I'm pretty spoiled to anything music related, and adding the fact that the availability of Japanese subs are a big help), but it's a good thing that someone else picked this up (as I got a lot of stuff pending to be translated).

I'm currently watching episode 2 (6mins in) with your translated subs. Though I've observed that there are a lot of lines that were not translated ^^;; Most of them are correct, yes, but I can't help but notice such lines. I do understand that ep1 was harder to translate, since you have to translate by ear. But ep2 onwards, there are Japanese scripts where you can have more guidance to what they are saying.

Hope you don't mind that I state those objective criticisms. ^^;;

Looking forward for the next episodes :D

I uploaded the revised version of week 1. There should be fewer mistakes, but I am sure there are still some mistakes. That took me several hours to do so, just to find mistakes and correct them.

I'm not going to do that again for weeks 2-6, but I am grateful if someone can point out any mistake and exactly where it is . Correcting mistakes is quite easy , but finding them is extremely time consuming.

If I am allowed to do, I'd like to ask a few volunteers to check my subs before posting them and let me know exactly where the mistakes are. That will save so much my time. All you have to do is watch each episode with my sub and write down the mistakes from the notepad (numbers and timing). I've done episodes 37-39 and currently working on 40.

Please let me know if someone is interested in helping me out. Thank you.

I think I could do that. Though, I'm still stuck at the moment with watching ep2 because I have other priority translations here and there I'm working on ^^;; Thanks either way for the corrected version of week 1 :)

Week 8 is up. Enjoy.

Note:

I thought understanding the dialects spoken in the drama might help you, that is lost once translated into English.

People in Okazaki including Sakurako and Tatsuhiko speak in Mikawa dialect with family and friends, but in formal situation, they speak standard Japanese. Most Japanese wouldn’t have problem communicating as it is quite similar to standard Japanese by large.
I couldn’t find much details of the dialect in English, but here is what I found.

It is said to be very similar to Nagoya dialect.

Hatsumi speaks in Kansai (Osaka) dialect.

On the other hand, Togo speaks in Tusgaru dialect. That is almost like another language. That is why Togo often translates what he said in Tusgaru dialect to standard Japanese or people have no idea what he said.
