Doctor-X 3 [Eng Subs] (Complete)

Postby Eric Paroissien » Mon Oct 13, 2014 6:40 pm

(My subs are in sync with Furransu's 480p)

Freelancer surgeon Michiko (Ryoko Yonekura) visits an island. Due to an accident by a luxury liner, some of its passengers are injured. Among the injured passengers, Michiko finds Ryonosuke (Shiro Ito). Ryonosuke is an ex-hospital director with whom Michiko has worked for in the past. Michiko treats Ryonosuke's wound.

Later, Ryonosuke is hospitalized at the National Center for Advanced Medical Care. He has suffered from a cardiac tumor and hepatocellular carcinoma. At the conference for Ryonosuke’s upcoming surgery, two factions of the National Center for Advanced Medical Care have an intense argument over his surgery. Michiko suddenly appears at the warlike conference and tells them that Ryonosuke is her patient.

@bmwracer: I believe it should sync with the DoA as well. Both files seem to have the same duration, so I don't see why not. I haven't confirmed it yet though.

furransu's blog is here.

@Eric Paroissien Please write in the first post which videos the subtitles sync to, or name the subtitles files the same as the videos they're timed after.

This will make it easier for people to know which videos to get.

Problem with subs

Postby Aethera » Tue Oct 14, 2014 6:34 am

Thank you for attempting to sub this drama. However the dialogues in French have no English subs. One other question is why are the characters' names sometimes put in the subtitles in parentheses preceding their lines? It is not customary to do this and only adds confusion when trying to follow the dialogue.

One last thing, often the abbreviation "Pr." is used. I am guessing this stands for "Professor" but it is not customary to abbreviate Professor as Pr. in English.

If it actually means "Doctor" then it is customary to abbreviate with Dr. although it is still probably best not to abbreviate at all.

Download utorrent if you do not have it.
Click the download link provided in the link above. Choose to open with utorrent,
To download the sub, download .srt in the first post

It also work perfectly with 720p: http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_158931.htm

Btw, the number of episodes has yet to be affirmed if I am not wrong.
How do you know its only 8 episodes?
Thx

Tested with 720p
Worked perfectly!! :D

Maybe I'm wrong, I'll check my source, on your side tell me what you find, in the meantime it's more aesthetic as a title than that ugly "(of ?)", ha ha!

season 1 had 8 episodes, season 2 had 9 episodes, so if following the trend should be around 8-9 episodes as well i guess...

Thanks for the translation, Eric. As i am one of the fortunate people that understand french, i had no problems with the french parts (basic stuff there). So no problem for me. But most of the people here do not understand it, so, yeah, they need those parts in english, too. It's a bit of extra work, but it will be very appreciated by them.

Again, my thanks for picking this series for translation.

Good that someone is subbing this series, but I don't like the way this is done.

Feels like this is translated directly from subs for the hearing-impaired. Talkers names are within parenthesis, writing out sounds happening.

Sometimes, it still works with 720p, I once downloaded softsubs timed for 480p but it worked on 1280X720 version.

Indeed, but I can still voice my opinion on it.

I've just watched the series.
I know I can't complain much, but some of the translation was a bit too far from what
they are actually saying.

For example, "A qualified doctor doesnt have to do that." is actually supposed to be
"That cant be done without medical license, right?". I remember the season 1 and season 2 had this translated more accurately.

It just sounds strange (and maybe misunderstood by those who has never watched the previous two seasons) because in one of the Daimon's contract,
she actually said "I wont do anything that can be done without medical license".
(I dont really remember how it is translated this time round, or even in the previous season).

Also, another suggestion is that I hope you can stick to the style of the previous translation for every Daimon-sensei's catchphrase and the narrator sentences.(because in some ways, it actually sounds more correct.)

I am not really complaining, but I just hope my suggestion will make your awesome sub to be better.

Thanks a lot

I slave all week for European TVs, Eng>French subtitles, they pay and i listen to their requirements and complaints, and i say "Aye aye, sir!".

This here is my weekend, my pleasure.

As soon as someone steps in and says: "Stop, I'll do better", i bow and i move on, ... this happens quite often, happened yesterday for Gomen ne Seishun, for example. :-)

I very much enjoy every choice i made for Doctor-X.
I don't have so much time to dedicate to it.
Although, the suggestion to translate the French parts into English was excellent because i suddenly realized the Indonesian translator after me would not see it as a "delightful exoticism" but a plain technical hindrance.

Hello,

Someone mentioned the accuracy? Well without this translations we would have been clueless and lost so it was good enough for us to understand and enjoy.

We already watched the previous Season and we're looking forward to Season 3. Episode 1 already met our expectations.

Thanks for sharing so we can enjoy also.

bye,

You asked the same question last week and someone kindly answered on the previous page, and then you thanked her/him.
My son has released Doctor-X 302 subs on one of his pages for his friends, I'm sorry about that.
I'll release the final version in 10 hours, 2 more layers of corrections are needed.
You're also working with your son ?

Thank you Sowon!
Yes, most of my work (subtitles) is from English to French. I started accepting jobs in Japanese last years but i was spending so much time, it was not worth the money.
